Thanks for the idea. I slipped over in Edinburgh and broke my ribs. Since then, l have re- soled any new shoes. I cannot believe shoe makers are getting away with this unsafe practice of selling slippery shoes
I usually ask the friendly neighborhood cobbler to stick a very thin rubber half sole and heel on leather shoes. Not only do the shoes not slip, they don't squeak either 😅
I knew about this but cannot make myself do it to a very nice leather sole. It is never that slippery and few mins of walk you will get a nice patina on the sole anyway
A rubber half sole put on by a good shoe repairer would make a lot more sense!
This works well in a pinch!
Sandpaper is a good on too-roughs up those fibers just enough.
