    I LOVE how this guy pluralizes words that don't need it. Constitutions, ammunitions.....Just like Kenny Powers! I think its endearing and I share this man's outlook on the future of America!

    • @FishQuest
      @FishQuest  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      The noun ammunition can be countable or uncountable. In more general, commonly used, contexts, the plural form will also be ammunition. However, in more specific contexts, the plural form can also be ammunitions e.g. in reference to various types of ammunitions or a collection of ammunitions.
      Constitutions referring to the potential that the viewers of this particular video are not of the same nationality, but rather scattered in various countries in which “constitutions” would be proper.
      Thanks for the comment and keeping me honest on my 3rd grade grammar.

      @@FishQuest Kenny, just own it. When speaking of ammo, we don’t say ammunitions. We say ammo, or ammunition. Regardless of caliber or lot.
      Also, there is only one REAL constitution.
      Thank bro, we know what time it is on the street. FJB.

    Great informative video. I especially like your use of a shovel to add to the molten pool.

      Hey thanks for the feedback, it didn’t take long to realize that wheel weights buried in a 5 gallon bucket may hold some water which will pop explosively when it submerges in lead, the shovel is a must now a days hah.

    A well done video..!
    I will give you a clarification though. Moisture is only a problem when it gets beneath the surface of the melt. Any moisture on top will simply hiss & steam away. Also.. Sawdust is an excellent flux but you need to let it completely char before stirring it in. It could contain moisture and then we are back to the water & molten lead discussion.
    Thanks for the video...

    I used these with the Team Catfish weight slides to make a th-cam.com/users/postUgkxdmsDj7fQXe77DC0l7P7ua8B3PiESUubM Carolina rig and they were perfect for the ponds I fish. I have also used them to make 3 way rigs and these work perfectly. Haven't had any issues with them snagging in rocks or in weeds yet.

    How do You dispose of the waste ?

    • @FishQuest
      @FishQuest  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      thank you and great question. In the past, I waited until the waste had cooled and then I put it into the dumpster. More recently I've been taking the cooled waste to a recycling center where they'd take it for free.

    What was the pour you used at the end for the sinkers

    • @FishQuest
      @FishQuest  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @ryanlilly1293, the pot I used was a Lee Pro 4 20LB, I modified the pot by adding a piece of 3/4” plywood between the base and the back to make it stand tall enough to pour into my big 14 oz sinker molds. I’m currently working on a video that goes over my gear I use and the process of making sinkers.

    I just bought almost 200 pounds of miscellaneous tire weights for 20 bucks. But some of them are stick on kind. Still have tape on back. Will that burn off and float?? Or are those even good to use? I’m trying to make lead ballast l for my race car.

    • @FishQuest
      @FishQuest  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      are they zinc or lead? if they are lead they will melt just fine. zinc has a higher melting point then lead and needs to be removed for fear of poisoning the lead. I typically just scrape the zinc wheel weights off as im melting the lead. the adhesive tape will melt off just fine.

    • @franksgaragehonda

      @@FishQuest started to look at them. Some are lead and some are magnetic. So I’ll have to sort them.

  • @dahlusional1

    What about the zinc weights do those melt down with the lead?

    • @FishQuest
      @FishQuest  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The zinc has a higher melting temp than the lead so they are easily scooped off with the steel scrap however they can melt and “poison” the lead batch.

    Excellent video. I notice you don't seperate the soft lead into a seperate batch. Also you need to address the ZINC weights that are always in the mix, and the importance of seperating them out. I know that you know this but just didn't mention it. ZINC melts at a higher temp so if you DON'T let your batch get too hot they will get scraped out with the steel clips. BUT, if you let your batch get above 667 degrees, any stray zinc weights will melt and destroy the entire batch. ZINC will melt into the lead but will not alloy with it. ZINC contamination forms a gloopy ugly mess that is useless. Again great video, thanx.

      great comment and info. looking back, I wish I would have gone over the need to sort out the zinc wheel weights from the mix or make mention of the need to babysit the melting pot to spot any stray zinc weights. Looking back I don't believe I have ever actually melted zinc weights on my lead because I'm constantly watching and waiting for the lead to melt so the zinc didn't have the chance to melt at a higher temp. From what I understand only a percentage of the zinc will mix yet it will "poison" the batch which will result in inferior casts. I do have one question for you and that is lead melts at 621 °F and zinc at 786 °F, you mentioned 667°F, what does that temp pertain to?
      Again thanks for the comment and helping others learn.

      @@FishQuest Sorry i popped that number off the top of my head. Your number is correct for the melting point of ZINC. I have wrecked a few batches of lead and it doesnt take much zinc to do it. I collect from tire shops around town and these days i keep all the zinc for casting things other than boolits. Thanx

    Wheel weights are crap now. They don't use pure lead mostly anymore. I just bought a bunch from my local junk yard and it don't melt with a lead smelting pot. :( smh

    • @FishQuest

      The sad truth about used wheel weights is that as the years pass actual lead wheel weights become harder to find. Have you tried going to your local scrap yard to see if they will sell you other forms of scrap lead?

      As a constitutionalist and mostly libertarian, it is my observation and opinion that the only thing more insidious to the United States of America than weak politicians is people like you- Bidenites and Trumpers alike, trolls whose divisive binary view sows the seeds of discord and poison any common ground. It doesn't matter if he voted for Trump or Sanders- his views don't disclose his political beliefs and he fought for our country so you could make stupid comments and vote for whoever you want without recourse.
