Don't get me wrong, some of my best friends are soccer fans, but sometimes our association football/soccer fans here in the US seem a little desperate to experience the really crazy fan energy they've got in Europe.
Despite their attempts often falls short It really irks me that the devoted US fans doesn't get a bit of respect for at least trying their best to create an atmosphere. At least they are trying.
You mention empty seats at the front, some competitions have stricter safety rules than others and clubs will sometimes be required to have a couple empty rows at the front if their seats are too close so that the stewards have space to watch the crowd.
American soccer is... improving. Slowly, but it gets mostly our 4th-rate athletic talent. American football, basketball, and baseball get the bulk of the elite athletes.
you mean US soccer, most of America has been playing football for over a hundred years, you guys are just late to the party, but good to have you finally join the most popular sport on earth on a more competitive level.
Rare Tuesday drop . Love it ! I think the European fans have been doing it longer , so they have it down to a science. US will figure it out as soon as they win a World Cup . That’s a challenge !
OMG, ED, I'm so sorry. I have squandered shoutouts, without once thinking of you. You're at Diane's beck and call 24/7 for whatever she wants! Thank you for your excellent skills to make these videos so perfect 😊
Remember in America that soccer or what you call football is really the fifth most popular sport behind American Football, Basketball, Baseball, and Hockey so you really don't see as much passion as with American Football.
I wouldn't be so sure of that Diane. We may look at the box scores and root on the red, white, and blue, but we really don't have a taste for the game. I've tried to watch USMNT matches and I just didn't find it that interesting.
I think we did beat Ice Hockey already. I mean some exerts say we even beat baseball, most predict we will beat Baseball by 2023 end. Baseball declines by 5.8% and Football goes up by 12.3%. Not much time for Baseball left
Long term planning suggestion. You should plan a trip for next year's Thanksgiving in the USA. Find a family that could host you for Thanksgiving, but also has access to take you to a college football game the Saturday before T-Day. That Saturday usually has a lot of 'cross town rival' college football games. But, you want to go with a family that will let you experience the 'pre-game' tailgate parties that go on, with all kinds of foods and fun stuff. you should target somewhere in the south east USA or Texas. Then you could stick around for more post T-day events. Just make sure that you don't plan on flying out the Monday after T-Day, that is second busiest travel day, only exceeded by the Wednesday for T-Day, which is always on Thursday. I am sure you would get loads of video of a month of posts. Love your videos.
It's the Saturday AFTER Thanksgiving that has all the rivalries, and screw the Southeast or Texas, go to the North where they play football in the fall elements, like in Michigan.
Thing to remember is national league teams represent most or all of entire states, most of which have several million citizens. You can buy tickets to games waaaaay ahead of time, so even the bigger stadiums tend to be packed full of mostly only the superest of super fans, and yes, they often drink excessively. Its a unique experience, fascinating to non-fanatics who dare venture inside, but it become concerning and even a bit embarrassing very quickly.
I certainly didn't expect this today. Chewie was funny looking at you during your hot pillow curse. I think I heard him say " What is she on about now?!"

However, Editor Dianes cheerful injections into the video show that an opportunity to display her prodigious skills to the unworthy masses. At the start of the video Chewie had that what's going on, we don't work today? Then he disappeared, and I assumed a lack of interest, but no he just felt that a video without his direct involvement was not truly official.
Happy Tuesday to you Diane! You look fabulous as always! I can appreciate that you're taking the time to understand and like American Football. Both American and European football are very fan absorbed sports, because of how passionate the fans can get emotionally over their participants. I watched a World Cup Soccer match between the United States versus Wales, which ended up in a tie. That was an amazing game! Thanks for sharing this video and your insights on it. Have a great rest of your week Diane. Be well and stay lovely. 👋😎✌️❤️🌹
It’s a lot calmer and more wholesome in a sense I would argue because there are A LOT of state, troopers and other law-enforcement walking around and don’t forget about the surveillance and stadium jail( they even have a judge)
It's partly because we've got little else to do in the winter and we're nice to everyone, and we also tend to get a bit on the happy side of drunk! The Bills Mafia is also one of the most philanthropic fan bases in sports, raising money and support for all sorts of causes and in thanks to (even opposing teams) player efforts. Check out some of the media coverage from last Saturday when fans were helping to dig out the team & support staff so they could get to Detroit, or in years past when a particularly bad play by an opponent kicked off a fundraising spree for THEIR preferred charity. #HeyEyEyEy #BillsMafia #BuffaLove

In our first World Cup match, we actually beat Wales. Very surprising, because, normally the US men's team SUCKS at soccer. It's our women's team that is normally competitive. Out of 8 Women's World Cups, the U.S. ladies have won 4.

