On the Raya mistake and on the Partey one where he's caught on the ball. Odegaard played a square pass to a spud 40 yards from goal in the first half too (he did the same thing 3 or 4 times in the run in last season). Even the best will get it wrong from time to time. You're right to highlight the reaction to it.
the game turned from a walk in the park to a total nightmare. I won't even be harsh because playing 2 teams we usually struggle with and turning them over is already a huge improvement, winning at this stage of the season is by any means so I'm actually really impressed they held on. But Raya really needs to get his head on straight in these big moments or he will also end up replaced.
@@thomashawkins1351 I don't know, those last 20 minutes were agonizing, we had little control at that stage and given Raya's blunder I was worried a random shot would go in.
Man city cruising to the title in their transitional season with key players in Mahrez and Gundogan leaving whilst having major injuries to KDB, Haaland, Stones and Grealish throughout the season. We had the opportunity this season but the first 20 games, we've dropped far too many points, too costly up against Pep.
Take about Partey being too risky and not structured enough is nonsense...we already have slight overemphasis on structure over maverick penetrative play...Partey made us instantly closer to the right Balance between structure and penetrative risky play
Odegaard made an equally bad, if not worse mistake when he passed to them about 40 yards out but they don't even mention it. Partey can be caught on the ball but good luck finding a player that offers so much going forward who doesn't.
Not going to pile on Raya. But didn't we see this coming throughout the game leading up to his error? I, at least, was barking at the TV, pleading with him not to be so cute with the ball as his passes were often only just out of reach of a Spuz player or given to a teammate who was under pressure. I'm sure others felt that way too. Is it his bravado, Arteta's instructions or a combination of both? I don't know.
@@mateodigsvinyl684 It's all about availability and us fans aren't well placed to make that decision. Partey played 33 PL games last season. If we could get 25 from him next season, which is below his average for us, I would take that over an ever present Jorgi. Any less though and I'd struggle...
Not sure Partey is worth the risk/reward. Arsenal superior talent should be able to beat the other teams unless Arsenal make a mistake. It’s a conundrum because Arsenal look damn good with Partey on the pitch.
I disagree, keep partey last season he played 33/38 league games. So not always this missing. Usually averages 25 of the 38 games fit. Keep him bc his talent is that good he makes rice much better. He makes saka martinelli and odegard all better. It’s his passing ability. I would only get rid if we are getting a Tchouameni caliber to replace. Partey would be hard to find another and if we sell we would get about 10mil for Partey. That is if anyone bids.
He sortof ran across Trossard without the ball. That is him initiating the contact. Not a pen but Oliver would normally give it against us. Maybe he just hates North London.
True but a few years back we got Luiz sent off for running behind a guy and his heel slightly grazed Luiz's knee & he tripped. 😅 Another day, we could have been unlucky again!
@@zTom_ absolutely. Oliver usually manages tobe the story. Must hate London not just us. Cmand its onside a d jit Post plus Son doesn't miss those chances agaus normally. Spurs would be perfect esp if the miss top 4 by a point after 🤣
It is bananas to think that if we had beat Villa, the title would be for us to lose. But - because the loss was specifically to Villa, we’re in a situation that the sp*ds now have to fight tooth and nail to hand it to us… How does winning the title at their place compare to winning it via them taking points from City - which they do have an encouraging precedent in? Let’s deal with our games first, but fugg’n eck…. this year is just too much
If Maddison gets into the England squad instead of Ben White then Southgate deserves everything he gets Ben White is clearly the best right back in the premier league
a) Maddison plays different position to Ben White b) and more importantly, Ben White took it out of Southgate’s hands and refused to be called up for England.
Even if Havertz is our starting striker next season at the very least we need to sell Eddie and sign an upgrade on him. I'd also sell Jesus and Nelson and use that money for a Saka competitor.
I can prob find James slagging off Ramsdale for a bad pass. Ive says from the start David Raya will make mistakes and prob more than ramsdale because he will try more difficult passes. The entire fanbase owes ramsdale an apology.
It isn't all about making a bad pass or two. Every gk does that. Let's take crosses, Ramsdale was 16th. Raya is number one in PL by a massive distance. If you remember last season, we began very leaky on set pieces. Ramsdale did well, but you saw what a poor gk on crosses does for a team on Sunday. Every corner was a goal for us against Spurs.
Why not simply keep Jorginho and Partey ? But a Zubamendi or Bruno or someone of that ilk and then we have fantastic MF options throughout the season . Yet to hear anyone advocate for this 🤷♂
Honestly James, your opinion about the spirit of the offside law and how we were lucky is garbage. Both sides are aware of the laws in advance.. We even scored a goal that was given off-side before they did. You over played the luck thing in you post match and you're doing it again here. The chance Havertz scores the 2nd goal from was far better than any they created. Saka's goal was a great move and finish. They missed 2 good chances 1st half, we scored 2 and were gifted a goal. They were lucky we gifted them 2 goals in the 2nd half because they created nothing at all otherwise.
That was exactly what I thought too. Had a spurs mate say to me that we were lucky, I naturally called him a deluded cunt and walked off. So i was quite surprised by James opinion.
They hit the post and Son through on goal one he scores against us 8 out of ten. Think we had lots of luck in first half and were nervous and off it. At 3 they were definitely there for being pucked off and 5-0. But we won ❤
@@virupakshawalla5734 Sure but as I mentioned we scored 2 good goals ourselves and the chances they missed weren't exactly tap ins. Finishing is part of football and we did it better 1st half and deserved to be ahead IMO. At worst we could have gone in level. 2nd half the keeper makes a great save from Saka and they get all the 'luck' from our mistakes. Honestly, think 3-2 is a fair scoreline.

Few points, I am surprise you guys don't think the game at OT is going to be more difficult than the Spurs game. Ten Haag is going to take that game very seriously. A lot of managers don't want Arsenal to win the league because there will be pressure on them and the excuse that you can't do it against Pep will be gone. Also, on Havertz, knowing how much of a psycho Arteta is (in a good way), he will still want to make Havertz work in midfield. He went back for Raya, went back for Jorginho, I won't be shocked if he tries to sign Mudryk again.
I mean he has already scored at least 1 last gap winner this season which I would class as a difficult moment. Think there is more fight in him than people give credit for.

On the first half, they reminded me of Arsene Wenger’s Arsenal bombing forward and never look back at your defence.
