- It's our final days on the John Muir Trail and our final episode of the series. Andy blasts over Kearsarge Pass to pick up our last resupply in Independence, CA. Brittany unravels on Forester Pass, the highest point on the JMT at 13,200 feet. Then it's all uphill to the summit of Mt. Whitney, the highest mountain in the contiguous United States. Will we make it? What happens next?

We’re Brittany and Andy, and in July 2021, we set off on a 200-mile journey that began in Yosemite National Park and ended at the top of Mt. Whitney, the highest mountain in the contiguous United States. Along the way, we questioned our sanity, made some amazing friends, cried real tears of joy and even started a new chapter in our lives. Come along with us as we document our journey from Bad Hikers to thru-hikers on the John Muir trail!
My wife and I are doing sobo JMT late summer and I am so thankful your series showed up on our feed this morning. Trust me you weren’t the only ones crying at the top of Forester Pass heck we were feeling your moment too and hope we too can make that emotional connection with the trail. Though we are 2x your age we are going to give it all we have and your amazing series will be stuck in my head as we see it out there for the first time. I hope you guys someday so the PCT, you two are great on camera!

04/04/24 thanks for taking me along on your adventure. Today is my wife’s and my 43rd anniversary ❤. I pray your marriage will last as long as ours. There will be times of struggle, just remember to think about the good times you had.

Andy, way to be "that guy" who goes to get the resupply to give his fiancee a much needed rest day. I would have loved to see the B-roll footage of Brittany: lounging about, working on her sun tan; catching some fish with her bare hands; building a survival hut; knitting a sweater from marmot fur, etc.
Stay connected in your relationship in the way that only a thru-hike models for us. Thru-hiking allows (creates) for us a simple approach to life, fills our souls with peace from the quiet that the trail provides, and gives us time and space - to be together with each other free of the distractions of the world.
As fellow thru-hikers, my wife, Barbara, and I are looking forward to your next adventure.

I enjoyed your JMT series so much! My husband and I hiked it in 2015 as my first backpacking trip and have returned to the Sierra every year since. I especially enjoyed your narration, and you perfectly captured the “quiet” of the final climb up Whitney. Many thoughts were going on in my head at the time, but it felt different than all the days leading up to it.
What a wonderful comment, thank you Krista! And yes, exactly - Whitney was so, so quiet. All the footage we took on the way up was silent except for the sound of the rocks under our feet! And go to Punch Bowl Falls for me, please. I've never made it there. I've only seen in it pictures. I really hope the area has been destroyed by the fires that have scorched so much of the Columbia River Gorge.
Greg, we actually made it to Punch Bowl falls a few weeks ago! Eagle Creek definitely still shows signs of fire, but there’s so, so much new growth. It was gorgeous.
I did it in 2021 and it was glorious
