    Barbie The Welder is an American metal sculptor, published author of six books, and an advocate for the skilled trades from Pompano Beach, Florida.
    Growing up in a deeply creative home, Barbie’s Mom is a published cartoonist and her Dad a jack of all trades, Barbie was encouraged by both parents to work with her hands and mind to create. Inspired by the movie Cast Away, starring Tom hanks, Barbie attended an adult welding program at Elmira, New York Boces in November 2007 and was hired at Cameron Manufacturing And Design in Horseheads, New York in March 2008 where she learned the art of welding and fabrication from the brilliant craftsman she worked with. Barbie took her fabrication skills home and taught herself how to design and create art in her garage after work at night and on the weekends.
    Barbie quit her job she loved to realize her dream and become a full-time artist September 1, 2014.
    Because of the influence Bob Ross had on her growing up, Barbie began teaching how to weld art through her TH-cam channel in 2015 after not being able to find resources to learn.
    Soon after she was invited by a publisher to write a book teaching how to weld art, and How To Weld Horseshoe Art; 30 Projects You Can Easily Weld At Home was born. Barbie went on to write and self publish five more books, How To Weld Scrap Metal Art; 30 Easy Welding Projects You Could Make At Home, How To Weld Silverware Animals Metal Art Welding Projects For Fun and Profit, The Inspiration Blueprint; How To Design and Create Your Inspired Life, Fuck You Fuel; How To Turn Shit Into Sugar, and The Artist Guide To Branding, Marketing and Selling Art Online.
    Working with Bogi Latiner for a month in 2017 on Bogi’s Girl Gang Garage all woman’s frame up build of a 57 Chevy pick up later unveiled at Sema became a mentorship for Barbie that continues to help her grow herself and her business. Barbies other inspirations include Indian Larry and Billy Lane both who caught her attention through the TV series biker build off in early 2000. The craftsmanship and creativity of both men spoke to her soul.
    Barbie started out riding on the gas tank of her dad‘s Honda motorcycle because she was too little to hold on sitting behind him, so when she was asked by Jesse James Dupree, lead singer of Jackyl, to design and create two sculptures for Harley Davidson she jumped at the chance driving the 24 hours to Sturgis by herself from NY and sculpting HOGs 35th anniversary sculpture live at Sturgis motorcycle rally at the Pappy Hoyle Campground and then she returned home to sculpt Harley Davidson’s 115th anniversary sculpture in her garage which was later presented to Harley Davidson on stage during the Jackyl concert at the 115 anniversary celebration in Milwaukee.
    Barbie has welded live at Americade Motorcycle Rally, SEMA show in Vegas for Miller Welders, Harley Davidsons 115th Anniversary, and at shows and events up and down the east coast.
    Barbie has designed and created sculptures for Miller Welders, the American Welding Society, Chicago Pneumatic, Carolina Shoe Company, two cities and clients in many countries.

    I subscribed to your channel.
    I like your style!!
    Nice job on the table, I built one already that I lost in a fire and learned a couple things along the way.
    I didn't notice on yours but I found you really need to clamp the frame pieces to the table before tacking for a perfectly flat table.
    Some work from the inside out, you went from the perimeter. It's all good!!

    Great video - I was going to build myself another table, but getting a Certiflat make way more sense. Thanks for sharing. The 3X4 footer looks like it would work great for me if I put some legs and locking wheels on it. Very cool.

    Hey Barbie, I just found your channel today and I had a visual of a Barbie Doll all rigged out as a welder.
    Okay, so I have an overactive imagination, it does come in handy when fixing stuff or making things [welding] for projects around the school I work at. Gotta love those Fab Block Tables, but I cant afford one, so I am in the process of making my own fixturing welding table.

    I just heard about you from Mrhevyshevy. That's a really nice table. My wife used to do a little craft welding but can't anymore do to heart problems and an ICD (pacemaker ). So she has been doing wood working. Also, I speak from experience, get some knee pads and maybe a mat to stand on. After 28 years of working on concrete and crawling under and climbing over machinery and conveyors my knees are shot, my feet, hips and back hurt. So, protect the rest of your body as you do your eyes and hands. I will be watching more videos.

    Nice job on the table and videos. I know the prep and weld time would be much greater, but after going through the build yourself would TIG be better for heat/distortion control? The tab and slot box design creates all the strength and stability. The weld beads just keep it together. Don't get me wrong I am a huge fan of the MIG process, but TIG is such a finesse process when you need heat control.

    • @BarbieTheWelder

    When you tried to lift that table I kept saying "put your leg on the other side. Put your leg on the other side!". And then, you heard me!!
    Q: How thick is that plate, and how flat is it? It looks surprisingly thinner than I expected.

    I didn't have all those long clamps when I put mine together. I bought alot of all-thread, washers and nuts to clamp mine together to weld it. It was easier to square up, but damn was it heavier. Lol

  • @v8trauma
    @v8trauma 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Someone's put a lot of thought into that. If I had the room I'd probably go for one, or whatever the UK equivalent is. I bought a couple of pop up welding tables, they're OK to keep the work off the ground, but that's about all.

    • @BarbieTheWelder
      @BarbieTheWelder  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      +v8trauma yeah I've had two pop up tables and the only thing I found them good for was taking them to shows to weld live. The provide no stability.

    It's a pity this company does not ship to Europe. The most similar tables I can find here seem to be super-high-tech products made for industrial use. And they start at 2.500€ + shipping !

    Hi Barbie, what measurements are the profiles of the base legs of the perforated table

  • @angusbull4191
    @angusbull4191 7 ปีที่แล้ว +9

    Serious welders build their own table😊

    • @BarbieTheWelder
      @BarbieTheWelder  7 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      +angus bull Yes they do but when it is more cost effective to purchase a table with the capabilities of this one serious welders make strategic business decisions.

      i'm a noob and even i built my own welding table... with my jobs welder... and my jobs materials LMFAO, hey! I BOUGHT THE CASTOR WHEELS THOUGH! LMFAO. OH AND I PUT MY OWN VISE ON IT, and i did have to buy a piece of 2.5" square tubing because my vise has a mount for a rig trailer hitch, so i made like a hitch receiver essentially, just one 6' piece of suare tubing on the underside of my table top, adds structural integrity, and now i can slide out my vise and put it on the left or right side of my table! i'm pretty proud of that table. built it all on my own XD

    • @JR-qz3zt
      @JR-qz3zt 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ya. My table top is 4'x5'x1/2" to within 1/32" flat cross measurement. The frame is 2x2 120 wall sq tube and the legs are 4x4 80 wall. It rides on 4 4" 500# casters. It also weighs about 700#. I totally get this table Barbie bought. Those holes are handy if you know fabrication. I use jigs alot though so..... However, even though I spent less than $200 and about 4 hours building my table, I can see where I might get one of these in the future. Let's face it, I don't have a mag drill and I am totally not ambitious enough to drill that many holes with a hand held.

      @@draytonPW Exactly. I was on a tight budget at the time. But, Barbie's weld table is pretty freaking awesome. I'd totally trade straight across.