They are actually broadcasting the Premiere League here in American in large cities and amusement parks. It’s really attracting a huge crowd, compared to American soccer.
Happy Tuesday Diane and Thanks to ED for the video! I don't know much about American Soccer, but I do know the Seattle Sounder fans are quite loud. As far as American Football goes, I think the Pros are definitely a more skilled game, but College Football has the better Atmosphere, very similar to the European Football atmosphere shown here. I did find out that my college football team unfortunately does not sell Turkey Legs or Fried Oreos. Will have to get them before the game.
There's much more passion involved in European football. It becomes part of the lifestyle and creates a whole community of its own. I recommend you to watch a video about a Turkish team (Fenerbahce) where supporters were banned from the game and was decided to fill the stadium with only female supporters and kids. Around 12000 fans were expected and tickets were printed accordingly. But 43000 fans (female + kids) ended up filling the stadium.
Not meant to be negative DJ, but to me the only way to truly compare the two would be to attend a game/match itself. Most sports are very different in person vs. on TV. Especially the energy level of the crowd. However I do understand not loving big crowds. And yes right on DJ that a lot of American professional sports (and other things) get marketed as “family friendly” events. Perhaps you could review a replay of the NFL games played in London or recently in Munich. That would be interesting to see how the crowds differ from US crowds. Either way just keep up the great work as those of us across the pond enjoy all of your videos DJ!
I'm not a big sports fan. But if I'm going to watch any sports, it would be American football, then world football (soccer), then basketball. Off topic, but I love how Chewie brings out your playful side. That's just adorable watching you with him. He's a cute dog. 😊
95% of female track/cross country runners in college: "We grew-up playing soccer." Soccer coaches in college: "Curses!!! You stole our good runners!" College runners: "We got tired of running up and down the field for no reason and sometimes getting tackled!" And that's how you get college cross country and track runners. TEDtalk complete. 👍
Wasn’t expecting a regular Tuesday clip. I don’t remember one on Tuesday before! In Vancouver our whitecaps MLS have fan club: south siders also in MLS we are beginning to referee to teams as football clubs so association football ( soccer came from association )
A friend told me Rugby is a game played by hooligans and watched by gentlemen...soccer/football is a game played by gentlemen and watched by hooligans. American soccer fans are really different from American football fans (maybe it's the weather due to the time of year the season is played) . The street thing is called the march in...team supporters march from their pub to the stadium (at least in Orlando)
When you see stuff like this and think that it all revolves around grown men chasing each other around on a big lawn for a ball....... Completely eludes me. Always has.

You're more likely to Euro-style fandom in American college football, or with some baseball teams like the Boston Red Sox. The whole "Sweet Caroline" thing started at Fenway Park in Boston.
Atlanta united fc has a huge group of die hard fans, especially when it is sold out. We have a huge, new stadium. It's where the Atlanta falcons (American football) also plays. It seats 71,000 but can expand to 75,000. I've been there for that for the all star game Atlanta was hosting. Awesome time
0:07 dont worry thats the power of engineering they are designed to do that, i would be worried when a stadium does NOT jump up and down when people on it do it, because that means its either hundreds of years old or about to break. Presumably both.
Idk why, but as german and hearing the whole crowd singin this reminds of a different timeline in human Evolution 😂 if you know what i mean. But its crazy here, soccer is very highly watched here

