Maybe try a longer lens, like a 3" or a 4" lens. They are more forgiving to less than perfectly flat surfaced. I love JDS and how they offer suggestions for processing. Another great video, Trevor. Thanks.
I'm engraving on a sheet of black/gold letherette and my end product ends up full of gold dust. I'm cleaning the leatherette with LA awesome and a microfiber towel.(Epilog FusionEdge 60watt) Do you have any suggestions?
@MakerExperiment I ran bottom to top, no air assist, used auto focus. Settings were 340 DPI, 65% Speed(I'm not sure if that's where the speed actually changes) and 14% Power.
Feel free to email me with a picture. Without seeing what the result is it’s hard to say. Try throwing it out of focus a little bit and using a higher DPI. I would try blowing it off before using any kind of cleaner.
Metallic Leatherette is so challenging. Thanks for the tips!
It is, but it just takes learning your machine and material. There’s no easy button to all of this.

I’ll have to try the 4” lens I have. Thanks for the tip.

Were you running air assist? Were you engraving from the bottom up? I’d like to know if you were in focus or out of focus as well.
