I didn’t know Jonathan had his own channel I’m in
Youthman! I had to drop off, however I did hear that you were drinking prior to Subwoofers!!!!
That's a No-Go! Subwoofers first always!!!
Lol! Lol!
Thank You Michael for talking about me so nicely 😉 And BIG thanks for finally talking about that near field sub calibration 👍
Lots of information there and if i want to go Jonathans way, i'm having a long way to go...at the moment i've calibrated my subs like Home Theater Gamer did in his "Minidsp tutorial video"..near field also. I disabled room correction for subs with MultEQ app, so all my three subs are dialed in with Minidsp. That's propably not the right way (considering what Jonathan said) but atleast now i know little bit more how to calibrate that near field sub properly.
Thank you for your persistence and your patience. Glad we were able to finally answer your question.
Great livestream Mike!
Thank you, Steve
You guys should get emotiva to bring their speakers to mwave next time
We’ve invited them every year. It’s up to them. Feel free to reach out to them as a customer and invite them
Hope it was a good stream Mike.
We had a lot of fun
I was dumb enough to buy an Arcam AV40, glitches galore... Buzzing, lost HDMI signal, and even lost signal on coax audio. Will be very happy to see it go.
Sorry to hear that.
great video i really look forward to this live stream every sunday ..
Thank you John. I’m glad you’re enjoying the podcasts
I love these live streams. Mike I swear every time I see Ryan I cant stop thinking about how much he looks like Robin Williams in Good Will Hunting. lol
Glad you are enjoying them.
Thanks for the response guys! So to be clear- if you use the preouts on your avr (say the LCR) then the internal LCR amp channels will still be running hot in my AVR, and (not) free up bandwidth of the power supply to the remaining channels (not in preout)? In which case, preout all or nothing? Haha Thanks and love from SA, Tx
My apologies, I misunderstood what you were asking. In preamp mode, the internal amplifiers are completely shut off, which is supposed to give you a cleaner signal to the speakers. I thought you were asking do the LCR channels turn off. My apologies I misunderstood.
You are correct if you are not powering, your LCR internally, the main power supply will be able to provide more amplification to the other channels
@Youthman All good Michael, thx for your time and response again! It's difficult to get some of these questions into 150 characters on livestream chat haha! Not sure why on my journey I've gotten so turned around on the preout subject! 😅🤔
None of the preout capable AVRs I've used have a "preamp mode" to add to the confusion
No worries.
Wish I wasn’t busy last night I really wanted to ask a couple questions. I have 26 JBL 12s and wonder if instead of a hovereze I should build 2 nearfield boxes for the front and rear row, maybe even an open baffle near field? I’m limited on height so a boss or hovereze is gonna be tough.
I personally am not a fan of Hovereze, Boss and Hover Boss. In each demo, my brain always knew the tactile response was coming from beneath me and always pulled me out of the experience. My vote would be near field.
With that said, there are others that will favor the other.
@@Youthman this may be a good idea, I could build the subs into my riser for the front row maybe. I just wonder how low they will get.
Do you have Ryan s email so I can ask him about the Beringers.

I listened 'She used to Mine' from Waitress by Alison Luff after you suggested her on youtube. Absolutely incredible!
The first time I heard it, I was on a home theater tour. I came home and probably listen to that song 100 times. It’s gorgeous
@@Youthman yes absolutely stunning!
Hi guys one correction about the preamp mode the new Denon and Marantz models the preamps no longer All or Nothing now each channel can be turned on or off individually
Really? Were they able to change that via a firmware update because when they initially launched, it was all or nothing.
He is right
Yes the new preamp modes were there out-of-the-box I believe but that is only for the new models X 3800 above and above but preamp mode All or Nothing was for the 2020 models like the X 3700 so the 2020 models as far as I understand cannot be updated to the to the new preamp mode
That’s really great to hear. Thank you so much for letting me know. The previous marketing guy at Sound United was really good at getting us new units so we could have in hand to know about Denon and Marantz products. Once Paul Wilke resigned, we rarely hear from Sound United anymore so I do not have the opportunity to keep up with the new features.
@icope07 / 1:29:13 - I’d reconsider the entire setup perhaps. Possibly go for a more price / performance receiver and add budget to the remaining speakers.
Here is Sweden you’d save around $2000-3000 going to a Marantz Cinema 40 or Cinema 50. Cinema 50 + external amp for LCR would still probably double the speaker budget.
If he really liked that Polk R200 room, he should come to my home theater meetup mid-May in KC. I've got a full Polk setup with R200 surrounds and R700 fronts.
Reach out to him on AVS.
@@Youthman I posted on that KC thread already 👍.
I think the only real upgrade path for my Polks is JTRs, so I'm stuck with them for a while. JTRs will run me like $30K for a full set + subs. Really glad the Polks I have sound so good!
A sucker is born every day. Some of them become "Audiophiles".
I definitely have never considered myself an audiophile. Never will.
@@Youthman Me too. I was referring to people who shell out 5-6 figures or more for speakers etc. :)
I figure it’s their money. I won’t be spending mine that amount though 🤣
Ryan talkstop like he does not know much about good audio stop giving him red bull
I must have attended a different AXPONA show! I can’t believe how differently I experienced it compared to Ryan. I totally disagree. What a silly statement that speakers engineered by experienced expert engineers and sold to well heeled audiophiles can be dismissed so flippantly.
If it doesn’t say JTR or is used to blast home theater sound it’s got no value. That’s Ryan to me. He needs to broaden his perspective and understand equipment beyond his current narrow focus.
Ryan has demoed a variety of brands beyond his own system. I had a similar experiences each time I attend the Florida Audio Expo. The point he was trying to make is just because a speaker costs hundreds of thousands of dollars doesn’t mean it’s by nature going to be a great performing speaker. We all hear differently so the important thing is to find a brand that sounds great to your ears and enjoy.
