I sell around 10 items a week on Etsy, I am in Canada and sell items typically in the $30 to $300 range. The fees are not 10%, more like 15% to 18% when you add them all up and the worst part is when an item sells from an off site ad and then the fees can by 30-40% ! Recently sold a $59 item and with off site fees, they took $28 in fees. I wish the fees were only 10% !
and now they give you the option of taking offers...hard to give a buyer a better deal no knowing if u will be dinged another 12 percent...the suits at Etsy just don't get it
Thank you! Love these tip videos.
Very helpful. Look forward to more
Glad it was helpful!
I just want to say thank you for inspiring me to list. I've procrastinated but love to thrift and source. I honestly think it was a Godwink that I found your channel. Why not do what I have a passion for? I currently have some extra time and tend to buy some of the same types of items you do but you've also taught me a lot about hot sellers, top dollar you would pay for an item and I like the clean look of your photos. Thank you for sharing about not offering free shipping to international buyers because I was looking for advice on this and wondering how you could make it financially if you did this. You answered my question on that and I thought this was a wonderful video. I really have had fun watching you the last week and look forward to getting more tips. I've probably annoyed my hubby with my newfound energy and excitement. I appreciate you and love your humor, preparedness and style! Really love your wall of brightly colored art! Thanks again!
Great tips!!! Very helpful!!! Listening and learning!!! U are one smart cookie!!! (cookie in a respectful manner).💞💞🙃💞💞
Aww you're so sweet! ;)
Thanks Andi for another great video! My Etsy shop has just gone live and I'm really excited about trying different marketing tactics but agree, the least you can do is to shout about your business over the social rooftops 😅 looking forward to some more marketing tips from you 💛
Congrats on your Etsy shop! :)
Very helpful thank you!
I'm so glad!
Very interesting.
I don't offer free shipping on Etsy, and I do very well. I don't think the free shipping is a must anymore in my opinion. I also find it infuriating that none of the commercials feature vintage at all. Why? Half the site is vintage!. Etsy needs to advertise this, why are they not doing this?
Nice to know that you do well without having to commit to free shipping! And I agree, Etsy has always dropped the ball with vintage. It's so maddening!
I don't do free shipping either. I do ok and I know I'd do MUCH better if I actually listed my items! 😂
WOW, this video is informative with great notes AND it looks like you are inside my laptop, the image is so crisp and clear! Thanks for all the information. What kind of camera are you using?!
Glad it was helpful! I’m filming on a Sony ZV-1. It’s very plug and play.
Etsy infuriates me with the cheap Chinese and Indian goods! I am very careful when buying but yes, it is very difficult to search for true hand-made or antique or vintage items without the garbage too. This was very helpful! ❤
Ugh, I know it's so frustrating how they let these items just continue to dilute the site. :(
Thank you for all of the wonderful advice. Great tips. Can't wait for your next energy-filled video!
You’re welcome!
Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us I know that it helps a lot of resellers. Have a wonderful blessed Friday and weekend.
Thank you! You too!
Love your channel - Maybe I missed it but I think you may have forgotten to mention the surprise 12% charge Etsy levels if your vintage item is sold via onsite ads. This infuriating rule can make a dent in the profit of a vintage sale, especially if you have turned "make an offer" on and accepted less. I do well-selling vintage on Etsy -- so I play the averages - if only 5% of my sales get this additional charge then it really isn't that much overall -- however when you look at an item that gets charged this fee then the bite they take is over 18% and that does not include the processing fee which is about 3% - and don't forget that if the item has been on a while you are paying 20 cent relisting fee every 4 months -- if you have 500 items on - that can add up...
You can turn off the marketing ads if you make under, I believe its, $20,000 a year. So I guess it's a decision between more sales because of ads or not letting them advertise for you because of the 12%.
Good Morning. Love this video. Can you please tell me the free program to help with title key words Through AI. I tryed to rewind it a few times to see what you were saying but couldnt figure it out... Very inspiring video. Love the content. Love how fast you move through. Learn alot quickly and on point. Awesome.
Thank you!! It’s called ChatGPT. chat.openai.com/
Great video as always. I have been selling on EBay for 10 years and their fees are getting absurd. I pay a monthly store fee in addition to 20% on jewelry sales. Making a profit is becoming impossible. I am considering Etsy either in addition to or in place of eBay but need to do more research so this video was very helpful. Does Etsy collect & pay state taxes for you the way eBay does?
Sorry for the delayed reply! Yes, Etsy handles all the tax stuff.
There are whispers about Etsy moving to paid shop levels too, so don’t count on Etsy staying the way it is when you decide to
Had 27,000 sales on Etsy and the free shipping killed my business. It was a slow death lol. I was selling handmade so it was bad all around for everyone. That and inflation. I started reselling vintage on eBay and prefer them because of this alone. Even with the higher fees.
What did you make?
They ripped me off with hackers in their system. I am out my FEbruary rent!!!!!! Please advise people this is the shoddy business they allow I had to report to police the hackers were taunting me the whole terrible bit!!!! I have skin cancer and this was all kinds of wrong morally and everything else.
Yep, kind of important to understand their comment.
@@agomodern no, because the point of my comment is that I feel that free shipping affect every area, not just vintage. Handmade bath products.
@@sacredrebelandhersalamande8386 Have to take into account time, materials, etc, etc. You do free shipping obviously you have to add that fee into your total price. I understand because it also has to do with the psychology of including shipping and not including shipping. I much prefer looking at a price and knowing the total without having to do the math myself.
This was so informative for me. I am trying to decide on opening an EBay or Etsy account. I sell a variety of items vintage, clothes hand made crafts, so I’m wondering if it depends on what I sell?
Have you done a shipping video?
Yes, I just released a shipping video last month!
Is there a fee to list regardless of whether or not the item sells on etsy?
Yes, a 20 cent fee for every listing that will be renewed every 4 months.
I thought we couldnt put links on IG.
You can in your bio and in stories. Just not in captions.
👌🙏
As a seller of Etsy for many years, their fees can now be as much as 35% , nickle and dime you to death
PLEASE. PLEASE do the videos! And then the vintage show videos….
Will do! ❤️❤️❤️
This is a hashtag Ad?
I wish I was getting a kick back from this! Lol
