When I was younger, I was never into anything scary, and after the fact that I have been a fan of sissy, Spacek, since I was three years old in 1980, my parents are taking me to see sissy as Loretta Lynn in Coal Miners Daughter at the movie theater in Kentucky in 1980. It wasn’t until I was 16 in 1993 that I got to see Sissy as Carrie even though the movie came out in 1976 just a year before I was born. I honestly honestly have to say Carrie is my favorite sissy, Spacek, film, and story. I know there have been many incarnations of Carrie either film TV movie or play and the story usually basically is the same and I think each actress who plays Carrie either in film or in play bring something different and that’s just wonderful.
I really really like the ending. Usually, the ending is just Carrie walking through to the door, and the Sue sits down in the chair, and then "Name please." This ending though, kind of had the element of surprise as the 1976 film did.
@Theatre Fan! This is Sue's repetitive nightmare. These hearings that happen over and over again. Usually, before the Name Please, Cartie walks through the doors to the afterlife, but this time, instead of that ending, Carrie walks to Sue, attacking her as they say Name Please, indicating the nightmare starting over again.
I'm sorry you guys didn't get to perform in front of an audience but I'm actually very thankful that you used real fake blood and not some stupid light effect
I appreciate that! I don't mind that we didn't bring in money for this company though! The owners are transphobic, homophobic, racist, the husband is a predator, etc! They also employ some p VIOLENT bigots which is like...super sad :-/ But I'm glad you like what we did w the blood! Our prop master is like my favorite person on the planet
I really like the line change for Chris in the Destruction and having her do the honors with the blood! For me, “Pull the damn cord, Billy!” always had this cheesy, inauthentic feel to it that didn’t quite fit. I much prefer the vibe of Chris directly addressing and insulting Carrie, really solidifying the revenge and bullying aspect. Many productions end up having to slightly change it anyway because they dump it manually like this rather than using the cord (based on all the blood drops I’ve seen on TH-cam, manual dumping has a better chance of actually hitting Carrie than the blood coming from somewhere above. Though it’s not like the book/movies, it may just be the better way of going about it). Besides, you’d think Chris would want to do it herself to experience the full revenge and satisfaction.
Oh agree, we always knew we were gonna have to do a manual blood drop, and we were gonna have a line somewhere around what was said! That one specifically though actually came from our first day of rehearsal, and it stuck through the entire process!
@@poseison Cool! Also I have to say the acting in this was great! High school/teen productions can be hit-or-miss in that department, and this cast was honestly really good.
The actor playing Chris is killing it. I loved when she told Norma she was a real one! 😂 I feel like she really got her character and she sings SO good
Wow thanks for sharing such a high-quality version! Liked the end change, haven't seen this version done elsewhere. Chris absolutely KILLED it. Favorite performance of this character, no question. I liked that there was a combination of practical effects (Blood drop, Carrie's levitation practice) and digital (The background changes).
Company wanted more money. Everyone that auditioned (with a $50 audition fee) got a part. Everyone. We were triple cast (with a $250 production fee) and the people that got tickets before we were shut down were never refunded :P
@@jillianvicic3282 nobody asked your opinion and don’t call me rude, she’s supposed to be mean and abusive. Betty Buckley is older now but she would still put this Margaret to shame.
