Have you considered digging a big rectangular pit and earth sheltering them? And perhaps setting the tumblers vertically?

why they don't build a supported axial copper spiral with the tube"heat exchanger" inside the cylinders instead using sort of a collector with straight tubes inside?

This is awesome. I would love to see a follow up. I think that the information you've gathered might help design a more economical system.

How do you get the compost out without damaging the heat exchange?

Pretty sure they just dumped it. Near the end of the video the guy showed the finished compost which was very fine because of the tumbler method, so it would easily pour out via gravity without having to use any tools at all.
At least that's what I think based on the videos.

Very cool but what are the results, did it produce any heat?

Why isn't there a cooper coil wounded around a tube that is positioned as the tumblers' "axis" for a heat exchange??

This is only if you don't have rain. I see a lot of cables and electricity exposed

Have you made some improvements since this video? Any numbers of the heat energy from the composter? Love the what you done. Keep up the good work!

How did it perform? Temp increase in chicken shed?

Work of several geniuses. Looks like investing a thousand dollars in return for $26 annually.

Seems like there's so many people out there who think that every great invention never went through the process of trial and error, improvement not just on performance but finding ways to manufacture cheaper and improved efficiency. Some comments think that the prototype should automatically be the end product.
The VCR was nearly $1000 and probably about 30lbs when it first came out.
    Grow up.

heck of a design - nice job! But I fear the tumblers are simply too small to capture significant heat. You'd have been far better off with a single tumbler with 2x the volume. For gross heat generation, I'll take sheer volume over the ability to turn the compost any day.

Like the idea, but the copper tubing looks like it will get destroyed by compost tumbling over it

@@joelbruneski6486 yeah, I have a strong aversion to putting anything delicate inside a compost pile!

Every great invention started out with a small "what if" set up to see if it would even work, then from there improving on and expanding the design.
I get the feeling these guys are almost like a think tank working out the what ifs.
