Hi there! I’m Astrid and I’m the director of WHO GOES THERE?. It was such a bloody joy working with this incredible team to bring our little Horror Western demon to life. Thank you so much for watching the film! And beware of creepy whistling in the night…
So cute
Gear?
You did an amazing job! Loved it! ❤
The atmosphere was on point. Couldn't blink.
Very creepy & effective! 👏🏾👏🏾
As soon as Liv spoke English, my stomach flipped. 😭
🙊
The sound scape was awesome. The wind, creaking wood, the whistle, all of it haunting. This project was GREAT!
My God! A combination of a folk/ western/horror short film in 1880? And religion is on the play? This was already a done deal but, i did not expect to keep my hand on My chest the entire film! Felt straight like a 2 hour film, i am beyond amazed by how much thought was put into each part of it. BRAVO! 🎉🎉🎉💯💯💯💯
She invited evil in. That was my first thought as he stood at the threshold and looked down. Did he smirk? Evil wanders and takes souls. You can't trust anyone anymore. Nice, straightforward story. That's how I love horror.
Edit:Oh yes and we learned: Demons (or the devil) speak English...
What happened to the sister that speaks Dutch?
He smirked when the girl talked of the devil in Norwegian. He understood that, obviously.
But yeah, the new narrative that oooh English Bad is the current thing so of course everyone supports it. Lucky it's my second language, yeah?
@@rustynomad7She spoke English. The Devil’s language. And she was Norwegian.
@@rustynomad7 Norwegian!
Well english is the easiest language to manipulate the tones 😑🙏
That was absolutely amazing- Alter quality at its finest. The acting was award worthy and the camera work just added to the intensity. I loved the little clue you gave us about the demon when he asked what language the women were speaking, but smiled when one of them answered back in Norwegian that English was the Devil’s language. Of course he understood what she was saying as Demons speak ALL LANGUAGES!!!!! This is one I’ll remember and pass on. Thank you!!
Thank you so much for your kind words! And here's to well-read demons, haha.
They should've known who he was when he smirked. He indicated that he knew what she said... damn.. you're right.
another body snatcher based on campbell jr who goes there
@@kingkinardfitness6053 but at the end she seems still dont understand when her sister talks in english not in norwegian,,
Demons don’t know all languages - I can only speak half a dozen!
their acting was marvellous....
As soon as her sister started speaking English I knew right away it wasn't her anymore. I loved it.
Old West/Frontier Horror is so good! Really well done.
did you see the movie dead birds 2004?
Man, this one was good. Even at that point, her sister started speaking English, I didn't realize until she said something at the end.
You just opend the subtitles for understanding
that was awesome. loved the shot of the red sky as he's standing in the doorway.
It is rare to find such quality in a short film. You're lucky to find one in 15, maybe 20 that are professional quality.
A big salute to Astrid and all those responsible for this production. It is Impressive in every sense, damn near flawless. A clinic on how to make cinema quality horror without a big production budget.
Most importantly, the actors were extremely talented. They all possessed the ability to make you a believer... Without talented actors, it doesn't matter how much you spend, how well written the script is or how well you execute all other aspects of film making. The acting talent on display here was a treat. Everything else was an added bonus: Story / Script
Directing
Cinematography
Sound / lighting, etc-
All top notch. Everyone did their part, every aspect complimented the fantastic performances the actors put on.
Thank you for the rare short film that leaves one thoroughly entertained and satisfied. I hope the artists responsible for this work get the recognition and careers they deserve.
This was absolutely better than anything that has been out of by Hollywood.....I could watch this 100 more times!!!!!
The Devil will always seek us out when we are the most vulnerable, as in our faith. Liv meant well, but doubted in her grief. Through the wilderness came the Outcast in his weakened and haunted state from traveling. As Ada was stricken with a physical disease that left an opening for the darkness to enter, Ingrid made a difficult choice clouded by despair without Liv's discernment. Ingrid's fate is tragic, and her strength alone was not enough. She will now have her day of reckoning as her faith is tested further. Hauntingly authentic and superior in its creation, this is an amazing tale of the trials of life and how we choose to cope. Bravo!! 🌹❤️
The vulnerability of women in that time is a horror in itself. Dare I ask what happened to their father, husbands and brothers. They're all definitely of marrying/ child bearing age. Something horrid happened long before this disaster.
The idea of a devil is so humans can avoid looking at themselves and taking accountability for their own actions and decisions. That is all. However, it is a thoughtful fantasy story for entertainment purposes and that's always fun.
