Gorgeous fish mate 👍🏻 watched it on my son's vr was literally sat on the bank with you! I actually asked you if you wanted me to pass the net when you were playing Mr barbus lol🤣😂🤣😂
glad you christened the new tackle m8 great video again 👍 talk about new tackle jinx got myself a new feeder rod mot had a touch on it lol that's fishing
The Shakespeare golden eagle is a lovely pin mark I still use mine they are great fun I personally think all our southern rivers are now moody times are changing I am afraid
Cheers Oliver, there are so many little rivers and Brooks that do contain some good fish, but won't for much longer if the water companies keep polluting.
Thanks Simon, not so long left now mate. I did plan to get out barbel fishing but I'm currently feeling like some more pike fishing or chub. What about yourself for the remaining weeks?
@@markerd5378 - I'm dreading the close season therefore I'm trying to get 2 evening sessions in each week. It's hard going, but I'll keep at it. Watching your videos is helping me to keep motivated and chase an end of season Barbel.
Nice fish Mark. Great when the pin goes. If you want a good one for barbel & carp, look out for an Okuma Aventa I think it's called, ( the bronze one). Got 2, brilliant reels.
Thanks Pete, I've actually got an aventa which I use time to time when deadbaiting for pike. Check wise the check on the Shakespeare is a lot stronger and with that extra little bit of resistance which I like.
nice one mark smashing fish hard fighting ,so your new rod and reel did the job they were meant to do so that,s a result i fish a lot with a centrepin reel on rivers on a stick to catch dace roach and chub with a few surprises coming out like ruff and gudgion ,, its nice when you buy some gear and it works ,lovely bit of river mark and some big fish ,,, i stick with the pin ,or is that pin with a stick.... any way mark nice fish good video crabtree fishing new tackle it does not get better than that ,until your next adventure down by the waters edge tight lines,,
It put a good bend in the rod and a feisty scrap. I love using pins but this season must admit I had been on the fixed spool reel a fair amount. I did want to get some more trotting in before the end of the season but we shall have to see.
New rod looks amazing too. I love my 1.2lb tfg classic rod great action. Don’t always need heavy rods. One question though I looked at the black rock rod did you happen to know it’s line rating and did you go any lower on line strengths with the lighter test curve?
Cheers Mihu, I use two generally, for a lot of filming I keep to a basic dji osmo action camera, which is tiny, waterproof and takes an external microphone and for other filming I use a lumix gh5.
@@markerd5378 Thank you Mark! I Was just wondering about your nearly perfect light at night recordings. Do you have a seperate light for this? Thank you!
Brilliant way to christan new tackle well done Mark 👍👍👍
Thanks Larry it was a good test for sure!
thanks again Mark - another good trip and a fine barbel: well done
Thanks mate 👍🙂
Top quality stuff again Erdwin!
Cheers Smiler!
Great video Mark! I laughed so loud at your outburst as the reel started screaming! 🤣
Haha thanks mate, wish you'd do a few more videos on your waters around Oxfordshire, I've enjoyed them.
Thanks Mark! I'm gonna try and do them more regularly, as long as the fish show up for camera! 😄
Great video Mark see you in the next one 👍🎣
Thanks Phil I may upload a pike video tomorrow mate.

Hah yep Anthony that was what I was worried about, especially with Two newer bits of tackle. Half expected to have really jinxed myself 😂
Great video Mark. Proper way to christen new rod. I absolutely loved pheasant calls in the background👌 Well done👌
Cheers Roman, it was a blissful trip and I love hearing pheasant and Tawny Owl's.
Nice job as always my friend. Hope all is well with you and yours in the kingdom.
Thanks Darion, no everywhere is upside down, with lies and half truths and political agendas. But what's new mate!
Good to see u smiling and having a joke mark, fishing’s not bad either😄
Cheers mate haha 😂

True mate, some harder hit than others but none of them in the best condition that they should be in.
Well, I think you can say that well and truly christened the outfit Mark, great fish!
Thanks Frank I reckon if I'd taken a banana it may have just tipped it to being a blank though lol.
@@markerd5378 Haha - NO BANANAS!
Brilliant trip Mark, beautiful fish. Thanks for the new tackle review.
Thanks Stephen I'm very happy with the rod and do want to get one of the shorter ones when they have stock.
Awesome video as always Mark. Thank you as always
You're welcome Jackie 🙂
I love your videos mark you fish with such elegance and grace well done keep it up mate
Thanks Scott, haha elegance I have my moments I suppose 🤔😂
Always impress me on the size of fish you get out of such small streams. Well done Mark 👏

Happy Birthday by the way 👌

Proper tackle, can’t be doing with giant bait runners and carp rods. Some are using 2.75 rods for barbel these days.
This I couldn't agree with more, 2.75 rods on small rivers is over gunning and like taking a chainsaw to cut a nicely cooked steak with.
Very robust reels does it have a check and spool brake I believe they were previously made by Grice and Young
just a check no spool brake that i know of on this one mate. Robust is exactly what i thought when i purchased it. A bargain for £12.50
@@francolinobasco definitely
that looked huge!... any idea of weight bud?
Do you make your paste with water Mark or just keep some of the paste back you use to roll your boilies
I keep some of the paste back mate, so it's an egg paste.
