    I don't understand why Sony doesn't make a curtains that covers the sensor for lens swapping. Whenever you take a lens off, the curtains would close, preventing dust from coming in to the sensor. You could obviously open the curtain if you'd like in the settings, for manual sensor cleaning. This looks simple to me and would be so helpful.

      they could shut the shutter using software and have a lens swap mode via firmware updates.

      The shutter is more fragile than the sensor

    • @thatsreallyamoon
      @thatsreallyamoon 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Because it would cause the sensor to be further away from the end of the lens. Mirror less cameras work such that the less space you have between the back of the lens and the sensor, the better the image. Anything like you propose requires more space.

    There is also a menu option that can vibrate the camera if you want to try to shake the dust off. Another thing is be sure the camera is off when you change and wait a couple of seconds (if you can) I have been told that dust will be drawn in if current is still going through camera.

    Another Pro tip: Don't go diving with your camera. Well, unless it's an waterproof one like those Action Cams. And sometimes... well, sometimes you get caught by surprise. Like you are at the coast on a windy day and suddenly a wave breaks over you and soaks your camera. Be quick and get it dry as soon as possible. Some say it helps to cover it in rice.

    My best advice is to avoid changing your lens... You could get a second camera and put the other lens on it. Maybe a camera from the last generation or an APS-C vs full frame. You get a backup, one more battery and two different sets of settings. Mirrorless are less bulky so you can easily fit the bodies with the lenses in your bag. No more hesitation, much faster to get the good combination. Love your work btw :)

    Caution regarding swab kits. I had no issues cleaning my Fuji E-1 sensor multiple times and even the X-T1. But insanely i managed to scratch the X-T20. It felt different underneath (like soft or papery) so perhaps some coating changes. Needless to say will never do this again and instead happily fork over £20. Sadly learnt the hard way. Although admittedly DLSR sensors seem to be tougher than mirrorless.

    I once used a fresh can of compressed air to clean the sensor of my camera, of course fluid came out and froze the surface of it. It didn’t affect the image results but the sensor is forever discoloured. So be careful using compressed air in a can as well.

      @@lucasbienaime1476 man I didn’t know how sensitive and important the sensor is to a camera? 😂 But yesterday I took some test shots and didn’t have any funny color flaring or lines. But I did see a lot of dark spots which I believe are just muck from the isopropyl alcohol wipes. I blew up the image and didn’t see any scratches or anything. I ordered a set of swabs and a cleaning solution from Amazon and waiting for it to come next week and I’m going to just wet clean it and hopefully cleans it up. 🙏🏼🤦🏻 But I will NEVER breathe, fog, wipe it with a microfiber clothe anymore. I just got my Canon RP like 3 weeks ago. But seeing a smudge on your sensor I just coundlt help myself but to try and get rid of it.

      @@JasonPierceOfficial yea it turned out it was just dust luckily. After getting the swabs from Amazon used along with the solution I swabbed it twice and checked and all is good. It looks all white now after testing again. Again I was lucky not to scratch anything. I’m pretty sure you’re is the same but learn from this bro. Don’t go cheap and not buy the swabs and solution. They work. And also remember only swipe one way and turn it and swipe back and that’s it and use a clean swab. NEVER reswipe. Like I said, don’t be cheap. I learned my lesson. I have like lots of extras swabs now and the solution will last for years.