@@lisathesupergremlin7731 I surmise that the graves were that of their parents as the sister is also stricken. The one sister is afraid of contagion, so..disease and judging from the sister's pustules on her face it was likely Smallpox. Brothers? Not every man sires sons. Also, it was customary for women to remain with their parents until they married or died (unless they took up a position), and having immigrated to north america and took land out in the middle of nowhere, there were no extra men laying about to be picked. Also, many women back then decided not to marry because they wanted to live longer lives. There was a high rate of mortality in childbirth so they would become teachers or nurses etc, take up domestic service if they did not have the ability for a higher education, and live long, contented lives.
@hilaryc3203 Excellent summation of the emotions and tragedies of mankind; how they're intertwined. Yes. We are all too used to the blame game. Taking accountability would lead us to our spirtual growth and harmony that we are meant to live in. However, to not recognize there exists a realm that is unseen, holding even darker beings who value our lives so much that they interfere to be us or intervene to help us, is folly. There is darkness within and without.
@@highstrangeness1824 Energy exists in all life; religious people don't like to hear about it, but the energy levels can be seen with advanced technology and there is the possibility that energy will continue. Energy. Not a god, not jesus, but energy as identified by science. However, there is no realm of darker beings. There is no proof, and no logic to that belief which comes from the imagination of silly humans.
I was totally in the zone watching this. My house was busy, and I didn't notice a thing going on around me. I was truly captivated. Bravo 👏
And again I say: We need more horror western movies in general!
Ingrid's smile at the end before speaking english...."you are not looking well, sister...."
This really was great. Well-paced, convincing acting and genuinely creepy. Hollywood take note.
Fantastic short film…quality that puts to shame the best Hollywood has to offer. Well done to the entire crew👏!
It's simply amazing and this movie didn't let me move, i was really excited, thanks to entire team for this movie
I'm so chuffed you enjoyed the film! Thank you for watching.
Hello, can I translate the subtitles of this short film from English to Turkish voluntarily? It's not a dialogue heavy film and easy to translate.@@astridthorvaldsen1538
@@astridthorvaldsen1538 look like big studio movie 😮
This was stellar from start to finish! Way to go to all who were involved in making this short gem! Bravo👏👏👏🎬
Love it! I will give it an A. The movie was beautifully shot and the concept was original. I also appreciate that there was closed captioning.
That was devilish in all the right ways. Utterly convincing suspense right to the end. Masterpiece! and thankyou.
What a beautiful, compelling piece of art! This was top notch from beginning to end!
That was very satisfyingly disturbing, thank you! Kudos to all involved.
This was exhilarating and absolutely terrifying. This was so amazingly well done and subtle at the same time. As a multiple language speaker, my nightmares are often in the second language and it is such a strange thing and this movie reminds me of that.
I caught it immediately when she started speaking English! Felt bad for Ada though
The red sky when he was in the doorway was beautiful.
This was outstanding! I love the lighting, the acting, the cinematography, the sound effects--all professional. I did notice, though, that the sister who spoke no English understood everything the stranger spoke in English.
She does she doesn’t want to speak the devils language
@taniyahmoody6140 ooh, right. The sister did mention that, I believe. I slept on that. And she spoke the devil's tongue in the end as she walked away. Dang...this is definitely big screen worthy. I love it!!!
I rarely comment but I had to say that this was amazing! I want to see a full length movie of this!!! It reminds me a lot of the movie The Wind.
WOW!!! What a rollercoaster!!! One of the best short clips I've seen in a longtime from ALTER!
Excellent filmmaking. So much better than many feature films out there.
This should be a movie. It reminds me of The Wind, which is an amazing horror movie made in 2018. I hope you produce more! Everyone and everything was perfect!
People saying it should be a feature film are missing the whole point of it being a short.
Camera Work is Amazing those sunsets and night scenes just awesomely filmed…. Appreciate
When he looked at the threshold, my money was on Vampire tho
I dont get why it wouldn't take over all three (or is it Seven inspired and can move when the host is killed?), but very well done. Cast was amazing particularly the lead. Beautiful setting as well. So desolate.
This was brilliant. So well written, filmed & acted. I love watching films that have no overhyped/overpaid celebrities. Great film. Thank you. 🙂♥️
Great video and wonderful acting. Better than most Hollywood movies! You and your crew deserve great praise!
This short was absolutely amazing! From start to finish. Keep it up, Alter! :)
This should have been a whole movie, Bravo
This is a truly exceptional shortmovie... "The Thing Goes West". I wished, there was a 90 minute version of this...
Absolutely brilliant in every way, acting/directing/cinematography/editing......it's all there!......Bravo!!
