Finally my life is complete. I have reached my goal and completed my bucket list. I'm the FIRST ONE to post a comment. One of the best, if not the best tech channels on the entire internet. You guys rock!
Always good to see workstations up and running. Typing this on my T3600 with an E5-2665 with 64 GBs of RAM and a GTX 1070 Amp Extreme. Running off tow 6 pin to 8 pin adapters for a couple years now with no issues.
I’m intrigued by this build. I want to play higher end games, but I can’t be bothered with appearances, nor am I much concerned with anything past 1060 resolution. I’d probably be happy with a step down from that.
I love this and seeing as how my laptop recently took a crap on me I've been researching how to build the cheapest but most solid gaming pc possible and I have to say you could likely get some better equipment both in terms of the cpu and graphic cards. You do run into some issues with power but nothing that can't be sorted out for a decent cost. I've been eyeing amd components because the amount of cores and threads plus clock speed you get for your money makes it so much better of a value cpu wise vs intel and then on the gpu side same goes for amd gpus vs nvidia but due to the fact that there's way more use nvidias out there then used amds you might actually have a easier time finding a sweet deal on a used not so old gen nvidia card. What i want to see is if making the jump from gtx vs rtx makes a big difference and also what is more important gpu clock speed or vram in order to get good graphics and gaming experience. Whats crazy to me is that bit rate doesn't seem to matter as much since most cards after 2020 in the 20 series and up will have a decent enough bit rate so that really won't matter so much as some of the other specs. I've also been debating going the mini pc route and possibly getting a z1 extreme set up or something similar and if that integrated graphics card isn't enough to run many newer games on medium settings then maybe experiment with a egpu because I really like the idea of have the gpu external and being able to switch it to many devices as I start to buy other things like a mobile handheld gaming set up like the legion go for example. In fact I'm thinking getting a legion go and a egpu is like the ultimate best of all worlds set up.
Ive recently built my own pc,has a i7 4790,rx 590,24gb 1600mhz ram,2x 240gb ssds,gaming case with rgb fans,upgraded 120mm cpu cooler and a evga 600w psu all for £260 which is around 320 usd
I have nearly the exact same build. It's got the same thinkstation with the e3-1275 v5 I've upgraded the ram to 24gb because on the photos I though that it was single channel 16gb's. It has a 1660 ti that is too big to fit in so I have a pcie extension cable. I see that the card in the video fits so maybe I just needed to reseat my gpu. 1tb hdd 1660 TI 24GB RAM E3-1275 V5 I build it a little less than a month ago I believe. My total build price is about $220
Issue there is the 6600 draws a lot more power, which would push the 400 watt PSU in this thing. Honestly the 1660 is a tad bit worrying because of their adaptor. I'd have put in a 1650 super in it in order to stay well under the power supply limits.
I am building an old micro atx Biostar Mb with an Amd athlon 2 640 4 core I got for free. I'm throwing in a 30 dollar Quadro K4000 4gb variant and a few 2.5 Dogfish ssd's(say what you want about them, they work great for me) I already have an Asus Strix 3 for gaming but this wont be bad for a 2nd "entertainment pc"
Next time, when trying Xeon OEMS, check if it supports Quad Channel or Triple Channel memory. Also when you ran Fortnite, it was heavily bottle necked by CPU. Next time, try DirectX12. It will run much smoother with stronger CPU and GPU.

So, the first issue--and this is a serious question--is to interrogate why you want a gaming laptop. If it's because of something like, say, you're a college student that goes back to your parents' house every weekend, that'd be a situation where it makes more sense to put your desktop PC budget towards the gaming laptop, and one of the few situations where that really makes sense. If it's Just Because, then you might want to second-guess how important a gaming laptop really is compared to spending the money on a desktop PC and then getting a netbook or other lightweight, iGPU-based laptop on the side if you need a portable computer. It's worth noting that laptops without a dGPU tend to be lighter and have better battery life than gaming laptops. If you're insistent, that budget is going to give you trouble (gaming laptops are bloody spendy), and you might be looking for something like a used gaming laptop or--depending upon how important it is that it's a proper laptop as opposed to just a portable gaming device--a handheld PC like the Steam Deck or something.

my dell xps 8700 with a chinese 8gb 580(570) and the stock intel 4790 does that. It even plays 4k at medium-low settings. (google it). Though that lands you no windows 11 upgrade path, and only the 4790k is compatible and faster by only by 10%. I love it.
Does it use a standard 24 pin motherboard connector? You could probably replace the PSU with something a bit juicier if it has the right ports on the motherboard.
