Unboxing a LONG LOST COIN COLLECTION - Expensive Coins Coming Out of Nowhere

  • Here's a pretty unexpectedly incredible collection that a close contact of mine asked me to evaluate - and there were some great coins that the owner had no idea were in there. It wasn't just confined to one coin, either - there were a lot of coins that were worth hundreds of dollars more than their bullion value, not to mention the sheer amount of reasonably pricy coins. It always pays to have someone knowledgeable look at your coins - and this is a fun collection that shows just that.

The 1925 Sovereign appears to have a P mintmark right above the date, meaning it was minted in Perth, Western Australia. Certainly carries a premium over the British 1925s which are basically all restrikes. Also the S mintmark on the 1887 Sovereign is for Sydney, a little further afield than San Francisco :P

Nice video. As a coin collector since 30 years I have also often checked some family collections like this. Also in Europe the average houshold has the same junk silver, worthless foreign small change and sometimes luckily some gold coins. You presented it very well. In Europe all this silver is put to melting companies. It´s sad, because there are often nicer coins than usual.

This way such a great collection! Those Morgan's stood the test of time. Was the pouch leather? The gold was beautiful of course. Even the constitutional was in great condition. And best part, you can almost be sure non of the coins were cleaned. For a "smaller" collection, it was a very smart collection imo. You did a great job. You're definitely the person to go to with a collection.

Love your videos, Christian. Lucky to find a couple of 1884-S! Your Roman coin is not an antoninianus. It's a very common 4th century bronze, showing Jupiter holding Nike, the goddess of victory. In the condition it is in, it has virtually no value, I'm afraid. But your other great finds more than make up for that!

I believe he was only appraising the collection? I'm sure he told the owner his knowledge and opinions, but it's the owners decision. Notice the saflaps with Morgan's. That's what you use to send coins to be graded, so I think they're on it 👍🤗 just guessing though. But my ocd kicked in hard when I saw Christian put the Morgan's in opposite of the way I put coins in....might have to change all the coins I have in them 🤷🏼‍♀️

I have a Bulgarian war medal, with paper work about the recipient, that must be a one-off in the United States. It is very old. The collection in the video is similar to thousands of others, nice but common. Silver is always fun to look for. Me and my family got hired to clean out a house after a lady had passed away. Their children said they absolutely hated her for how they were raised and wanted nothing to do with anything of hers. So as we started gutting the place, we stumbled upon a book shelf with nothing but old and I mean old books of which we had no clue were collectibles and valuable, so we threw them straight into the trash which to this day I regret. But then we kept cleaning the book shelf and some of the books were old dansco albums and two big velvet crown royal bags FULL with Morgan dollars a total of 387 to be exact. And like a young and dumb ass hole, I got into drugs as a teen and basically sold every Morgan to a local coin shop. I was paid on average 30 dollars some 90 others 180 but I was paid 1200 and 2500 for 2 coins which I regret having sold all together. Moral of the story, you live and learn and eventually I'll repay my parents for the biggest mistake I've made in my life.
