Sid Jones I just watched for people parting out S14s on Craigslist and started buying/collecting parts as I found them until I had everything needed to do the swap
It was but the majority of koukis I've seen have a sunroof. Nissan really seemed to load up the 97s and 98s with options for some reason. It was like they were trying to turn the 240sx into a luxury style coupe. From what I've seen less options is more rare on koukis which is kind of strange with cars. Usually it's the other way around. But enjoy yours, they are awesome cars!
In my area you don't see too many kouki I have a sr20det s14 swap in mines be sides that the car is super clean be sides the faded paint since I had the car shipped 2 me from Cali because where I live a stock real koukis goes for 4,000 threw 9,000 stock and you never see them for sale also smh I paid 8,000 for mine and it came with a bunch of mods it was worth it I looked up all the prices for the parts and I got a good deal the sr is fun I tell people it's jdm stock lol.
Ever since I saw this car in Midnight Club I've always wanted it. I wonder if this car is fat people friendly? Only reason I ask is because I'm a big boy (300lbs) and I'm 5'11 but I'm losing weight. Need to know if this car will be OK with me in it while I keep losing the fat
They are pretty spacious for a 2 door coupe. I'm 6'2" and I still have all kinds of headroom. The seats are a bit on the narrow side. I'm sure you would be fine though.
Was that a check engine light or brake light that pops up on the bottome right tachometer area? I was planning to buy a 240 but it showed that on one of the photos.
Question for ya? How did you figure out the rarity of your color? I have a 98 in Pearl White and cant for the life of me find the data on the rarity of my color, and the rarity of it being an automatic.
There are production numbers listed in a couple different places online. Zilvia has a thread regarding the rarest colors for 240s. I believe pearl white is one of the most common colors for koukis but as low as the total production numbers were all colors are somewhat "rare". As for transmissions it seems to be the consensus that roughly 80% of USDM koukis were auto and 20% were manual. I have swapped mine to manual (in addition to some other mods) since this video which adds to the car's character in my opinion and makes it much more fun to drive. I'll be making an update video soon with all of the changes.
I cant believe you got it for 3500ish, someone just reared mine (also a 1998, black/manual and SR20ed) and its totaled and Im looking in the market (Zilvia and craigs) for another one and they are going for 8-10, thats with a KA only too, granted yours was automatic but even automatic Kouki's are going for 5-6. A guy I know wants 7 for his silver moss Kouki (automatic) so in my opinion you definately scored here, also really like the "no sunroof" and "no trunk holes from spoiler)
The only other silver moss I've ever seen sell went for 8k and it was automatic and stock with destroyed rear fenders where somebody put a crazy pull on them. When I found this one I was really happy. I really liked that this one was a base model without the sunroof just for simplicity and less weight. I'm supposed to be picking up the rest of the 5 speed swap parts this weekend so it will be manual before too long. And good luck with your search for another kouki!
Haha Hopefully that will be coming down soon. I'm supposed to be getting the rest of the 5 speed swap parts from a guy either this weekend or next. I'm just waiting on him to pull everything from his car so I can go pick it all up.
Sunroofs were an option and they did cost more when new. I just don't like sunroofs. In my opinion they don't do anything but add weight to the car. And on older cars a sunroof is just one more old, worn out piece of weatherstriping that could allow water to leak in.
Thanks for the info! I am definitely the current owner.. Same mods you mentioned are still on the car.. other than dmax.. Since I've bought it put a front lip and cusco rear strut bar on. Unfortunately not as clean as when you owned it. Horn + cruse dont work.. Fixed all kinds of stuff already. Do u recall if it had open dif? Anything else I should be wary about with the car, or needs to be replaced soon? Do you remember which brands/parts you put on suspension wise? I'm starting to mod it and don't want to buy anything twice nismo power bar, walbro, tierods. Also is it stock clutch kit? Sorry for the long message.. I'll post a video soon of it! It's a real treat to drive! Thanks again--Justin
The horn and cruise don't work because the part behind the steering wheel with those wires is broken. That's why I used an aftermarket steering wheel but the guy that bought it from me just wanted the stock steering wheel. It had an open diff when I had it but the owner prior to you may have changed it. I know he did some suspension stuff like new rear subframe bushings. And the clutch kit I put in it was an oem replacement by exedy
To check the diff just lift the car so both back wheels are off the ground and turn one of the wheels by hand. If the wheel on the other side turns the same direction then you have an lsd of some sort. If it spins the opposite way then it's open
I bought the car as a stock (other than the wheels on it), automatic for like $3400 and the 5 speed transmission swap cost me around $600 in parts/clutch kit/fluids needed for the swap if I remember correctly. And then I probably had around $1500 in coilovers and other random mods. I had around $5500 in the car total when I sold it.
The paint it s great! 4 lug rare, no sunroof rare, no spoiler rare! The only thing missing aré the stock wheels and the jewel would be ready... S14@midnigthpurple... Just RARE!
Thanks! And I have the original stock wheels. I'll probably put them on at some point just to change it up and rock the bone stock 240SX look for a while. Haha
I am sticking with the KA and I am also getting pretty close to a 5 speed swap. I'm just looking for a few more parts. I want to have all of the parts together before I start the swap.
Dude sick car but ur gonna hate me haha cause I got my 95' 240sx zenki with sunroof about a month ago for $2700 and it came with a manual tranny and a oem LSD from some old guy. Sucks though have no idea what differential it is and it's a automatic.
Yours is so clean love it got a 96 zenki i love mine being zenki but i see why everybody else changes it zenki looks ugly on a lot of them seen some that look badass with zenki but if you don't take care of the front it looks ugly
I love zenkis with clear headlight lenses and a navan front bumper. I love my kouki too but I can't say I like one better than the other. I think they both look awesome in different ways
Hey Chase I was trolling youtube and found this video! I think I am the current owner of this car. I was just wanting to know if you had anymore info on it? Look me up on facebook for some updates..
I believe the car was originally from around Chicago and spent about 10 years there. Then the second owner bought it and brought it to Tennessee. He said his son used it to drive to high school and later college at the University of Tennessee. I bought it from them about 2 years ago and it was completely stock except for the wheels on it in this video and it had like 145k miles at that point. I had it for almost a year and cleaned it up as much as I could, put coilovers on it, replaced other suspension parts, did the manual transmission swap, etc. The transmission and 90% of the other parts needed for the swap came from the same car, an early 1995 240sx. The ecu came out of a factory 5 speed 1997 or 1998 (can't remember which year now but it was a kouki) 240sx from a guy out of Atlanta doing I think an sr20 swap. I also put a new clutch kit in it. I sold it a little over a year ago to a guy from around St. Louis. He drove it all the way from here (basically Nashville Tennessee) back to St. Louis. I know he swapped it to 5 lug and put z32 front brakes on it. I think he put 350z wheels on it and an hks catback exhaust on it. I also think he messed with some of the wiring and put a jdm gauge cluster in it. He deleted some of the emissions stuff too. Not really sure what all he did to it. I think he only had it for a few months and sold it. That was the last I've heard/seen of it.
robert smith I decided to keep it ka. I've already got the pedals and clutch system parts. I'm supposed to be picking up all the rest of the parts this weekend from a guy parting out a zenki.
Jose Villalon I know but most people in the US pronounce it wrong so that's how I say it too. If I say it the correct way people look at me like I'm crazy and have no idea what I'm talking about. If I say it the wrong way then they know what I'm talking about. If I were talking to a Japanese person I would try to pronounce it correctly. Haha
Well, rare certainty is a relative word. What's rare to one person may not be rare to another person. I can assure you that I actually do know a thing or two about s-chassis. In my opinion S14 koukis are pretty rare when compared to other s-chassis cars in America. There were only 549 made in the same color as mine and I think that's pretty rare. Not to mention the fact that it doesn't have a sunroof or any factory aero. Sure it's not the most rare car of all time, but I highly doubt you'll pass one on the road just like mine anytime soon.
See heaps in new zealand, yours is the base model j, they release more j base models then any other model Q or k world wide.. color is rare in u.s though.
Stanced336 Yeah, in a bunch of other countries S14 koukis aren't rare at all and that's why a couple times in the video I said things like "in the US" to try to avoid confusion like that. In the US we only got the kouki for 2 years and less than 6000 were sold here in total, and I'm sure way less than that are still left since they're nearly 20 year old cars now. In a country as big as the US that makes seeing one a pretty rare sight. Also, the majority of the S14 koukis we got were either SE or LE trim (roughly equivalent to other country's Qs and Ks minus the SR20DE/T). Almost all of the koukis came with sunroofs, aero, and 5 lug hubs here. I'm not saying that these cars are rare globally. I was just saying that it's rare where I live.
3500? damn what a deal!
i know a guy selling it for 600$/
these cars are so beautiful without wings and sideskirts

