  • Cedar Point is unleashing its new Top Thrill 2 roller coaster for the 2024 season in Sandusky, Ohio -- and this POV video shows footage of what it's like to ride the new attraction, which is a redesign of the original Top Thrill Dragster.
    Top Thrill 2 features three high-speed launches between two 420-foot towers with a top speed of 120 mph.
    Due to the nature of the ride, Top Thrill 2 also features a strict rider policy that prohibits all loose articles -- including cell phones. Loose-fitting shoes without a back like flip-flops or slides are restricted.
    Baby, I'm ready to go!

      Hopefully the capacity will increase as the kinks are sorted out. Reliability should be improved and loading/unloading procedures would work out to get higher riders per hour.

      I didn't notice the rattle at all. I was more invested in being flung backwards on the second launch and getting up to full speed from falling back down the spike. You sit higher up on the train than TTD as well, so this ride absolutely tosses you around when it spins before and after the tophat. Very forceful without being rough. It's awesome!

      The original Hydraulic launch was unreliable and added a lot of downtime to the ride as well as having bad capacity, not to mention the accident a few years back where a loose piece of metal struck a woman waiting in line as it launched.
      So the new launch system using magnets is more reliable, the new loading system is more efficient and the entire mechanism has fewer moving parts so its safer.

    • @SparkLinkDevelopmentStudio
      @SparkLinkDevelopmentStudio 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      The original hydraulic launch had lots of moving parts and was unreliable, it would break down often. An electromagnetic launch is far more efficient since it has no moving parts.
      Also, to give everyone the rollback they wanted, it does a shuttle launch.

      You still get quite a rush from getting up to top speed from falling down the spike and hitting the LSM again. A part of me will always miss that intense acceleration of TTD, but this ride kicks ass! The rolls before and after the tophat are much more forceful because of how much higher you sit on the tracks than in the TTD trains. I felt like I was going to get tossed out of my seat and the airtime from flying over the tophat was insane (I never felt that on TTD).

    • @CJDJKobe
      @CJDJKobe 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      "Top Thrill 2 is currently experiencing an extended closure as Zamperla (the ride’s manufacturer) completes a mechanical modification to the ride’s vehicles." -Cedar Point

    • @pamelabaxter2829
      @pamelabaxter2829 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      They could, and should be more specific, especially because there are several people sustained injuries caused by the Top Thrill Dragster. The last person injured sustained a severe head injury resulting in disability. Cedar Point should have retire the ride completely instead of upgrading the track and calling it something new. Top Thrill Dragster was shut down off and on all day every day for maintenance. Cedar Point said that they don't expect TT2 to be closed all season, but they also don't give any estimate as to how long it will be closed. The cost to build TT2 was a whopping 25 MILLION dollars, and the ride only ran for 7 or 8 days before Cedar Point shut it down again on May 11/12 so the manufacturer could complete the mysterious "mechanical modifications" to the vehicles. It's comical. 😂

      According to The National Safety Council of America your chance of dying in a car crash is 1 in 101. According to IAPAA your chance of dying on/from a thrill ride is 1 in 15.5 million. You giving up auto transportation? Additionally for insurance purposes Amusement Parks report ALL injuries regardless of how minor. If someone steps off a carousel trips and scrapes their knee the ride host must complete an incident report. The reported # of injuries doesn't account for the severity of the injury. Ride on!

      @OfficialEthanStillCodes-9229 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +7

      GP alert. Accidents on Thrill rides mainly happened because of staff, not the ride itself. Luckily, dying on a thrill ride is not common, car crashes are actually more common to die on than Thrill rides.
      Someone a while ago got hit on this old version of this ride from a metal plate on the train. In the revamped version which is this one, they have new trains which have less parts and absolutely no welding, so there will be no metal plate coming out of the train. If this does happen out of nowhere, the new queue has covering to prevent any metal objects from hitting people in the queue.

      The only problem with this logic is that most everybody has to drive/ride in a vehicle in modern society to live a normal life. That doesn’t apply to thrill rides.
