in mortal kombat 9 instead of trading attacks player 1 would just get the hit. this was a problem in the johnny cage mirror as his pressure involved a lot of normals that are 0 on block. so the mirror wasnt 5-5
I would have loved it if Slayers Mappa Punch had more recovery on whiff tbh. Otherwise, I feel like he is mooostly fine? Like, cool, I dodge his neutral skip via jumping and he punishes me for avoiding his attack...

There's an invisible value that goes up whenever you play "aggressively." It's the same value that dictates when you get negative penalty. When that value gets high enough, it'll give you positive bonus. You'll notice he got positive bonus right after he did his super, which is because doing a super adds to the value considerably

I think even in this tournament Memetoast had a round where they were attacking so much that they chipped away half of enemy’s hp and still didn’t get it