+adjg Gonzilla same shit
same thing
I want one, but im not sure if it'll be a good first car
seeing minute 2:40 broke my heart......
Haha I swapped it to 5 speed and made another video of it after that. I've sold the car since then though.
+Chase Smotherman Im watching it right now..... I hate you for selling it...... such a clean car. it was a show car honestly
Have u checked the values lately?
@@dronetrucker im pretty sure he's loosing sleep over it these days!?! lol!!
You are one lucky guy finding a S14 that clean and for that price
Amazing car man! I just recently bought a 1998 cobalt green kouki with only 81k original miles! It's an SE.
Sid Jones Nice, enjoy it. They are fun cars
If you don't mind me asking, where did you source your 5 speed parts, the Ecu in particular?
Sid Jones I just watched for people parting out S14s on Craigslist and started buying/collecting parts as I found them until I had everything needed to do the swap
i have a 1997 240sx kouki se with no sunroof with 5 lug.
i was reading around and i guess the sunroof was a factory option.
In my area you don't see too many kouki I have a sr20det s14 swap in mines be sides that the car is super clean be sides the faded paint since I had the car shipped 2 me from Cali because where I live a stock real koukis goes for 4,000 threw 9,000 stock and you never see them for sale also smh
I paid 8,000 for mine and it came with a bunch of mods it was worth it I looked up all the prices for the parts and I got a good deal the sr is fun I tell people it's jdm stock lol.
TheSkater651 SRs are fun little engines. And I agree, 8k is a pretty good price for a clean SR swapped kouki.
Function > Form 👍
Absolutely!
Chase Smotherman thats good to know. now to continue the hunt for a stock S14 lol
TacticalLeo I am 6'5 300 and drove a 98 s14, it was spacious for me size wise, but my knees where pretty tight around the steering wheel.
I'm 6'2 and 345lbs. My car hates me more than my knees which always rub up on the wheel, but i fit very well in the seat.
TacticalLeo I'VE wanted this car to from midnight club la
Nice and clean original car. I wouldn't touch anything.
I really want one, what would be the best way to get one, like this
$3500. Fk not even a shell is selling for that low now a days. This 240 is easily 10k plus now. Damn it
Was that a check engine light or brake light that pops up on the bottome right tachometer area? I was planning to buy a 240 but it showed that on one of the photos.
How much did it cost you to make it that good
Very expensive today. Overrated Car for sure. Still one of the cars I love. Just ruined by fanboys and the stereotypes.
damn bro nice kouki i prefer one with no sunroof its better since they known for having leaks problems from the sunroof.
Question for ya? How did you figure out the rarity of your color? I have a 98 in Pearl White and cant for the life of me find the data on the rarity of my color, and the rarity of it being an automatic.

