You’re very welcome @ExplorerSFinso, I’m really glad to hear this channel has helped you grow as a creative. Film school can be very expensive (trust me, I went), it literally took me years to pay off the debt. Anything I can do to help those looking to learn without having to incur huge education costs then I’m in 🎥👌Thanks for subscribing, lots more on the way.
Steve, your YTC added proofs of my short term course stc in videography photography certificate, it has the practical guide but the stc has more theories. I am addicted to your tutorial videos with simple English for us 🇮🇳 Thank you Steve.
Have learned a lot watching your videos--great to see how you're able to use basic equipment, like mobile phone with hand-held gimbal to create cinematic effects. Would be great if you could also share your recommendations for gimbal settings for each type of shot--tilt lock vs. follow vs. fixed vs pov, and when to use active track features. Thanks!
That is a collective library of fake drone shots all in one place. Thank you so much Steve. You are making us more inspiring with your tutorials this video is a must to save for future reference for me when I make a mobile creative video👍👏🏽👏🏽💐😍
Hey Steve thanks. Just bought a gimbal and an extension pole was exactly what I was looking for. Out of all the options I have seen so far I like this light stand solution. Really enjoying your videos, tips and tutorials. Super useful and helpful. Thanks.
*update* I didn't end up buying a light stand. I found a fairly stiff telescopic 3m fibre glass landing net pole. Can be used at 1m, 2m or 3m. Although it's a little bit unwieldy at full 3m with a gimbal, phone, lens and filters. I only had to buy a 1/4" male to 3/8" male. Landing net poles accept 3/8" male. I threadlocked it in. The 1/4" screws into the gimbal.
33 yrs old here and i'm in at school again. and your my teacher. Thanks to your incredible content. i already pay the school exam by leaving a sub with bell and like 👍👍👍
Hi Steve. Many thanks. As always that was such an excellent and educational video. It would be great if you could tell us what your FPS and resolution were as well as which gimbal mode you use to keep the subject framed when you attach it to the light stand and move it up and down. Thanking you in advance. Please DO keep adding videos to your channel. You are an excellent teacher as well as a super excellent smartphone videographer. I am not surprised that you have over a million subscribers. You deserve it
Excellent! Super well done and I learned a lot! Thank you for the beautiful story and the behind-the-scenes for how to pull it off! Much appreciated! :)
Dear Steve, your tutorial videos are adorable. some times while watching it hurt me like psychosis as you don't care about yourself, pushing backward to dangerous edge. I appreciate you Steve. Best wishes to your walking subject as well. No money to get those accessories, just watch your footages. Thank you.
Hi Steve, another great video, thank you so much! A question, though: with your gimbal and phone so high up on the stick, how do you manage to keep your subject in the frame? I haven't noticed a single shot with your subject off frame! How do you do this? And another question, if you please: what mobile app do you use for this? Is it the iPhone's standard kit Camera app or you use anything else (I personally am a big fan of Filmic Pro)? Thank you.
There's this statement in the comments: "All footage was shot on the iPhone 12 using a combination of both the wide angle & standard lens, 4K 60fps. All gimbal moves were shot in 'Pan Follow' mode." Hope this helps.
Great video. Fascinating stuff. I'm just starting out on this journey; just bought my first gimbal. I have a question: What kind of pole are you using to extend the length of your gimbal and to get the camera up so high as to fake a drone shot? That's too long to be a selfie stick. Is it a monopod? A sound (mic) boom? What is it? Obviously, the phone and gimbal on the end of it are heavy enough and the pole is extended far enough that when the cameraman lowers it, the pole does bow quite a bit. Any concerns there? And what kind of connection does it have to screw into the bottom of your gimbal?
Just discovered your channel and I have to say that this video was epic. I am new to mobile photography and making videos. This video has really given me some inspiration.
Brilliant! Just brilliant! I have to admit that I don't know sod all about videography and this is one of the best, if not the best, channels to learn all about it. Binge watching right now (I hope I don't forget to like them all, as I'm wont to do 🙄). All the best! 🙏🏽😎
This is honestly better than a drone. Speaking from experience, the best drone shots are in close to subjects. It’s sometimes hard to make those shots work and I think this method gives you more confidence
It had awkward pacing and the foley sounds didnt pair well at all. Plus, the music was a bit much. I think the shots look great but there was no rhythm to the final cut.
Would you mind explaining what settings on the gimbal you use for each shot? I’m using a DJI OM5, but settings are pretty much the same with different names across the gimbals. When would I use follow, FPC, tilt lock etc for each of these shots?
Another great tutorial Steve. Love Foggintor as a location too. I have run here and swum here (Yes it's bloody cold!) Might have to have a play with a camera here too.
You really give your viewers the real strategies on creating vids.....thanks god you were here ..... I'll try my very best to do your technic and style's....godbless you and your family....
I don´t really want to write this - but - your videos are more like lessons you pay for. They have an amazingly high education value and you should be able to reach 1.000.000 subscibers very soon! You totally deserve it!
Your using Zhiyun Crane M3 can you guide me which gimbal is best choice for indoor Real Estate videography like Zhiyun Crane M3 or DJI Ronin RSC 2 or any other gimbal that you suggest ? Please help
A few questions. Did you film this footage with the native camera app or Filmic Pro? Did you lock your focus on these shots? Some of them look like they were hard to see when you were filming as the phone would be up super high. What frame rate did you shoot in? Thanks a ton for your answers.
Bravo,I didnt even know people could fake drone shots lol,I love how ended,EPIC!!it was just like scenes I watch in the movies, the sounds and music are 😎

hi may I ask what are the benefits of using a lightstand over a monopod are , many thanks
Dear Steve, this one was really fantastic I say. Narration, tech specs on video capture was totally amazing. Thoroughly enjoyed. Cheers!

Thank goodness for the gimbal, keeping the shot straight. Haha

Excellent content, thanks for sharing your experience. How do you know you're shooting the person in the right frame? Memories from Brazil 💚💛
Hi Steve, another great video, thank you so much! A question, though: with your gimbal and phone so high up on the stick, how do you manage to keep your subject in the frame? Good question. I guess the answer to the first question is trial and error. Just keep doing it until it's right.
I had the same question. Is it just experience?
When you use the gimbal, you can set up to focus on the person you want shoot.
There's this statement in the comments: "All footage was shot on the iPhone 12 using a combination of both the wide angle & standard lens, 4K 60fps. All gimbal moves were shot in 'Pan Follow' mode." Hope this helps.
I have been following your channel for a while now and honestly I have learnt more about how to shoot videos. The drone mode is the best! Thank you

Honestly, I didn't like the final film that much, but the single shots are fantastic and really inspiring! You set me on a trail, thanks!!
It had awkward pacing and the foley sounds didnt pair well at all. Plus, the music was a bit much. I think the shots look great but there was no rhythm to the final cut.
@@Zoltoks I think so too - horrible final film, but we are free to do the arrangements we like with these infos.
@@werner.x yea agreed. Good information and ideas. Just felt a bit rushed or bland. Still good stuff though.
