As a real estate agent, I fully supported Janet for her stand, some think this course was free, it was not free, the agents had to pay for it and it was a total waste of time.
Hang on a moment Janet Dickson has had to pay to be a real estate agent. Its all bollocks to force someone to have to attend these courses. I would not attend on principal full stop and I would find a group of realtors who could start their own real estate company. What a waste of peoples time a sham. So your other weak kneed co workers did not make a stand with you.
Utterly ridiculous requirement. Why is this bloody nonsense necessary? Good on you Janet and hopefully powers to be will see common sense. What the hell has learning about Maori matters have to do with me buying or selling my property?
As I've said before, "Tolerance will reach such a level that intelligent people will be banned from thinking so as not to offend the imbeciles." Dostoevsky.
Without a doubt, this year will be worse than the last. I lost a lot of money last year as a result of bad investment choices that I would not have made if I hadn't been so worried about my portfolio. I kept investing, but I couldn't determine whether to start paying for a house. In the end, I sold my positions, and the house needed more work than I had planned. I'm not sure how long I can keep going like this
True. My portfolio was diversified across several markets with the help of a financial planner, and were able to achieve over a million in net profit among high dividend yield equities, ETFs, and bonds. It is vital that you have a variety of exposure, including in firms that are currently generating cash flows.
She is right. What has the maori language got to do with selling property to non maori? For arguments sake, if i was to buy a house, real estate agents won't be using any form of maori culture towards me. It would be the same if i was selling a house. Like she said, it should be upto the agents if they want to do the course. Not compulsory
I'm in real estate. The online course took about an hour and a half. It was similar to jumping on a REINZ course we must do every year-10 hours of non-verifiable and 10 hours of verifiable. All agents complete training throughout the year at their own pace. It was great to learn about how the Maori view land and how everyone born on the land has a connection to it. I enjoyed it and had a more profound respect and understanding of the treaty and land ownership. I'm a proud Kiwi of Indian descent, born and raised in New Zealand. Probably good timing to have a better understanding and respect for Maori views, as the government is changing legislation to the Overseas Investment Act to make it easier for big international corporations to buy up land as long as they rent the properties. All Kiwis need to understand their ownership and rights to their land and what the govt is up to right now, because overseas investors are coming for it.
If you don't find a place for all that kaimoana, I'd be as keen as to take it all off your hands. Flip me a text with the money you need to do the deal and we can shake on it and she's all done. Whatcha reckon?
The training includes schooling about Te Tiriti 'in a real estate context'. So will this mean that agents will need to apply Article Two of Te Tiriti by ensuring that Queen Victoria or persons appointed by her are given the right to purchase any properties being sold by Maori? Other than that, Te Tiriti doesn't seem to contain any guidance for how a real estate agent should operate. Nothing in there about ascertaining property value, sitting in rows behind the male agents when competing for sole agencies, advertising standards, writing contracts, conducting negotiations, carrying out utu on those who don't complete sale agreements quickly, filing sales with the appropriate statutory bodies or what brand of champagne should accompany the big payout for a successful sale. Oh but wait, the Waitangi Tribunal probably invented some relevant principles. Clearly, the intention of Te Tiriti reading between the lines was to ensure that any champagne comes from grape vines that are fully vaccinated against white colonialism, that all contracts be written in Manglish, and that Maori land can only be purchased with blankets and muskets. So clearly, Ms Dickson needs to do this course if she is to know how to do her job.
Government is full of pigeon English now making many basic communications almost indecipherable. The new government will hopefully reign in this complete mess. It serves no purpose to mangle two languages and is actually culturally disrespectful. Use the language as it is intended or not at all for the appropriate audiences.
Ask the Flintstones I think they spoke the same language, they might sell them a few rocks, because this wokester think they still lives under the rocks 😂
have seen a report that an american circuit judge, nominated for a high court judge, had 136 cases heard and awaiting her judgment ... I believe this type of situation is not uncommon among lawyers and judges here that cause massive delays in resolving the issues .. justice in a timely manner appears to be a dream in todays world ...
Well done Janet for following your principles. realtors should be able to choose what parts of study courses they want to do just as other professionals like accountants and doctors can do
True. Seems that neither the platform nor News Talk ZB are brave enough to challenge the Western MSM propaganda in relation US NATO intentionally provoking Russia to attack Ukraine as a preemptive strike as Ukraine was about to attack Lughansk, Donetz areas.
It's not relevant and should never have been forced on anyone. If you want to learn Maori go hard knowing more then one language is a bonus, if you don’t that is your choice, end of.
Why should anyone be required to learn a form of pidgin to retain their job. Maori is English made to sound Maori. Take all the transliterations out and you are left with the language deemed sufficiently innnadequate for communication in the more advanced culture arriving in NZ that Maoridom adopted an alphabet, a concept unknown to them before European arrival, their language being wholly aural, no letters, and created the combination of two languages, pidgin. All too much is made of the merit of the use of this particular form of pidgin.
So what will happen if a lease sale of Maori land came up. Or anything Maori house near a PA will it be ok if she don't get those jobs. Or will it be a racial cry of entitled Maori?