Seattle Fight & Win guy is a perfect example of this 😭😭😭
Now we have Europa.
"Is that Brazil?"
I said Europa.
It is Germany, Nordrhein-Westfalen, Dortmund.
That 'i think i would leave' made me chuckle xD try to get out there when shit hits the fan..it probably started already outside the stadium.
American soccer is... improving. Slowly, but it gets mostly our 4th-rate athletic talent. American football, basketball, and baseball get the bulk of the elite athletes.
And the best players on the soccer team usually become the field goal kicker on the football team.
you mean US soccer, most of America has been playing football for over a hundred years, you guys are just late to the party, but good to have you finally join the most popular sport on earth on a more competitive level.
Rare Tuesday drop . Love it ! I think the European fans have been doing it longer , so they have it down to a science. US will figure it out as soon as they win a World Cup . That’s a challenge !
good luck, The Netherlands has been undefeated for 17 matches now.
this aged well
They have, on the women's side.
OMG, ED, I'm so sorry. I have squandered shoutouts, without once thinking of you. You're at Diane's beck and call 24/7 for whatever she wants! Thank you for your excellent skills to make these videos so perfect 😊
Did it work? Is she tearing up yet???
She’s…. Seething 😤
Omg Kim WHAT HAVE YOU DONE?!?!?
@@DianeJennings oops🤷♀️
Family versus thuggery is a better comparison. We take our kids and grandparents to games. But at least you got the names right.
"What coutry is this? brazil?"
sums up americans
In USA you use speakers, in Europe we are the speakers
Remember in America that soccer or what you call football is really the fifth most popular sport behind American Football, Basketball, Baseball, and Hockey so you really don't see as much passion as with American Football.
I expect passions will ignite as the next world cup is due to occur stateside
I wouldn't be so sure of that Diane. We may look at the box scores and root on the red, white, and blue, but we really don't have a taste for the game. I've tried to watch USMNT matches and I just didn't find it that interesting.
Football is called soccer in a good a bit of ireland to distinguish it from gaelic football, but not in dublin so much
@@gallowglass2630 makes sense. Association is called soccer in most places that it's not the predominant football code.
I think we did beat Ice Hockey already. I mean some exerts say we even beat baseball, most predict we will beat Baseball by 2023 end. Baseball declines by 5.8% and Football goes up by 12.3%. Not much time for Baseball left
Going onto Europe. Diane be like, what country is that? Brazil?
Happy Tuesday! I really enjoy this video.
American sports: People pay to watch to a spectacle while drinking, eating and selfying
Calcio/Fursball/Futebol/Football: Fans do the spectacle
I certainly didn't expect this today. Chewie was funny looking at you during your hot pillow curse. I think I heard him say " What is she on about now?!"
So true!
"EUROPA" on the screen
"Where is it? Brazil?"
Me: 💀
A daily dose of Diane Jennings my mind is blown even before I viewed. Then I viewed. I bow down to the expertise of Editor Diane in being so diligent to produce high quality video with a daily time limit.
I so didn’t see him trying to get attention 😂
Well done keeping your composure ED throughout the video even though we all know you desperately wanted to join in on the cheers and jeers.
Chewie in the beginning: "Look at me. Look at me. LOOK AT ME! No one loves me"
Hahahaha!
Americans wouldn't even know the capital city of America
they're all f'ed up on drugs or more concern with the next whores in Atlanta episode
There’s a stadium in Japan that has a special flooring that converts fans jumping into electricity.
What a great idea. That should be done all over the world.
A Tuesday video, this is a super surprise. I bet E.D wasn’t happy at all
Not at all eek!
I always thought Buffalo Bills fans look like they have the most fun. Bills fans smash tables in the parking lot 😂
@@mikeh720 Y’all have some rough winters. You know it’s bad when they have to move your games to Detroit 😆. I’m not from Buffalo but have always been a Bills fan. Hopefully Josh Allen isn’t hurt too bad, I can see the Bills winning a few Super Bowls with him.
My first impression? Chewy is such a sweetheart!❤️❤️🐶🐶 "What in the heck is Mommy blathering about now?"
soccer(futbol) they like to dance and chant more where american football the audience likes to drink beer, eat some food, watch the game, and cheer on touchdowns/incetercepts. I like Chewies blanket on the couch he looks happy in the background. Tuesday video made my day awesome. A great thanksgiving gift thanks Diane.
🥰
@@DianeJennings🥰 You bring me so much joy with your gifts and are very appreciated. Happy Thanksgiving week.
Goes to Europe
"Which country is this? Brazil?"
In our first World Cup match, we actually beat Wales. Very surprising, because, normally the US men's team SUCKS at soccer. It's our women's team that is normally competitive. Out of 8 Women's World Cups, the U.S. ladies have won 4.
No you have draw not win
Soccer is the number one women's sport in the U.S.
The men playing soccer in high school/ college, well, were unfortunately usually bullied a bit.
Well, beating Wales is not saying much in terms of international football
Very enjoyable! It’s always fun to watch large numbers of people in a state of joy!
Tomorrow’s the day! Wish me luck!
Sending all the luck of the Irish Peter!
WooHoo! Football! Thanksgiving Thursday is full of Football, starting with the Detroit Lions game, which has been the holiday tradition since 1934!😁☘Slàinte Mhath
So excited for that one, hope my Buffalo Bills win
I'm excited to watch this one! :) (xD I thought it was going to be American NFL football vs European soccer fans) Kind of disappointed that it isn't.
Hope you like it!
I'm from Seattle!! hahahaha, that dude doing the cheer isn't famous but he's cool for sure. :P We're not a huge soccer nation. We definitely enjoy American football (NFL) though! The chants at those NFL games rival these but I'm not sure how the ultimately compare as I haven't ever been to Europe to experience a game for myself.
@@DianeJennings lol, I did a bit but I'd of preferred American football. Only because I'm more familiar with the sport and how everything works and all that. If I knew football like I know mine, it'd be another story!
It's awesome what our fandom has become... Soccer has only gained popularity over the last couple of decades... It's growing and getting more intense every year, and it's so amazing to see! Cant wait to cohost the WC in '26!
2 million visitors will come to your great Country and I hope the Authorities are pre[ared for Turkish, Greek, Serbian, German, Rumanian and English fans.

