Thanks for great tutorial, everything worked as you described - I waited 1 week and it unlocked. Btw I had to find another thread which suggested that the unlock process above only works for US accounts, so I had to create a new XiaoMi account and select US region but I could still use my UK sim card number ok for the rest of the process. That could help a lot of people outside the US who get stuck because of that.
The unlock process above appears to be of people in the US region. I created a new XiaoMi account and selected the US region, but I need to wait 168 hours, not 121 hours to try unlocking the phone. Therefore, it doesn't seems to matter whether it is a US account or not. Sim card number regions seems to not matter at all as well since I could still use my sim card even though it is not a US sim card.
Thanks, it worked! I had to wait 7 days to unlock successfully due to the counter wait time... But, it the end, it worked, that is what matters most. 😎😉

Hey there, i have the Redmi k40 the Chinese version of the poco f3 , it won't let me signin mi account in the device without Chinese sim/number , how did you manage to signin in your Chinese version devices?
I just realized that some apps such as bank app not allow to be installed on the phone which unlocked bootloader. Like bank app, so if you have that bank account and want to install the bank app on your phone you can't. Then you have to buy a new phone or decide not to that bank app on your phone.
you can just sideload the APK file of the app you can't install via the Google Play Store. you should be able to find the APK file on a website called APK Mirror

I would try another USB port (try multiple) or try another USB cable entirely. if it still happens then it may be a conflict with your OEM ADB/USB Drivers. so you may need to uninstall the ones you have and then reinstall the one for your OEM (Xiaomi in this case)
@@ExplainingAndroid when I was in fastboot mode I took the sim card out of the phone and put it in another phone in order to see the verification text message. does usb connection on fastboot mode depend on the sim card I used to sign up for my mi account?

this tends to be something USB related. it could mean that you need a different USB cable (one meant for data as well as charging). or it could be that you don't have the proper USB/ADB drivers installed from Xiaomi. or that you have a conflict with the USB drivers you have installed. could also mean that the phone doesn't like the USB port you're plugging it into (I don't think they like USB 3.0 ports).
