Je n'aurais jamais oser mettre autant de foncé au départ. C'est incroyable de pouvoir obtenir un teint clair et lumineux au final.Je devrais insister plus sur les valeurs foncées pour mes portraits.
Wow Emma! I love the neutral, cooler and peaches tones of colors!! this is a very realistic baby! I know an Artist, I don't want to said her name, but, she use only different tones of rose, peaches and a little lavander color, she is one of my favorite Artist, but the people portrait, don't have many shadows and cooler tones, and I didn't like it now, because I have a more knowledge of pastels. Emma, this is very awesome artwork!👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻❤❤❤
Amazing. This is lifelike photo. I watercolor and just started my first colored pencil piece but in my future I want to tackle pastels. I even bought pans, sticks and pencils and paper so I am ready. Love watching your work.
Hello Emma, I have been watching your videos for some time now and decided to give pastels a go. I found a great deal from the S.A.A website on a set of 72 soft pastels and have got Hahnemühle paper and I am going to give it a try and see what I can do. I am eager to do a snow leopard. Watching you has encouraged me to try. I will be doing your classes on Patreon just to get the hang of it. So thank you for that. x
Lovely and Amazing are the words most often that come to mind when watching you work! I have only tried 1 person portrait with soft pastels so far. I found using the sofft sponges very like regular makeup sponges to blend skin tones was crucial for me to accomplish the look of my portrait. I am just stunned that you capture the photographic feel of depth of field in your paintings! Again just so lovely and amazing! Thank you for sharing your time and expertise with us. I know that you give so much more to the Patreons but it is completely worth the cost! Please take care, be safe and have a lovely day.
Amazing to watch you at work to begin with I thought the colours looked dark but you truly are a great artist. Thanks again for all your tips. I only started using pastels last year and you have been my greatest inspiration and help.
Beautiful work! What kind of tools do you use other than the pastel sticks and pencils? I know you have blending tools, but I see some tools that are interesting that you use. Could you give me a list of some of the good tools that you would use? And one more question, I have been using mostly pastel pencils, and they don’t seem to give the depth of color that I would like to get. They seem washed out, and not vibrant. What kind of pastels would you suggest I use? Pencils and sticks. Thank you for your time.
Thank you! I'll give you a couple of links to videos I've made that answer your questions. This one shows why you're noticing the lack of depth in the pastel pencil colours in comparison to the sticks. th-cam.com/video/GJZKivgjLgs/w-d-xo.html And I have a video all about the materials I use at th-cam.com/video/7Q0ouGdKc5c/w-d-xo.html To be honest the pastel sticks, pencils and a few different blenders are all that's being used. And good pastel paper!
Incredible and cute painting of a baby

Beautiful! It looks like a photo only much better!

Yes the first layers need the contrast and you need to trust that the lighter pastels will bring it to life.

Thank you Barbara that's so nice to hear. The dark contrasted first layers make all the difference!
