Single shot high power guns are always king of efficiency in any survival type games were economy is important. The fewer rounds you have to carry and fewer repairs you need to do is more important in these games than pure DPS, and you showed that really well in this video. I really wish the battle rifles were more useful in this game though.
I might be missing something here, but you do realise that using armour piercing rounds will bring the durability of the gun down much faster than regular rounds?
If you know you're storming a building, I'd recommend taking off the scope on the Rhino or hip-firing a bit more (you're point-blank, so might as well). I exclusively run a Rhino and found that the scope is really only good for mid-range combat. (I'll go try the APSB right now for comparison).
bro keep forgetting the extended mag attachment for the APSB smh up that thing from the already good 18 round capacity to 30, turning the APSB into a pocketed SMG
@@minzekatzeso, the APSB has no penetration upgrades, so the base gun with a sight rail is all you need (the extended mag, sight, and suppressor don’t add to repair costs) which means if your smart with your upgrades it makes an awesome farming gun, cause the ammo is dirt cheap, repair costs are less than most AR’s with similar penetration values, and you can use skiffs pistol for things like rats and dogs or unarmored enemies (assuming your not end game)
I think something to consider is the longer ADS time. Notice how much more you get shot with the rhino. Oh and if you’re not able to reliably get headshots then the Rhino is risky. With APSB I can storm a room in a few seconds without all the dodging needed for the rhino playstyle.
Rhino has a higher skill floor/ceiling for sure, but if you can master it, it is extremely economical/effective. Not sure I was eating more or less damage when using the Rhino vs APSB, enemy AI can be finnicky so I wouldn't assume that it was due to using the Rhino. Sometimes I enter a room and the enemy AI just looks at me for 3 seconds before drawing, other times I am eating damage as I peek.
I’m thinking the fov on the dot scope is better for room clearing also. Great peripheral vision while ADSing But yeah for the folks who can get headshots 90-95% of the time, I agree the rhino is a better choice. And for sure on top difficulty too. On regular difficulty you don’t need a headshot to kill with the APSB though, and that’s the winner for me. I can kill a room full of exos in a second or two without slowing to take a headshot (or risking a miss). And with how much cash you get by the mid/end game I was honestly considering upgrading a second APSB to take with me on story missions to counter the durability issue. 60k is peanuts compared to switching to a new armour.
All durability loss on weapons should be cut to 10% or less, and armor wear should be more punishing. Punish you for getting shot a bunch, not doing what you're supposed to, and shooting the enemy. This makes more logical sense anyway.
I wanted to love the APSB because it's so freaking cool. But then I fired maybe 2 magazines through it and the durability dropped close to 10% and thought "Oh man, this doesn't bode well..."
@@IcedCoffeeGamingYeah that’s what I do. I Carry the Rhino in the open world when I run into Bandits at range and then switch to the APSB when fighting in indoor corridors. Plus the APSB has bad enough durability that it kind of needs a backup regardless.
APSB is my go-to for being sneaky since it's the only silenced pistol that can reliably take out late-game enemies from stealth before combat starts, by the time the headshot flinch animation has time to finish it's over everyone knows exactly where you are. You gotta do it in one burst for stealth, and it's the only pistol that can. Rhino is still chilling in my pistol slot 95% of the time though, if I'm being sneaky I have plenty of time to pull APSB out of the backpack. I guess what I'm saying is, why not both?
Absolutely beautiful review and comparsion. There is no way to do it better than this. Thanks for this video, it is really helpful. Can you do a Kharod vs Dnipro? Both are very very close in terms of stats, but one has more choices like underbarrel shotgun etc. I would like to see a raw comparsion. No underbarrel shotgun, grenade launcher or scope or anything. Fully upgrade both weapons and go for the test. Compare everything. Literally everything. Price, fix prices, durability, the calibre change(how it affects the repair prices, damage, accuarcy, durability etc.)
I’m not a fps player and a bit slow so my reflexes don’t allow for this playstyle 😅 Haven’t advanced to this area in the game, would the saiga shotgun be an option for me?
yea saiga is probably the best weapon in the game for close-mid battles against any type of enemy, get a sniper rifle like m701 (i personally think that svu is better because it's a semi, so you get faster kills and you can control big grous of enemies) and you're good for a slow player. Your startegy should be engaging from long distances with m701 and when the enemy gets close enough just use saiga. For low health mobs like dogs, rats or non-esoskeleton humans just use skif's pistol. It's really cheap to mantain such a build, just for the endgame switch skif's pistol with rhino/apsb (rhino is probably better for it's range, but it lacks in ''crowd controlling'', if 2/3 enemies pushes you, you will have a hard time without headshots). Probably saiga and svu are perfect for you, they have great damage and penetration and you can spam shots really fast resulting into easy kills without relying on headshots
The one advantage the APSB has is that it can mount a suppressor for those rare stealth sections e.g. the 2nd mission at the sphere. Outside of those scenarios I never use a handgun so the durability is less relevant. All that being said I wish the Rhino could mount a suppressor but I guess that would make it straight up OP.
