    I was a goalie in the 80’s and 90’s. You don’t know what heavy pads are like, try leather pads that get heavier as the game goes on because they are absorbing water.

    I said the same thing with my Brian's gear. Then I tried gnetik 4 on ice and it was perfect. Companies are constantly innovating and gear is changing. For example, the BOA was a huge upgrade on the glove as I found my current glove gets very loose during games. Another example is the x strap not being on gnetik. So these companies do listen to feedback. So don't say never because never is a long time.

    Trav since you were living in Parksville did you ever attend Gold in the net goalie school? Perry used to do training for Henrik Lundqvist back in the day and runs a fantastic program. His philosophy on tending is definitely interesting and I think it could suit your style

    Hey Trav. Get a hard bouncing ball and find a concrete wall to throw it against. Throw it so that it bounces before it hits the wall and track it with "eyes on", all the way to your hand. It's best to start from distance, alternate hands and work your way in, juggling is good but not a game like situation. You can do the same type of practise with a partner but substitute the rubber ball with a tennis ball. Remember, it's all about tracking the ball to your hands.

    I know this ain’t related but anyone have a pair of true one piece skates and what do you think of them? They seem pretty stiff and protective already but is it worth getting the increased impact protection? I ordered them without it yesterday and was wondering if I should add it on. Thanks!

    Apologies if you get asked this a lot, but do you wear the cage through choice or because of the rules in the league you play? And if it’s choice, why do you use it over a cat eye?

    Why does a junior B stopper need custom made pro level gear? Only pros should have pro level gear.

  • @ezaquatics8991
    @ezaquatics8991 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Legit question, how the hell do you buy gear that you haven't tried beforehand? I've NEVER had a store not let me demo a set of pads/gloves or contact a rep to get me a demo set. I feel like ALL of these complaints are your own fault for not knowing exactly what you were buying. I mean, my custom Vaughn set was EXACTLY what I wanted, I have ZERO complaints, but I tried the "Off The Shelf" gear and changed what I disliked about it to what I knew I liked... Just feels amateurish man...

    • @trav4oilers
      @trav4oilers  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      To be honest with you. I have a pretty good idea of what I like and dont like and what I will or won't like. Obviously there are quite a few duds but for the most part it goes well. I like butterfly style pads, single tee, thin and snappy blocker board, etc. These are some of the many things I look for
