Song - an instrumental, duo rendition of the 1930 standard "I'm Confessin' (That I Love You)" with lyrics by Al J. Neiburg and music composed by Doc Dougherty and Ellis Reynolds.
Pete is an endorser for American Archtop guitars (Nazareth, PA)
Larry & I were scheduled to perform one evening back in 2016 and were planning to drive together to the venue. As a last minute whim, I suggested to Larry that if he could come over a bit early, we could record some tracks. He agreed that it was a good idea. We recorded a single take of about 8 songs. This is one of them.
Larry & I have recorded a number of times through the years. The first time was in the summer of 2000 on a CD titled Pete Smyser & Larry McKenna. A CD-R is available through Amazon: www.amazon.com...

I played tenor sax for many years and so believe me when I say flat out that this guy is getting the sweetest best out of his sax. He is seriously good.
Like a gentle lover he merely caresses the keys and they respond Pure genus.
McKenna absolutely examines the chords to their foundations. Leaves no tone unturned.

The guitarist is a soloists dream. Provides foundation rhythm, super chordal journey through the tune and doesn't get in the way. and a 7 string guitar....

How did you get into duo playing? I've been playing duo gigs a bit lately and its really fun, but that 7th string makes it sound incredible!
Glad you enjoyed the video! I started at about 18 years old performing solo and sometimes duo at restaurants. I've always been interested in performing in those settings and embraced the challenge of making the music sound full and complete despite the limitations involved with performing solo or duo. The 7-string extended bass range really helps in those settings!

My dad (mandolinist) use to play with guitarist Johnny Smith on USO tours while in the service. Your guitar work is reminiscent of all the great classic guitarist then and now.

Hi Sean. I do have quite a few commercially released recordings, some that include Larry, which are available for digital download through CD Baby, itunes, Amazon, etc. I haven't made the decision to release the TH-cam tracks yet, but might someday. Thanks for the suggestion and for your interest!