Very atmospheric! Beautiful convincing actors and the feeling of fearful tension. Great! 🎬
This is one of the best horror short films I've ever seen...! Congrats! Maximum horror with little effort - you really made a great job! ...and the sounds/music intenses the creepy horror on a even higher level...well done, folks! 🤩
I am loving ALTER! Fine movies, great actors! In this one the evil was in the doctor... then in ada and for last in ingrid... took me a while to understand but after reading the coments I took it!
Very good!! Cheers from Brazil 🇧🇷
Thank you for letting me see this again. This was the best film I've ever seen at the festival.
This film was amazing 🤩 from start to finish ! The camera work & the actors were very exceptional! Too bad it was a "short"! I enjoyed it very much❣️ Aloha from Hawaii 🌺🤙🌴🌈
Perfect ending to a great short! I loved everything about this and I'm hard to please when it comes to horror.
Thanks. Honestly one of the best short films I’ve seen in a long while. Best of luck in you future endeavors.
Man, this one was GOOD!! Wonderful quality, I loved it! Can't wait to watch more!
Well done and very twisted ! Such films should be prolonged surely !
It ' s all about atmosphere , good story telling , the setting , etc.
Far more better than many Hollywood so-call horror movies !!!!
This is a gem. A real gem.
Loved it! Atmospheric and slow building sense of dread.
I just love these types of Alter films. Awesome
Literally the best short film I have watched on TH-cam !
So good - a great take on a classic trope! And not a crawling head in sight.
GREAT piece of art!
Amazing!
I love every bit of it❤
Awesome. Loved the cinematography, especially.
*WE NEED A FULL FEATURE FILM PLEASE!!!*
This was amazing! Best one I’ve watched in a long time. I’d love to see more about these sisters.
Awesome... who needs big blockbuster companies, Alter produces so much better work these days.
Yes cutie 😂
Great film ... creepy and tense from start to finish.
Excellent short!!! Best I’ve I’ve seen in a long time ❤
this was great. felt like i was fully absorbed into the setting. brilliant
Wow, this was amazing! Well done!
This was amazing to watch, I loved it so much!
Well done! I like frontier themed out on the middle of nowhere horror!
My word what a short. They dhould take this and make it into a full length film. The first horror short where it was fantastic on all fronts from start to finish. Acting skills incredible. I do not watch them anymore as the acting is so bad but this came up and i was gripped. Saw one last night that was amazing too wonder if you made that a girl coming home to her parents and she was responsible for her sister dying whilst she was driving, dealing with guilt. Encouraging to know there are excellent ones. Please make more 👏👏👏👏
I loved the story and lesson. but comment section and discussions are also very interesting.i loved to read comments. Thankyou guys fir explaining❤
Alter's content ia extremely underated... I feel the acting and direction and story is better than some big screen movies as well ..
had to use the comments to remind myself that this is a FILM 😭😭😭 such a good job 👍🏻
21:10 That puking was givin' it away that it changed body again.
You know, devil never gets sick... Also from his reacion to 11:50 "devil's tongue" and the look he gave to her at 12:40 You can see he had eyes on her from the beginning.
Really good. The loneliness, the desperation. Creepy....and sad.
This was so excellent! This would be a wall of text if I tried to break down everything great about it, so I'll just sum it by saying this is a perfect example of what gets me excited about film! Chef's kiss*
Fantastic short. Should be made into feature film
Excellent. The acting is superior. Absolutely loved it!*****
Simply awesome... Just the right amount of thrill, horror, mystery and pathos👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻
Bravo,suspence and tension filled x
Excellent on every level. I’m impressed.
Tudo nesse filme é perfeito: atores, fotografia, montagem, uma trama misteriosa e arrepiante... Ótimo trabalho, parabéns!
Wow that was fantastic! From the directing, to the dialogue and acting! Better than all the Hollyweird rubbish that’s out there! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
That was pretty amazing! Kudos to the team 👍💜
Well done -- bravo!
Fantastic! Well done!!!!
This was brilliant captivating
soon as the dark gets grainy and you know they couldn't afford good cameras you know its about to get lit
That was excellent hats off bloody enjoyed that👍❤️
Excellent acting. 👍
Best one they've done in a while
Really enjoyed this.
I'm always looking for folklore types of shorts/ movies this was excellent acting visuals scenery 👏
Wow wow!!! That was SOO good! I’m surprised she didn’t catch her sister speaking English immediately! Soon as she did I was like ummm….well that’s not good 😂 what a great short film!!! Well written, well directed and produced and very well acted!!! Bravo!
