It was a pleasure to meet you in person yesterday John. I have been watching your inspiring videos for a long time before visiting Japan. I couldn’t believe it was you recording while I was sitting with my wife enjoying the plaza in front of Tokyo Station Hotel. You do an excellent service to many people!
Cool video! I like these walk throughs but I also enjoy listening to the news based lives, it keeps me up to date of what’s going on in Japan. Thank you 😊
Thank you for this. We are planning to visit Tokyo for a week in early November, and this walkabout was just what we needed as a guide. Please keep making content like this - it’s one of my favourite things to watch on TH-cam. 😊🙏🏽
Thank you for a nice walk, have walked that route several times (2017-19 Shiodome/Shimbashi) and a lot has changed, I was visiting in May this year and walked from shiodome to Tokyo station and there is some change. ありがとう John
Before I visited Japan in 2023. I use to get lost in Tokyo via google streetview with my Google cardboard. When I finally got to visit, I was able to turn that into reality. Once, I touched my face to make sure I wasn't wearing a virtual headset. lol
Hi, fellow former Ohioan. I'm coming back next month, and while staying in Kyobashi, I plan on making my own Shinbashi walk-about. Looks like my kind of neighborhood. Thanks for your video.
Like the news but this walk type video is more what got me hooked when I first discovered your channel around 2017, love it. But I appreciate the news too 100%
I enjoyed the long live stream seeing the different restaurants and places I never seen before i thought it was interesting that you were talking to a robot a ai assistant hope you find more fun John so many places to go to
Grateful you took that walk today. We will be staying at the Park Hotel in Shiodome in June so it was great to get a feel for the area. Loved your crusade against margarine!!! European butter only 82% butterfat content or why bother
I visited Tokyo Game Show this year, it took 3 hours to get in, I have never seen so many people in my life at a conference. I'm still recovering :P I am in Osaka at the moment, after 1 month in Tokyo, first impressions - locals seem to have a _noticeably_ different attitude, it has much more grit to it than Tokyo. Very cool all the same :)
Yeah, buses. There's one that goes from Sengakuji to Shibuya, the 97. 47 Ronin resting place, NHK Symphony Hall, some cult temple, Akasaka Imperial Residence, stuff like that. And the 33 that runs from Tsukishima to the Edo Museum, the big sumo wrestling place, and that memorial park for victims of the Kanto and WWII fires. Both are really fun. And community buses, those are great. I don't think they're intended for tourists though, but hey, it was just me and I look elderly, lol. Subway stations are near each end, so making your way home is easy.
Fun livestream John! Love these long walk & talk adventures. Quick question: from which building 6th floor gives the best view of the tracks & Shinkansens? Thanks!
Those 150kw/350Kw chargers are now all over the place in the UK, so is there a massive uptick in EV cars on the road, a mix of European, American, Japanese, Chinese, Korean makes. Those EV chargers never used to be expensive but can now be as high as £1 per KWH/Unit. (Approx 180 yen) as opposed to Home Electric at about 0.22 pence per KWH.
I’ll be staying in Tokyo February of 2025 and can’t wait! When traveling on the green line, do I need to get a ticket for each stop or can I buy one “full access” or do I just pay with my Suica each time I leave and re-enter a new station? Any areas of the city that you recommend to stay away from? Thanks! Hope to meet you out there!
Love your walking tours. A friend of mine who lives in Tokyo took me to that older building that you said is going to be demolished. Went to a hole in the wall yakitori place and it was so good. Sad to see it go.
Isn't it interesting at the crosswalk (ref point 12:35)- the cuckoo sound when you're crossing east-west, and the "piyo-piyo' chirping is north-south, only in japan!
You have such a humble and kind outlook on people who are destroying many places. To say it's not entirely tourists' fault for all the trash is very nice of you, but imo not deserved. Just because you can't find a trash can somewhere doesn't mean you just throw the trash on the sidewalk. That just shows many people were not raised correctly, and reminds me of third world countries (I was born in one, so don't come at me). It's just disrespectful to the country to trash the place you're visiting.
Hi, I will be stay at Sutetsu Fresa In like hundred mters from Shimbashi Station on January 2025. I hope its a good location, at least its closed to Ginza and Tokyo Station... and looks like there are so many line of metro, Jr and buses... and I realy wnt to ask my sons to try the monorail going to Odaiba... Well your video makes me like i already in Tokyo... Thankyou very much.. I hope your Vedeo can help or lead me to find any places that famous in Tokyo...
Have you been to Ichiban Conveyor Belt Sushi restaurant? When I was there this past spring, all the sushi was 2 pieces for 150 yen. I wonder if the price has gone up since? Highly recommended. Good quality, and cheap! 3 Chome-16-4 Shinbashi, 港区 Minato City, Tokyo 105-0004, Japan
Whoa! One hour, 14 minutes, and 29 seconds. I love going walkabout with you, John, and discovering Tokyo's hidden treasures. I will have to rewatch it as I am sure I missed stuff. Have a great weekend, John! I hope Kanae and Leo are doing well. And stop flirting with the🤖 And she flirted back!!! 😬 That was a tad creepy with a dose of 😮

Great video! Thanks for sharing!
Looking forward going to japan next month
As someone who's been loyal to his town of birth, seeing these clips of touristy/expat places is amazing.
Hello John watching all your videos since we are coming to Japan next week so excited. Weather looks pretty good for now.
It’s really nice now!
Great video and walk John - while we have only been back in Australia for a week, you brought back some great memories. Thank you!

Shimbashi first on the list to visit when I head back to Tokyo, home of the Tamiya Pla Model Factory. Might even see Matt Alt around! 😊
Good stream, more walking video's please!

Hi John, It will be neat to find you on this trip. I've been watching you since C.

Any recommendations for a Tokyo hotel/ ryokan with tatami mats? Any price range. Thanks!
uhhhh I think Arisa likes you 😂
This will be a good series where you walk the yamanote line.

They still have it. The Ghibli clock. 🕰️😍 I saw it when I was there in April 2024. Found it by accident. My hotel was just next to it. 😅😆
