She was naturally gifted with an amazing eye. She took almost perfect photos and knew nothing about rule of thirds, leading lines, grids, mergers, or symmetry. Bit her photos had all of that. She was a gift and gifted. Queen of Street Photography.
I just feel that joy looking at her work... with the kind of equipment she had to make due compered to what we have now... really proofs that it isn't the camera that makes great images but the photographer
Excellent video, love Vivian Maier’s work. Photography in its purest form, never did it for the likes or money & I guess she never expected for any of it to ever see the light of day. 10/10 & a new subscriber
I very much enjoyed this, such a thoughtful introduction for anyone new to her work. I had such a profound reaction to seeing her work early on, that within a couple of hours I had got on a train and gone into London to a gallery that held some of her images, three of which I now own. Like many people I find her story fascinating, but as you very rightly say, we mustn’t become distracted from just how brilliant her work was. Looking at her contact sheets, tells you how extraordinary her eye was. The documentary is great, of course, but if you haven’t already seen it there was an excellent BBC documentary which sheds further light and was part of the Imagine series.
Thank you so much Fiona! I’ve got a great respect for Vivian’s work so I’m so glad you enjoyed this. I’ve yet to actually see an exhibition of her work but I hope to one day do so, and I definitely didn’t know about the BBC documentary thank you for sharing!
This was really a great video on Vivian Maier, one of the best photographers of all time, good job! 👍 Your excellent presentation along with your interesting reflections on her enormous photographic legacy are top-notch. Well done 👍!
Absolutely love her work, i have thought a lot about the argument of her privacy, then i look at her pictures and the amount of self portraits is staggering, which indicates too me she wanted her pictures to be indentified with her, to say i took these.
Right? I think deep down she was perhaps at some point preparing to do an exhibit, the documentary hints at that a little bit. But it's sad to know she passed not knowing her impact on the photography world.
Glad to hear it! Thanks so much for the kind words, Hannes! Going to try to make this a monthly series. There are so many incredible photographers to cover, but I had to start with Vivian.
I've had this documentary saved since 2015 and never watched it until now. I am embarrassed to say, I finally watched it this past Friday. What a beautiful photographer she was! Even though Vivian Maier is not with us, she remains one of the best photographers ever.
Really enjoyed this. I had to subscribe just on this video alone. Do you mind sharing your playlist as well, specifically the song "Moving On"? Please and thank you for your work.
One of my favourite photographers only really found out about her work recently but there is something special about it if I can have 10% of her talent I be happy
In today world much of her work would have been illegal and perhaps still is in terms of privacy laws. This reflects negatively on our ability to record reality for posterity.
I am 9 years too late.😂 but you soun petty. 9 years sice this video, you sat there and judged her work and insinuating that it was mid. How is your work? What have u acheived?
Love this, seen a lot of videos on Vivian but not one like this!
Thank you Anthony! She is one of my favourites so I tried to do her work justice!
She's as raw as they get praise God her work has come out
Pretty much the GOAT right there ain't she?
Thank you so much for such a sensitive, sensible and intelligent portrait of a unique artist.
She was naturally gifted with an amazing eye. She took almost perfect photos and knew nothing about rule of thirds, leading lines, grids, mergers, or symmetry. Bit her photos had all of that. She was a gift and gifted. Queen of Street Photography.
This is a brilliant display of her work, and your take on everything is wonderful.
Thank you Nicholas! Vivian is so inspiring to me so thank you for the kind words 🙏
Incredible photos taken on the spot of life.. very nice tribute to her & her work
Very much agreed man. Thanks for that! Have you watched the movie about her? If not I would recommend very much.

