I played tenor sax for many years and so believe me when I say flat out that this guy is getting the sweetest best out of his sax. He is seriously good.
Yep, i agree. His modest demeanor belies the brilliance. I'd say if you got kids and you want to inspire them to play the sax, don't ever ask them - just make sure this a favorite to come up on your household background music often, - the rest will take care of itself.
Thanks Harvey! I guess I'll go ahead and cancel the half naked dancing girls and fireworks that we had lined up for the next video. So glad to hear that the music, delivered with heart, is enough for you! Cheers!
McKenna absolutely examines the chords to their foundations. Leaves no tone unturned. Mæstro. The guitarist is a soloists dream. Provides foundation rhythm, super chordal journey through the tune and doesn't get in the way. and a 7 string guitar.... Two well matched guys
Larry is amazing, I agree! We recently recorded some new material (duo and quartet) which should become available this spring. Please keep an eye out for that! Thanks for the comment!
Larry McKenna абсолютное добро. Не "орать", а именно играть, что может быть лучше? Интеллигентнейший музыкант. Larry McKenna is absolute "good". Don't yell, what could be better? The most intelligent musician.
Согласен. Но если проследить по записям с ним,то он в свои почтенные года может играть и весьма энергично,не всем молодым (а тут попались два ролика,где он играет с другими тенористами) под силу играть так.
Larry came along to me from out of nowhere yesterday. Cant believe I never caught him before in my 66 years of digging the Music. You are awesome Larry!
Thank you! Yes, please keep watching (and maybe subscribe to my channel if you haven't already). I have 2 new songs coming soon that feature Larry and can't wait to share them!
Bonjour ! Splendide et harmonieuse interprétation. Bravo à vous 2 !! Joyeux Noël et jouez encore longtemps tous les 2..., pour votre plaisir et pour le nôtre. Bien cordialement. "From France..." Jean-Jacques. :-)
@@PeteSmyser You guys are great! I thinking myself to do something similar. I’m a guitarist too ,but I playing on sax as a second instrument. Unfortunately that style not so popular this time. I love it.By the way you are great on the guitar. Nice model arch top. I have an Eastman Uptown, I bought years back in Sherman Oaks Vintage guitar.
Glad you enjoy this style and era of music. You're right it's not exactly "in-fashion" although there are still plenty of folks who enjoy it... particularly those with a few miles on their odometer.

@@PeteSmyser Thank you, Pete! I will check that out. I just purchased your rendition of "In The Wee Small Hours of the Morning"....from your website. My dad (mandolinist) use to play with guitarist Johnny Smith on USO tours while in the service. Your guitar work is reminiscent of all the great classic guitarist then and now.
Thank you for purchasing "In the Wee Small Hours," & thanks also for the nice compliment about my guitar work! Your dad must have been quite an accomplished musician to have performed with Johnny Smith.
@@PeteSmyser Thank you.....I only wish my Dad could have heard you play! If ever you do a concert a bit closer to Phoenix, AZ, I would love to attend your concert.

Hey Pete, would you ever consider putting the un-youtube-compressed audio from these sessions on an EP on bandcamp or similar site? I'd love to have all these takes on my phone and would love to avoid ripping these on a youtube-mp3 site.
Hi Sean. I do have quite a few commercially released recordings, some that include Larry, which are available for digital download through CD Baby, itunes, Amazon, etc. I haven't made the decision to release the TH-cam tracks yet, but might someday. Thanks for the suggestion and for your interest!
The 11 people who dislike this video fail to recognise pure musical genius at its best. Bravo Larry Mc Kenna!

These guys lack the multiple cigarette butt burns, red wine and pizza topping stains on their shirts to be considered true jazz musicians.
Ok, I'll discuss it with Larry and we'll see what we can do... but besides those visual concerns, I hope you enjoyed the music.
