📦 How I order from AMAZON JAPAN to the USA! Plus tips for buying Sylvanian Families/Calico Critters

- Welcome back to Critterland! Today's video is VERY different; it's about how I order Sylvanian Families / Calico Critters from Amazon Japan!
This may not be applicable to many of you, but I hope it's helpful for some - especially those who have wondered what the process, cost, and shipping is like when using Amazon Japan.
And this isn't just for Sylvanian Families fans... although I do include my tips and give some glimpses at good (and bad) deals on critter sets. The process, however, is the same for any product you'd buy on Amazon Japan.
Unfortunately, I only have experience ordering to the USA. So I can't speak on shipping costs, currency exchange rates, import taxes, or anything like that for other countries. But if you order from Amazon Japan to a different country, I'd LOVE for you to share your experience in the comments, for the benefit of other viewers.

I just ordered some Japan only release pokemon booster box that people here been selling for (120-150$ each) here in the us got them from the official Amazon Japan pokemon store for like 34 each bought 3 and with shipping wasnt bad at all for what I was saving. Got 3 boxes for what I would of got 1 if I bought from someone here. Thank you sooooo much!!

I'm really disappointed right now because most of the obscure Japanese Precure manga are currently not available on regular American Amazon stores online.

Speaking of re-ments, how do you find they work with sylvanians? Assuming you own any. I recently discovered their sets and fell in love, but find it hard to gauge what scale they are and if they would be “compatible” with the critter homes.
Some of the Rement sets are compatible, or at least some of the pieces in some sets are, but I have found that the furniture items and some of the food items are too big. The furniture is 1:12 doll house scale (critters are more like 1:18-24, but with wider proportions), and many of the accessories are Barbie size. so it just depends. The pastries from the Patisserie are perfectly compatible. Sorry I couldn’t be more helpful! 🥰

Thanks for watching- yes, as long as you run it like a credit card (it won’t ask for a pin or anything). Also, it’s important to note that they do not accept all types of cards, so it will depend on what carrier you are using. I’m probably too late answering you, but I hope that’s helpful.
I just saw that they changed the roof color to blue on the big house, an Amazon exclusive? Love the toy “look book” this year! Not sure if I like that shade of blue, glad I already have it with the red roof. 😅
Yes! It’s the same carport home, but with a special color car, roof, and a few furniture pieces and new colors. Honestly I don’t know if the new colors are enough for me to splurge on it, it is available in the USA on Amazon, for $160, but like you, we already have the red one. it would be cool to have something slightly different, but that’s a lot to spend and space on our tables is quite limited now! 🥴
@@AdventuresinCritterland I bought mine secondhand tho’ and I don’t have the carport… but I do already have the green car because it matched the camper better. Can’t be sure based on the one photo in the book, but it seems like they may have switched to the cheaper plastic on the car… we know how that goes.🙄 So again, glad I already have it.
@@the_Mrs. Yes! It’s much better to have the earlier versions of any of re-released sets, even if they use the same molds, the composites and level of painted detail, etc., are a few rungs lower in many cases. 😕

No, unfortunately, the Amazon Japan site is completely separate from Amazon USA. Your Amazon gift cards in the US will probably not work. Although, it wouldn’t hurt to try to enter it in, if you haven’t already uploaded it to your Amazon USA account. I know my answer is very late, but I hope it was helpful.
How long it delivered to your house? I was going to buy one figure from Amazon Japan.
It used to be very fast, about a week total, but in the last year it has changed. They started partnering with a new shipping company, and now it takes an average of about two weeks to arrive. I hope that helps!

did you pay in USD OR JAPAN YEN
I have done both. When I use my American Express, I pay in Japanese Yen, because it supports that currency and has a cheaper exchange rate. But when I use any other card, I choose USD, and Amazon Japan converts the currency on their end and takes a small cut. That’s why the exchange rate on the Amazon Japan site is slightly higher than the market exchange rate. ❤
I’ve heard that shipping is free on your first international Amazon order. Is that still the case/does it apply to Amazon Japan?
Oh wow!! I'm not sure if that's still the case; my first order with them was maybe 2 years ago (or maybe not quite that long ago, I can't remember), at that time I did not get free shipping, although I could have not noticed or accepted the promotion. It would be worth putting together a shopping cart, as a new user, to see if free shipping is offered, that would be awesome if so!! Load up LOL!
