With a large hopper door to accept small parcels like prescription drugs, box of checks or DVD's this large mailbox will work for the home or office. The hopper door opening is just over 11 inches wide and 4.5 inches high. The overall size of the mailbox is 12.5” W x 24” H x 22" D (including overhang).
There is an outgoing mail which is: 2"H x 10"W x 6"D, and it includes a flag that you install after delivery. It comes standard with a durable high-grade 5 pin lock. There are several other lock options, which keep your mail safe from mail theft.
There are a number of lock options and an aluminum post can be added to the order. It includes an “anti-fish” feature located at end of the hopper door. This helps prevent fishing which is a common method used by mail thieves.

Nice about the rear option, that's what I've been looking for as I'm wanting to fence in my front yard and both not have to have USPS enter nor me have to exit to get my mail. Just put the box at the fence so they can drop & I can retrieve inside the yard.

How is it secured to the post?

The mailbox is secured to the post with nuts & bolts which are included when you purchase both the mailbox and post together. You can purchase separately some thread lock at a hardware store which makes it very difficult to or impossible to take the bolts off after they are tightened.

What happens if the mailman forgets to close the lid and later there is a downpour?

Due to the hopper style door most if not all of the rain would be blocked from entering the mailbox. Unlike any other non locking mailbox which when left open would get wet. So with a normal mailbox the mail would get wet but with this one your mail has a much better chance of staying dry if the postal carrier left it open.

I cannot understand the reasoning for having a locking mailbox BUT then you would put your unsecured outgoing mail in the front of box! PLUS you’re announcing to a thief to come and get it by putting the 🚩flag up! 🤷🏻‍♀️🙄😖

That has a very simple answer. Some people live in a neighborhood where they feel comfortable enough to leave the mail out for the postal carrier to pick up and in those cases they can put up the flag, other who do not can either not put up their flag and the postal carrier will still see the outgoing mail and can pick it up or just don't leave any out going mail, just take it to the post office. Simple!