This 14 is sick props man
Dude, I remember seeing your car on Craigslist.. I have a Silver Moss Kouki as well, but it's a 1997 Base. And I'm also from TN as well!!
Yours hasn't been on Craigslist recently has it? I remember seeing a 1997 Silver Moss on there not too long ago. I think it was in Clarksville.
No, it was on Knoxville Craigslist a couple of weeks ago, but mines a 5 speed.
TheDylanfingerboards I think I know which one you're talking about.
hey where did you get the small antenna from? im looking for one for my s14 aswell
It's a universal one from a local auto parts store.
+Chase Smotherman I saw your craiglist post looking for a 240sx myself lol.
Haha Hopefully that will be coming down soon. I'm supposed to be getting the rest of the 5 speed swap parts from a guy either this weekend or next. I'm just waiting on him to pull everything from his car so I can go pick it all up.
its a minimalistic, rar, beautiful car!
does anyone know where i can find that type of short antenna for S14 ?
AutoZone for like $10. haha
hahaha thanks alot !!
You forgot to mention the exhaust chrome tips. The body is perfect Kouki U.S. OEM's is better than the Zenki or Japan Silvia look.
Isn't that MTSU parking lot? Do I know u?
It's amazing!
Thanks
how much did you buy it for and where/how did you find it
SurfTheStreets01 commented early on the price lol
Personally, i have seen those rims everywhere and i dislike them but your car is clean
I think having a sunroof actually makes its more expensive. A sunroof is a choice and if it was put they paid more from the lot

My 1990 240sx has a sun roof and does not leak, I'm sure if your 240sx had one your would be fine with it.

+Chase Smotherman would you sell it/ trade for 03 Evo 8 making 937 HP? Been looking for a kouki for so long, and I want it in rootbeer brown
I sold this car over a year ago
The paint it s great! 4 lug rare, no sunroof rare, no spoiler rare! The only thing missing aré the stock wheels and the jewel would be ready...

anyone know where a good place to find these?

I have an original kouki 14 silver moss with no wing or sunroof
id stick with the KA and enjoy it for what it is. but the 5MT swap would be more fun, preserve this gem!
I am sticking with the KA and I am also getting pretty close to a 5 speed swap. I'm just looking for a few more parts. I want to have all of the parts together before I start the swap.

Not literally hate me but like messing around.
Great project car
damn sick s14 cookie!

I love zenkis with clear headlight lenses and a navan front bumper. I love my kouki too but I can't say I like one better than the other. I think they both look awesome in different ways
And that cluster... In black and no sun roof... Very rare but "muy austero"
It's plain but I think it looks better that way
What a hell 4 shellac nuts thats so rare in s14 s
Tennessee man!!! I live there to
Gotta love the "Automatic whyyy" comments. love the car for what it is, not how it drives.
this is the cleanest shit i have ever seen how did you fckn get this car
When non car guys see this car: just an ordinary car car guys: TREASURE
I just saw this on sale on Craigslist I'm pretty sure it's this one
Probably was, I think the guy that I sold it to is selling it.
+Chase Smotherman Yes I think so. It has 350z wheels on it right?
Yeah
Chase Smotherman Why'd you sell it? No time to care for it or you just wanted something else?
LMAO base model Automatic no sunroof no OEM wing yeah it's rare alright it's worth nothing compare to the higher up models
Awesome car! Too bad for the automatic though...
I never seen a 4 lug 98 kouki lol
I think that is not 240sx. That is the Silvia S14
Tezzer J Silvia S14s are right hand drive (for Asia, Europe, etc.), while the 240SX is left hand drive for the US.
Beautiful s14, thank you for not ruining it with that stupid stance junk.
you got a unicorn subbbed
