Yes although these guys were kind of in the very beginning of this hobby, you're right the machines were pretty powerful back then too and just about every site that went to had never had a detector on it before. Thank you for the view and for your comment!

Two feet deep signals!!! Wow! I assume those are pulse induction machines. A coffee shared with buddies detecting is definitely way better. 😁
This is my favorite so far of the vhs's, good stuff Mark! 👍👍👍 I need to build me a screener and start hitting some nearby lakes. I also wanted to mention that the sound the detectors were making was kinda familiar and a really cool sound!

I noticed that there was several different machines being used and 2 ft is an amazing depth for any metal detector. I definitely agree about the coffee shared with a buddy. This was their most popular video they made and I can see why I have to go back and listen to those sounds again. Thank you again for the view and for your comment!

Another great video and a different perspective on metal detecting, Who would have thought to do this and the homemade equipment is great. I recently picked up 3 small handbooks from 1987-88 By Donald A Barthel on Beach detecting in Southern California Beaches. The were giveaways from someone in my prospecting club.