How exactly armor pen works? If for example my gun got 40% ammo pen and enemy 60% armor then i do 20% dmg less? Im asking because idk if its better to upg armor pen on zubr 19 from 54% to 59% or spread upg
It's kind of strange, but penetration aggressively scales damage. Idk the exact formula, but it's half the damage formula. IIRC the AP rounds penetration varies by caliber. I wish the devs weren't so opaque about the stats. It's impossible to make sense of how the game mechanics work unless you look it up online or scour the game files. Idk if a lot of people know this, but physical protection caps out at 5, so wearing a compass with an exo suit is useless.
Great video!! I hope the developers tweak the gun durability though to make spammy guns more appealing. Not to be pedantic or anything but usually the high pressure calibers tend to wear out barrels faster than low pressure rounds. I don’t know much about 9x18 but 9x19 is a lower pressure round compared to some high power magnum round like 357 or 44 mag that would have been used for a revolver. So it would make sense the revolver would wear out more % per shot than the APSB in 9x18 assuming its operating at much lower pressure. Again not to be pedantic but to keep these weapons more appealing.
I think the Revolver/M701 durability are fine, APSB feels too low though same with a few other weapons. Revolvers/Bolt action IRL are actually super high durability because they are simple systems, and guns wear out way too fast in this game, your average bolt action loses slight accuracy in the barrel after 5000 shots, so a gun breaking after 455 is kind of absurd tbh.
Yep… for sure. Nothing major to break on bolt action as everything is done manually. Much changed for game balancing but it always tend to make these one shot wonders more viable than pee shooters. Patiently waiting on mods for durability + modeling damage on caliber more than the weapon itself.
From personal experience, the rhino will one shot humans as long as you shoot the torso, meaning that the rhino is very good for gunfights against humans, the apsb for everything else
I like to think in terms of loadouts. A Rhino is a solid sub for a sniper if you wanna use a SG + irons or red dot AR. APS is great as a sub for an automatic weapon when you wanna use like a bolt action + SG. It's a shame that only the M10 can go in to pistol slot... And the whole weapon ballance just doesn't make sense but at least both of those issues can be solved with mods.
Since the Shadow of Chernobyl i was wondering why there are no hunting revolvers with these mutants or heavy armor, someting like 45-70 or 500.And here we are, for now im not that good with aim but i use Rhino just for feels, it brings me back to Fallout New Vegas.
@@nakkila33 Low RPM high power is definitely the way to go against humans. Lining up headshots saves ammo, saves money on repairs, and kills faster than mag dumping. They need to unfuck the durability in this game in general, and APSB needs to be full auto like irl. Guns don't fall apart after shooting a few magazines, no idea why every gun in this game is made of pot metal, apparently. Repair kits would be nice, too. As long as you clean and lube it, it'll last forever. There are guns from the early 1900s that still work. If anything it make sense you should be repairing your armor way more often than your guns.
Its interesting, how can a revolver be jammed 🤔 I used to play a game in which every gun had durability scale but revolver didn't. Rhino seems nice but the wiggle room for the enemies in a tight space isnt much, i try to scope the enemies in open space and they run around with dipping frame rates its atrocious. I also have to blame my bad aim and mouse😅😅😅
If the internal mechanism for the revolver goes out of sync it can cause a misfire/jam. The cylinder won't properly line up the chamber with the firing pin so when the hammer drops and strikes the firing pin it just goes click at best and at worst the round could go off but not be lined up with the barrel causing the bullet to damage the gun and potentially make it explode.
Most of Rhino upgrades are unnecessary you only need range and armor penetration one Scope in that kind of CQC only hinders performance You would pay even less for repairs if you didn't have extra upgrades

I wanna say Rhino is the best but I always use APSB until ammo runs out. Rhino is mostly for heavy mutants. Much better damage, durability, and range. And Rhino ammo is less common than 9x18 but still common enough that I've never had to buy any. Also the APSB being burst fire kind of sucks. If it was semi auto or full auto it would be better. Burst fire weapons are jank and you don't get the full burst if you only tap the trigger, but the fire rate is high enough that single firing is inconvenient.
Feel like you missed the part where the APSB cost me 7500 more to repair for the exact same firefight lol. Cheaper ammo sure, but it lasts 1/5th of the kills, has less range, and will cost you way more in repairs than Rhino ever would with repairs+ ammo.
