Alex Salmond accuses Scottish government of acting illegally in Sturgeon saga

  • NICOLA Sturgeon is facing calls to resign tonight after new legal documents were published showing the Scottish Government WAS warned about its case against Alex Salmond.
The government has published emails showing it continued a legal fight with Mr Salmond despite its lawyers advising it was likely to lose and the Tories said they will submit a vote of no confidence in Ms Sturgeon.
It comes after the Lord Advocate blasted “baseless” claims the Scottish Government influenced the Crown Office’s controversial intervention in redacting Alex Salmond’s evidence.
James Wolffe QC has appeared in front of the Holyrood committee probing the unlawful investigation of harassment complaints about the former First Minister.
It comes as we revealed Permanent Secretary Leslie Evans may have destroyed notes of a meeting with Nicola Sturgeon linked to the harassment probe.
On Friday, Mr Salmond said he has "no doubt" that Ms Sturgeon broke the ministerial code - but said it wasn't for him to say if she should resign.
Ms Sturgeon is expected to give evidence at the Holyrood inquiry on Wednesday in the final evidence session of the inquiry before it finishes its report.

@@lukeallison3713'Polls' lol Who conducted this poll? How many people were asked? And who counted the results? You can't beat an actual referendum in that very question, where far more people were asked, in which voted 55% to remain, which was funnily enough the same percentage of Scots that DIDN'T vote for the SNP in the last general election just over a year ago, which indicates people haven't changed their minds. If anything, with everything that's come out about the SNP recently, their popularity seems to have gone down, perhaps not surprisingly.
When the referendum was held, it was agreed to be a 'once in a generation/lifetime opportunity', and this waa agreed and stated at the time, in fact the SNP, Salmond and Sturgeon signed the Edinburgh agreement to that effect, and promised they would drop asking for leaving the UK if they lost. They can't just ask again just because they didn't get the result they wanted, so no, there isn't a mandate for a second referendum.

Salmond is poised, calm, rational, and effective. The full truth is yet to emerge but from what we know so far the campaign against him was not motivated by personal malice or even political expediency. It looks as if they did not care about Salmond at all - all they cared about was virtue signalling their own squeaky clean procedure in support of the Me Too movement. Women must be believed at all costs, and if an innocent man goes to jail, be he the highest in the land, then that is a small price to pay for a feminist victory. They picked the wrong man, and then screwed up. Salmond is tenacious and fighting for his reputation, and for that of every falsely accused man in the country.

We hope that the Scottish people wouldn’t want to vote yes as it has always been the plan of the SNP to swap Westminster rule for Brussels rule - if you look back in history, Westminster is historically England and Scotland joined as one, under one royal family and one government, it would be a disgrace to the memory of our ancestors who fought, bled and died side by side as one to keep undemocratic continental rule away from the British Isles, it saddens many people that a party like the SNP has come along and tried to break up our mutual political union - I would understand the want for independence if England conquered Scotland and forced them into the union like they did with Ireland, but they didn’t, we joined together and became one of the most successful nations in the history of the world and still to this day remain in the top 5 for power / economy / influence.
Look at how well the U.K. government has dealt with the Covid vaccines - securing them across the world and bringing them to their people to take if they want them, we are literally still leading the world in science (100m from the French vaccine before the French even get any, because our government had the brains to supply them with funding, facilities and the means to create) which has led the French to go absolutely ballistic with Emmanuel Macron who completely failed to secure them before Boris.

@@99oilers55 actually the evidence that has been released states that she knew about the allegations 4 months prior to when she said she did, and that the meeting notes had been “destroyed”. And it’s not about when she knew, the reason that only matters is to determine why she never recorded the meeting in her house on 2nd April if she had prior knowledge of the subject matter. How many times is she going to change her story on this. Also one of the other breach of the ministerial code is misuse of public funds. This is because her government pressed on with a case that they were told 2 months prior would fail in court. They were then made to admit this to the public and pay £512,000 in damages into Alex Salmond. How people can defend this corrupt woman is beyond me.