4:25 is Borussia Dormund visiting Club Bruges in Belgium.
Well, that was mostly European football. I think the crowds on both sides are pretty crazy. Tell ED to get plenty of rest cause she’s gonna have a busy week. ❤️U☘️🇮🇪🇺🇸
And also South America
First European Team is Borussia Dortmund from Germany but its in the streets of Spain(i believe)
after that is 1.FC Köln (Cologne in english) also from Germany. After that it is Eintracht Frankfurt (Germany too)
That wasn't quite what I was expecting. Glad for the surprise video though! 😁 I used to really get into cheering with the crowd, and on the field I was pretty loud. Lately though, when I do go to a game (usually baseball) I just watch the game. Lol.
I'll buy ED some coffee (and a little adult liquid to put in it) if she does a video a day this week! 😁
Glad you enjoyed it!

5:30 the stadiums are build that way so it's easier to absorb the shock of the fans jumping. that's save.
They are actually broadcasting the Premiere League here in American in large cities and amusement parks. It’s really attracting a huge crowd, compared to American soccer.
Interesting. You guys are die to host the next world cup I believe

This girl has no business doing sports reactions😂😂😂
Hi algorithm. Sorry I missed this video but this whole month is just chaos, so I’m watching everything really late.
Me too-post them over!
NOT SOCCER JUST FOOTBALL !
6:30 its an italian team called AC Milan singing a remix of a famous Italian classic song
In Vancouver our whitecaps MLS have fan club: south siders also in MLS we are beginning to referee to
teams as football clubs so association football ( soccer came from association )
You’ve got it twisted. The saying goes, “Football is a gentleman’s game played by hooligans, and rugby is a hooligan’s game played by gentlemen.”
When you see stuff like this and think that it all revolves around grown men chasing each other around on a big lawn for a ball....... Completely eludes me. Always has.
What about grown men chasing each other around an ice rink for a hard rubber disc?

You're more likely to Euro-style fandom in American college football, or with some baseball teams like the Boston Red Sox. The whole "Sweet Caroline" thing started at Fenway Park in Boston.
Atlanta united fc has a huge group of die hard fans, especially when it is sold out. We have a huge, new stadium. It's where the Atlanta falcons (American football) also plays. It seats 71,000 but can expand to 75,000. I've been there for that for the all star game Atlanta was hosting. Awesome time
so u guys have flares and banners and everything?
Lol that's nothing, in South América you can see what actual "passion" for football looks like 😂🤣👍
Europe.. is that Brazil? Just how
The trouble with large flags it blocks the people behind you from seeing.
Football is called something you play with your feet , American "football" is played with the hands 😂😂

dont worry thats the power of engineering
they are designed to do that, i would be worried when a stadium does NOT jump up and down when people on it do it, because that means its either hundreds of years old or about to break.
Presumably both.
I triple dog dare Editor Diane to put out a video everyday this week!
Idk why, but as german and hearing the whole crowd singin this reminds of a different timeline in human Evolution 😂 if you know what i mean. But its crazy here, soccer is very highly watched here
