I would agree that Foley sounds are not very realistic. On the cop shows, whenever the lady detective shouts "Freeze!" and points her Glock at the bad guy, she doesn't fire, but the gun makes a _Chik-Ch-Click_ sound. Whenever I hear this, I think, "Geez! I'd never buy a Glock. They must have all sorts of loose parts rattling around inside them."
Hollywood, don't AI the sound. Good sound is the difference between amateur and professional work. It's bad enough when you hear the same sound in a lot of different movies and shows and start thinking "boy that sounds familiar." Worse yet if AI pulls ChatGPT on us who are watching. Just because film/TV has programmed us to accept certain sounds as part of the experience doesn't mean we won't catch on if it all starts getting uncanny valley in the sound department.
