man thank you for that bonus tip because now I don’t feel so alone. I never understood the concept of recording vocals on a track that isn’t mixed. My process is create the beat, rough mix it, record vocals, and then adjust the mix accordingly because I know when I go into that vocal session I have a better idea of what the end product is going to sound like. Doing a vocal take without that rough mix is like you said going to cost you as you try to compensate in the long run. It’s a great little work flow habit I’ve gotten into and I don’t think I will do things any other way
I live in an apartment where everybody can hear each other. I usually record at night and I can't be to loud. How can I treat my room so less sound is coming out? I want to feel comfortable while recording and don't want to disturb others. I'm on a low budget.
Thank you for helping artist all across the world really needed to get this knowledge. Thank you god bless you man we the people highly appreciate you Wavy Wayne The Best
@@yayolinie4486 I'd recommend the WA-8000. Its solid! - It happens to be on-sale right now too. Check it out on my site. wavyproaudio.com/products/warm-audio-wa-8000-large-diaphragm-tube-condenser-microphone-gold And the Lauten Audio LS 208 is great too! wavyproaudio.com/products/lauten-audio-ls-208-large-diaphragm-front-address-condenser-microphone
I learn a lot from you. keep up the good work. I'd like you to talk about the best colors for the recording studio. I have realized that's most people like dark color on the walls. I looks good but why dark, does it have any effect on the recording?
Hey Fam, I don’t think the colors affect the sound as much as they affect your mood. I painted this black because I was thinking it was gonna be cool, but I actually kind of regret it and wish I went with a lighter color, the black room is very dark lol
Big dog.. Question hopefully you can help with... When using external compressors and preamps... Can you go into the red on the preamp then dial it back on compressors before the interface? Ive heard over driving your pre can add color... Or should you never go into the red even on outboard??? Thanks.
Hey Fam, good question. The answer is that it totally depends on what Sound you are going for, clipping on analog gear can be a desired sound so try it out if you’d like it great if you don’t back off.
Thank you Wavy! I learned a lot from you keep up the good work. I’m always tuned in. I’m a better artist and engineer because of your wisdom one love tell the family I said what’s up

This is a great video. The camera tracking your movements is a distraction though
Appreciate that, I’ll be more aware of that on the next one!
Thanks for sharing your wisdom with us!
I've got a question tho What do you think of the Neuman TLM 102?
It’s good for some things. I do not love it on vocals though.
@@waynewav What mic would you recommend in the price range up to 1k

in my experience its best to not clip the mic input. any extra gain needed can be done by the compressor or in the daw.

What mm is your chain?
lol. I don’t even remember.
Bro good video
Thanks man! Appreciate it 🙏🏽
Let’s say I record a higher octave over my main lead vocal how should I pan it or should I just leave it in the middle like the main vocal?
I would say record at least 2 layers of the octave and pan the wide under the lead.
@ appreciate you
We needa to see you set the interface
On it.
@ Frasho
When did you graduate from Full Sail?
2008 fam!
@ I graduated from there in 2011
Is that a “presonus quantum” I see in the back ….🧐
Yessuh!
Better Room = Better Recording

Hey ! , What's the point of having so many "Interfaces" ? Just asking
More inputs and outputs. I also review a lot of gear!
