I think some of y’all need to understand what Derrick Rose meant to the city of Chicago. He was a story of hope and hard work. A story of resilience and never giving up. Chicago and A TON of people saw themselves in Derrick. Where he grew up from to get where he got. To constantly come back over and over after all the injuries. A lot of people would’ve hung it up. A lot more people would’ve been very bitter and sour about what happened to them. Not Derrick. His character after all of it inspired even more because he just kept going. He was more than just a basketball player and that’s the point he’s trying to get across. To be remembered not as just a basketball player but as an amazing man. That’s the point y’all are missing. He represented a culture, humility, hard work, determination and resilience. Countless kids and adults everywhere are inspired by D Rose. A true inspiration. A true legend. Derrick Rose🌹

Sh*t, man, seeing this made me cry like a F baby, this guy is my favorite player, despite all the obstacles he had in his journey, he continued fighting for his dreams. I feel sad every time I see his highlights, makes me go back in time when I had a really tough time, I was young and I almost quit in life. This guy is beyond a basketball player for me, he made me worry and appreciate more my mom and my grandmother and not take the path of crime in which I would probably be dead by now, that I have to keep fighting to make those two beautiful women who are always looking out for me proud, that I CAN'T QUIT. Man, what a weakness I feel writing this.

He came back from several ones that could've easily been career ending. And he was always a team first guy, never complained, just gave his all to whatever team he was on. He's a legend... who truly loves the game. An inspiration on the court and off it. I'm a die hard Bulls fan... and, I was very upset when we let him go. Had he remained healthy, there was no doubt he would have led the Bulls to the promised land.
I'll never forget the way he wore his heart on his sleeve when he got that 50pt game late in his career at the wolves... that's why we love Derrick... the game means so much to him! I'm glad his number is getting retired... I'm sure, being a Chicago native, he'll be very proud to be recognised for his contribution to Chicago's history.

I remember i could not believe it when the Bulls ended up getting the number 1 pick. Thank God they were smart enough to take this man. He renewed my interest in the game, because it hadnt been the same since MJ retired. All of a sudden, we had the most exciting player in the game again. One of sports greatest tragedies to me is his injury, and has me forever wondering the levels he and the Bulls couldve reached. Still makes me feel sick. Retire his jersey dammit!

Don't worry folks, somewhere in an alternative timeline, DRose was never robbed of his prime and got that ring and couple of more mvp titles.
