Love when people outside Brazil try this perfect cocktail. I've been making caipirinhas for more than 10 years, and even knowing several different cocktails I always end up in a caipirinha.
    A couple things:
I don't know why every cocktail channel stir caipirinhas, this is definitely not how Brazilians do the traditional (all capirinhas here are usually shaken with a lot of ice, and them you dump everything on the cup). The mix of small shards and bigger cubes help the dilution happen while maintaining the cocktail cold.
Demerara sugar really works perfectly with caipirinha, it's no the usual but enhances the flavor of the cachaça.
The mimic is great, but what you can do to make even more Brazilian while mimicking a bramble: try to use açai liquor instead of creme de cassis (probably hard to find but it worth)
We have several popular riffs of the caipirinha: Caipiroska (with vodka), Sakerinha (with Sake), Caipirissima (rum), Wine caipirinha. Usually each one uses different fruits in addition to lime juice (mainly orange, pineapple and strawberry. Also a couple local berries from Brazil, like Pitanga and Acerola)

The Mimic is just perfect. As a proper Brazilian, I had everything else at home. Just went for a quick buy for the Creme de Cassis. AMAZING, my friend.
    Cheers from Brazil.

Shoutout for using Warrenghem's crème de cassis, that's my local distillery and they really make a f***ing great job at everything they do, i must enhance it.

So the general idea here is:
Drop the sugar to 2tsp (10ml)
Drop the Cachaça by 1/2 oz
Add 1/2 oz of liqueur of choice, which brings the volume back up and because of the added sugar content means the drink is still balanced.
I really like both the ideas Jean-Félix has in here. I am however going to play a bit . Other liqueurs I have I'm interested in trying: Hibiscus, Strawberry (mostly to give me an excuse to add a dash of absinthe), Creme de Yvette (it's like a mix of violette, cassis, & mure), maybe even Chambord.
Since my wife and I went through 3 bottles of Cachaça last summer I'm sure I'll have fun with both of these recipes and trying more.

I'll definitely have to try the caipirinha variations -- especially the one with creme de cassis, because, if it's anything like a Bramble, it should be terrific.

First, jealous of your weather! LOL! My part of the US hasn't had that much nice weather yet. I've been on the hunt for Cachaca but now I have to search a little harder, the fruity one sounds the best to me. Cheers!

Creativity aside, it's worth noting that "caipirinha" consists of cachaça, sugar, lemon, and ice. And that's it. It's even a law in Brazil.

    • @Nickle314
      @Nickle314 ปีที่แล้ว

@@TrufflesOnTheRocks There's a new one for me. Groseilles. Cassis for alcohol is a much better choice.
In the UK we make red currant jelly. Main uses. To accompany roast lamb, and the other is for cumberland sauce. One of those receipes we keep hidden from the rest of the world. The other use, another secret. You know us as les rosbifs. But British puddings we keep to ourselves. Check out summer pudding.
