@@GolgappaUwU it means a man that behaves like a woman. so, for a trans person (trans women especially) it can be very invalidating and hurtful. also, it is a slur, like the word 'faggot'. i hope that clears it up

      @r.k.royc.2823 5 ปีที่แล้ว +30

They don't want to mess with pronouns that we already use for 'binary' people. They don't want to impose their pronouns on 'everyone', they just want us to call 'only them' by such pronouns. This is because they 'exist' simply because they genuinely feel so and go to great extremes to face hardships to be themselves. Our denial does not make them 'non-existent'.
They exist simply because they ARE THERE and feel that way. We have to just SEE or LISTEN to know this fact.

Videos like these are an absolute necessity to make people understand that LGBTQ are just as normal as straight people. The day people understand this, then the need to call them with names or make them a different community will not be needed anymore. We don't call straight people as the straight community right? And I gotta agree that's damn correct. When you strip away everything else- gender, religion, race, etc, people are just people. I'm an LGBT activist myself but i have an unpopular opinion.
Fighting gender norms and stereotypes and asking to be identified as multiple genders by conforming to stereotypical gender norms just sounds very contradictory and un-sustainable to me. Hypocritical, even.
On the other hand, sexual preferences are real, gender dysphoria is real and sexual orientation is real. I fail to understand how being gender queer or non binary is something more than a mood/phase. But then again, i would never call someone out for being what they want to be and i don't have a problem with anyone. I just personally cannot bring myself to take being non binary seriously or identify it as an identity. And id love it if someone shines a different light on it

I think it is more like this: Trans people experience dysphoria because their innate gender does not coincide with their birth gender. Similarly, a gender fluid or non-binary person's feeling of dysphoria can be towards both male and female gender, or change between one or the other constantly. Just like being trans is not a 'mood' as it is not under their control, neither is the type of dysphoria they experience.
I'm not gender-fluid, but if you'd like to look at a gender-fluid person's perspective on this, you could look at this video :)

Hi! So, being a non-binary person, let me shed some light only point of view on this. I know that gender stereotypes are an unnecessary framework enforced upon us by the society. But on the other hand this understanding does not stop me from being a non binary person. It is because there is a difference between gender presentation and gender identity. I know I can present myself anyway I want, and do anything I want without being enslaved by gender norms, but I still cannot view my gender as my sex. It is more to do with who I am than how I am. I hope you have a better understanding of the non-binary side of the community by this explanation. Have a nice day. :D

A lot of people in the comments do not understand the word "Gender". For everyone who is confused, here is what the dictionary has to say:
Sex: either of the two main categories (male and female) into which humans and most other living things are divided on the basis of their reproductive functions.
Gender: the state of being male or female (typically used with reference to social and cultural differences rather than biological ones). The word Gender is only very loosely associated with natural distinctions of sex.

1:38 I think it is very important to clarify the distinction between sex and gender in the trans dialogue
Because sex is biological, and gender is a social construct. Sex is male or female, while gender is man or woman or non-binary or gender queer or genderfluid.
Sex is innate and the binary and it's distinctions are highly important in medical sciences, but gender is a social construct with arbitrary gender roles (such as males should have short hair and cannot wear skirts, women should wear skirts, men should be masculine, women should be feminine and so on) which have no scientific basis whatsoever and are entirely made up by society to seemingly befit the sexes, but because of their completely baseless nature, they don't.
A trans person cannot change their sex, but they can change their gender.
So a trans woman would be biologically male, but her gender would be woman. A trans man would be biologically female, but his gender will be man. BUT, just because their sex is male or female, you can't guess what their genitalia maybe on that basis alone. They may have undergone gender reassignment surgery or not, but that still doesn't mean you should try guessing what genitalia someone may have because that's just creepy and rude.
Trans is a gender identity and not a sexual orientation, so they may be straight, gay, lesbian, bisexual, asexual, pansexual, or any other orientation.
Most importantly, intersex (the I in LGBTQIA+) is a medical condition and does not show that sex is a spectrum, and intersex people, as a group, do not want to be included in the community because theirs is not an identity or orientation, but something they're forced to bear. Kindly be respectful and use the acronym as LGBTQA+.
TL;DR: don't use sex and gender interchangeably, they are not synonyms and represent two completely different things. Using them interchangeably only serves to spread misinformation and further confusion about a topic that isn't very openly discussed.

i was always told in my country to keep distances from these 'kind' of people but now that im living in a foreign country i've learnt to respect people. i believe respect is everything. if u don't like someone's way of dressing, of behaving or mentality it's ok, just don't disrespect them. everyone deserves to be respected. even in a relationship before love/romance the respect comes before. if ur partner doesnt respect u, ur future will be dark.

Yeah, maybe these are all things that make you feel awful, but other people have opinions just as you do, and when they don't match, neither is necessarily at fault.
I see gender and sex as the same, so I would never refer to a biological male as a woman. That's my opinion, you're free to disagree, but not free to try to force me to say something I don't see as true.

      Honestly
I am very much confused about where I stand in my opinion about gender and sex
      Like
I disagree with the idea of gender and sex being COMPLETELY different and I also disagree with the idea of gender and sex being COMPLETELY same
Because gender dyspohria is a real issue

As a person who asks a lot of questions....I didn't realize people don't like being asked questions about themselves.....if a dialogue has to start between us all we have to learn to openly share details about each other with each other...that is how we will be able to understand what someonelese is going through or why they think the way they do or what kind of stuff they are dealing with and how you can help them......also I think the plus size super model was right you don't need gender reassignment to be a woman, man or whoever you were meant to be......please research carefully and see how dangerous these surgeries can be before undergoing any procedure.....We want all transgender individuals to be safe and healthy first !
