    I bought the same car brand new in 2001. Mines only got 66,000 Km on it and even after all of these years I find it still fun to drive. The 2000 and 2001 were the best 2 years ever made because the ECU in these years had VVTLi Lift engage at 6000 RPM and the rev limiter was set much higher then in later years. Since you have over 200,000 Km on yours you should test the the lift is still working. Take it for a spin and put the pedal to the metal and when it hits 6000 RPM you should feel a sudden burst on neck breaking power. If you don't then you probably have broken lift bolts in your 2zz engine. I would also recommend you change the timing chain in your 2zz at those Km' s.

    That's a really nice car you got there, who cares if its automatic, haters gonna hate.

    • @trekguy31
      @trekguy31 6 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      Yeah like it really matters if its automatic when all you do is drive it to work or the store. Its NOT a race car and to me a manual transmission is for the driving purists who also want a super fast performance car -that's not this car. This has the look, sure, but its affordable and that's just another thing I like about it.

      No not haters. A person like you who dont or never owned a cell auto wont understand, the auto on this car is the worst thing. Its like 2 sec slower then its 5 or 6spd brother, js, dont talk if you dont know what you speak of.

    • @H_Hold
      @H_Hold 4 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      I prefer an automatic because its just more fun in my opinion, I can drive manual but i dont generally want to mess with the shift. Racing isnt something i care about although modifying it like a street car is something i do like. No hate to autos or manuals, they both have their place for the people who enjoy them

    Now I can finally see how the M-Mode is supposed to work. I just recently bought a used 2000 GT-S, though the only difference is the automatic shifter gate does not have the indent to the left of the stick. Also feels like the stick does not shift over to the left, and I'm not entirely sure why.
    If anyone knows how to fix this, or what may be wrong, please respond.

    Generally, I'm a GM person, most likely I'm a Chevy person, but I think buying a 2001 Toyota Celica is ok. Also, driving the 2001 Toyota Celica is like driving a Japanese Ford Mustang.

      It’s quite accurate because the Celica was inspired by the Mustang, true story. They wanted a Japanese Mustang when American cars weren’t affordable for Japanese folks back in the 70s when Japan was still developing as a country, hence the smaller Mustang as a Celica. A piece of history. 🎩

    From my understanding, the GT trims from 2000 to 2002 could potentially burn oil, but the GTS trim didn't have that issue? Or am I wrong?
