Technically, you never said you're not allowed to reset the level right before you fall into a pit. Is this possible in Mario Sunshine? Even if not, you can still reset the game, right?
I believe you have to stand still to be able to exit a course, just like in m64. Plus it would make the challenge a bit boring if you can just exit out whenever you are about to be hit
