Chris Hayes thank you for pointing out so straight and clear the political bias we see in the US supreme court today. Here is my remark from Norway about how judges are appointed. Judges are not appointed by politicians, nor by their political views. They are appointed by a non-political committee, and chosen based on their merits, in competition with other applicants. This goes for all 3 levels;, government, state, and local. Thus securing the law from being overtaken by political interests.

Honest criticism is a healthy thing not just for any democracy but also for people. To remind ourselves we can make mistakes and by listening to healthy criticism we may resolve or amend those mistakes.
“Criticism may not be agreeable, but it is necessary. It fulfils the same function as pain in the human body; it calls attention to the development of an unhealthy state of things. If it is heeded in time, danger may be averted; if it is suppressed, a fatal distemper may develop." - Winston Churchill

We may not have a de jure Royal Family, but we for sure have some Kingly cows out there who are untouchable and somehow it always works out for them. You can't have true democracy while having the wealthiest engineer control so that while we may argue over flat coke vs flat Pepsi, no true change that benefits we the people is possible. So, the joining of two road is no longer an intersection in Wisconsin (as that is a banned word), what is it?
In Orwell's book 1984 they had a dictionary of approved words that was continually being reprinted as the meaning of the words was changed by the powers that be, some words were removed as inappropriate and some were put back as "new" words, and you had to be using the newest version of the dictionary, or you were in serious trouble.
1984 was supposed to be fiction, not an instruction manual!!

Give the guy some decent audio, for cryin' out loud. Some wall hangings and baffles along the ceiling are cheap to implement and not at all rocket science. You know? MY education WAS based on eliminating the real truth about what happened in American history. Custer really did have it coming…I was in sensed when I found out truths… We were lied to, the truth was evaded, there were no critical race theories, things were glossed over and never mentioned. We deserved to be told the real story of our history not grow up with the American dream fallacy. I was just so angry finding out about the treatment of the Irish in this country… to use that as an example. The truth is what sets you free not cover ups and lies… I’m 72, there were also a group of Hispanic kids that I was in school with that got passed from grade to grade every year and they either spoke NO English or minimal… They fell through the cracks of our education system… I’m talking 1-12th grade. They were just not noticed as important I guess. I was a child along with them and it dawned on me their situation much later… So yes… I went to school but… what did I really learn… a bunch of propaganda and not much truth actually… I’m still angry about that…

What I don't understand is why does Climate Change Actions have to go through Congress for a vote? 🤔🧐 This is NOT a political problem its a environmental and urgent emergency problem.
This is a NATIONAL EMERGENCY of epic proportion and should be addressed through the President's Executive Action, forget a vote. This problem is beyond politics at this point & if we don't invest & do something to deal with Climate Change there will soon be no Congress to go to due to our Plant dieing. I don't believe Manchin will take a pay cut to save the Planet & it shouldn't be up for debate! This reminds me of the end of the original movie "Total Recall" with Arnold Schwarzenegger. When him and the girl was desperately fighting for air & if we don't deal with Climate Change heaven forbid but that might just happen to us & this planet!

This is getting scary. If they keep going in this direction I'm very concerned about people's reactions. If they think the nation's reaction to George Floyd's murder was volatile it will be worse if people start realizing we are headed toward Authoritarian rule. I hope people can see the bullying and infringement on the majority's rights that are already starting in states like Texas, Florida, and Mississippi to name a few. I was horrified by Texas's "heartbeat" law that technically banned all abortion under any circumstances and made it okay for people to stalk women under the pretense that they suspected they might get an abortion. Remember this followed voter suppression laws that are meant to oppress women, POC, the elderly, the disabled, and basically anyone that doesn't hold their views. What's next?

In the scene where the prosecution agree to drop the charges, had I been the defense lawyer I would have said openly in court I will get a boatload of lawyers here from Delaware & go through your history of incarcerating black men & get any other illegal cases overturned & get you disbarred. This happened in the 80's. OMG. Words fail me at just how unjust the country can be.

@@susanford2388 Try reading his book Susan, a movie is fine but can be limiting because of the time factor. As a newly licensed lawyer it must have been extremely heartbreaking. In days gone by I had to assist with very old Mexican patients and white nurses because of the distrust that they were raised with and were witness to, consequently learned how to fear them and the distrust extends outside of a hospital/nursing home settings, with valid reasons. Happened in the 80's yes and is still happening. All I can say is this Susan, I'm glad I'm old because looking toward the future I see only more of the same because the injustice toward people of color, it just goes on and on.

    • @susanford2388

@@maryrodger5130 You are right a film does not always do justice to a book. Normally when I see a film is based on a book I generally read the book. A couple of years ago I read "The Help". I loved it but goodness heartbreaking. I truly have a hard time with injustice & domestic violence towards women. Basically injustice in all of its forms. As you have read the book, what happened to the prosecuting lawyers, were other cases also investigated.? As I said I would have jumped on that one right away. The death penalty is so final I wonder if perhaps it should be removed altogether everywhere. Britain got rid of it in 1965. The film 10 Rillington place, a true story, sentenced the wrong man to the gallows & a few years later got the right man. In 1953 there was another case of rushing to the gallows, the case of Craig & Bentley, after that British Gov. just scrapped it, evidently too much of a headache. When you have time Google the cases I have mentioned both men that were hanged were, as they referred to them back then, simpletons.