I'd like to express my appreciation for the sincere way in which you speak of Vivian Maier. Excellent job!
That is so kind, thank you very much!
Vivian Maier was a photographic genius.
Yes she was! Perhaps still my favourite.
Thank you for making this film. Your presentation is excellent.
Vivian is just amazing, adorable actually.
Thank you so much, these are perhaps my favourite videos to make so I'm glad to hear that!
Such wonderful work.
She took photos, it seems, for herself. As it should be, unless you have a job that requires it.
As it should be indeed!
Incredible video ! Very nice tribute to her ! I was moved… thanks 🙏🏽
Thank you so much 🙏 she is a very important photographer to me, so I am so glad you enjoyed it.

She was an absolute master.
Still probably my favourite photographer!
Absolutely love her work, i have thought a lot about the argument of her privacy, then i look at her pictures and the amount of self portraits is staggering, which indicates too me she wanted her pictures to be indentified with her, to say i took these.

9:02 mark. Framing of the shadow. The text. The angel in the shadow. Could not get any better.
She's a legend!
Beautiful ,especially the song ❤
Thank you!
Beautiful!
Thank you! Cheers!
Beautiful 🫶🏻

I think you’d love the documentary of her. It goes into deeper meaning of her perspective of the world.
I have seen ‘Finding Vivian Maier’ but I think there’s another one right?
Really enjoyed this. I had to subscribe just on this video alone. Do you mind sharing your playlist as well, specifically the song "Moving On"? Please and thank you for your work.
Thanks for the sub! Appreciate that a lot! No problem - this song is called 'On and On' by Lars Eriksson.
Brendon, I Really appreciate your video. It's impressive and I really thank you for your sensitive . Rosaria
Thank you Rosaria! I'm so glad you enjoyed it. Vivian is one of my favourite photographers so this meant a great deal to me.
Having all the modern gadgets, super fast lenses, and AI-enabled Autofocus many of us still can't match her. It's not the camera.
ビビアン・マイヤー、好きです。
ローライフレックス、中判は綺麗に撮れますね。
Thank you! She was truly a Master!
Love her work, great video
It's so incredible and so inspiring. Thanks for the kind words Frank! 🙏
Incredible video!
Thank you Jacky 🙏 Vivian is a big inspiration to me.
Nicely presented.
Thanks a lot!
One of my favourite photographers only really found out about her work recently but there is something special about it if I can have 10% of her talent I be happy
Couldn't agree more with you Jonny. She's perhaps my favourite film photographer of all time and I'm glad you discovered her work!
a true master
Watching this made me realise how shit i am as a photographer 😂😂😂
Even me when I was making this video fam. I was like I’m nothing compared to this woman 😂 she was incredible.
Reallly enjoyed this!
So glad Adam, these are my favourite videos to make!
In today world much of her work would have been illegal and perhaps still is in terms of privacy laws. This reflects negatively on our ability to record reality for posterity.
beautifully done 👌🏼
Thank you so much!
Excellent
Thank you John! Glad you enjoyed 🙏
excellent video, very well put together, subscribed!
Thank you so much Nacho Nacho!
Thanks for finding her for myself :)
No problem 😊
There a story in every photographer as even past the main subject.
Thank you!
You're welcome!
Love
Thank
The narrator stated: “brilliant for her time.“ How about brilliant for any time. Why did you limit the impact of Vivian Maier?
Don’t you have anything better to do on Christmas than be a nonce on the internet? 😂
Life is short. Enter Islam and success
Um... cool!
I am 9 years too late.😂 but you soun petty. 9 years sice this video, you sat there and judged her work and insinuating that it was mid. How is your work? What have u acheived?
Think you got the wrong video Ferguson...
I saw great photos, not a tortured woman crusading to expose the imaginary wickedness of men.
Me too.
This video creator added his politically correct/woke nonsense to his analysis. Gratutious. Not helpful.
Absolute nonsense was my primary objective, but I’ll settle for just nonsense for now.
I agree. I doubt Vivian saw life through a political lens. The narrator sounds demoralized and submissive to present trends.
@@marcdeckard7064 so demoralised. So submissive. Thanks 🙏
