I feel like abstract painting has no “how to” you just do whatever you feel is right. Whatever comes to your heart and mind. There’s just a bunch of cool techniques you can use to enhance your ideas

EDIT: There's a lot of confusion in the chat for some reason. Look at the end product again. Is it not pleasing to the eye? I think that's what art is all about. It's not like I know what abstract art is either. It's just that all the techniques used payed off.

Patrick did you just say it’s not “REAL” abstract art? Please inform me on what “real” abstract art is. Last time I checked abstract art was simply ANY art that comes from your soul that doesn’t necessarily create an accurate view of visual reality. I didn’t know there could be fake abstract art.

This is the ONLY abstract painting that I've seen that actually looked good to me.
Check out Mark Rothko. His art is easy to understand and I feel like it's a good way to start the journey with abstract art

I definitely need a canvas, every time i paint i use a normal paper. Thats why its so difficult to blend in a normal paper because its so thin. U need a water to blend but i just cant use water cuz the paper might break
definitely use canvas. its so much easier
Yup...but my parents wont allow me to buy a canvas...they said its probably a waste of money if we buy a canvas...
KeyEm GGamer yea but he is dry blending with a big brush. I agree canvas is better. Try wood with white gesso that works well too. Do what you can until you can buy your own stuff

Make one yourself, its surprisingly easy and very much cheaper.
