In my opinion, the first set of the 2012 turtle are the definitive versions of the figures. I always love the detail and articulation of these figures. They're durable and they fit in great with my six inch figures.
I want Neca to make 2003 version of the Turtles, those are my best iterations of the turtles and I feel like they get no love and it would be amazing to see Neca or any other company make good quality 2003 Turtle figures
@@CaptainMcKayRandom That too and I would love to have more high quality of the 2012 but I feel like 2003 really needs it more but I do see what you mean by they would go for 2012
I grew up with the 2003 ones, but my little brother has a 2012 Leonardo and the articulation and sheer number of joints and moving parts is pretty damn impressive
Donatello was always my favourite as a kid.....mainly because a broom handle made an excellent 'Bo' Staff!! Although, I DID once make a convincing pair of Nunchucks in my shed, but was never allowed to take them out!
Haha same! My grandfather whipped up a pair out of a mop handle and a chain from a hanging plant. That’s how I learned how much nunchucks hurt when they whip around and hit your elbow haha
Neca 1990 Movie Turtles - are the best Turtle figs I’ve ever seen. Spot on! Those reveltech are really nice aswell but being the 1990 movie is my favorite turtle product to date I gotta go with them.
This was GREAT The Playmates Toys for 1987 and 2003 were MY CHILDHOOD so I had a ton of em and just recently have I started getting NECA collectibles which I love. Great work man!!
I wish I still had my old Playmates figures. I had so many and I have no idea what ever became of them. I still hope to stumble upon a box in the attic that has them in it haha. Really appreciate you checking this video out, glad you enjoyed it!
I really wish they would revisit 2003 and 2007 turtles cuz those were my jam. But until then I’ll grab Neca 90’s and green promo turtles. Thanks for helping me choose captain!!!
Glad I could help! Since I made this video, there’s even more available to pick from. There was a set last year from NECA that was the green promo color turtles with interchangeable facial expressions, it came with all four turtles and all their weapons and swap-out hands and some accessories. It’s a great set, I would say to look into those! NECA also recently put out the TMNT2 movie figures, those are Walmart two packs I believe, so if you can’t find the ones from the first movie the ones from Secret of the Ooze might be easier to find. Hope you get a set you like!
Absolutely loved this. Your balance of personal viewpoint and objective observation makes your opinions valid and fair. I really want to grab some more of the 1990 movie era figures, plus the Turtles in Time line that released not too long ago!
Much appreciated! The video game figures are definitely unique, my budget and space wouldn’t allow for them but I definitely admire them from a distance. The movie stuff is killer, I love how they’ve filled in so many of the side characters now.
I have 3 different looking 1990 Raphael heads. All of them came in Gamestop Exclusive packaging. I have the two you showed, but another one with no teeth showing, a fully closed mouth which is my favorite.
This brings back painful memories of my mom giving away almost all my TMNT toys that I FRIGGIN PAID FOR MYSELF AS A KID. Then she realized later when we were older that these were collectibles not just toys when she saw other people's displays 🤦♂️
I have a real soft spot for the old "Movie Star" line. Very little articulation but they look awesome and the rubber-y texture works really well for them. By the standards of 1992 or whatever it was, the detailing was great as well!
I’m with you. In 1992-1993, those turtles were the absolute PINNACLE of my collection. Although it always bothered me that Leonardo’s belt strap was over the wrong shoulder, and that there was only one strap rather than two like in the movie haha.
I happen to own a set of bootleg Mirage Turtles, and I gotta say they’re really great! The joints are nice and tight, but not overly tight. The paint is a little sloppier, but it’s not too bad. They also have the colored headbands as an option! One thing to note is that newer versions of them have a darker green and paler brown compared to the official figures and earlier releases of the bootlegs. Regardless, I’m really satisfied! Also, NECA is going to be releasing an updated set of Mirage Turtles based on how they appeared later on in the Mirage comics, so if you want official Mirage Turtles, then you can get those.
Since making this video I’ve had the chance to handle the bootleg Mirage figures and yes, you’re on the money. They’re really nice for bootlegs, and the option of getting the multi-colored bandanas is a cool variant. I’m really looking forward to the new comic figures, hoping to hear more about their release soon!
For the 2003 series, when they reached the Fast Forward seasons, a new Playmates line with new close-to-source models to boot. They have little details on them that from their new design in the show, but I prefer them over the wave 1 set.
Julian-Chris Reyes now that you mention it, I remember those. They had the more cartoon-accurate head sculpts if I recall correctly. Those would be cool to own some day.
Love the 1990 Neca figures. But they do seem to have some quality control issues. I bought the pack with all four, and the Leonardo and Donatello were both missing scabbards for their weapons on their back. Despite the package clearly showing it. Obnoxious.
Leo should definitely have them. Sadly Donatello just has some little string ties on his belt for his staff, but if those were missing then that’s an issue as well.
@@CaptainMcKayRandom Yeah, I looked into it a bit more, and after doing research, it appears I may have unknowingly bought some (very detailed and elaborate) bootlegs. Apparently at some point, the NECA molds were stolen in China, and used to make a fleet of EXCELLENT fakes. Like, I'm not even mad. The fakes are almost as good as the originals.
@@TheRageaholic Sorry for the double post but some rumors have it that the bootlegs aren’t being made from stolen molds but actually being ran out of the same factory as the official figures, with others even saying that they’re doing it with NECA’s blessings since that line got cut short.
I remember owning 4 TMNT action figures Leonardo 80s cartoon Robot turtle 2003 Shredder without helmet 2003 And Michelangelo with transforming gimmick where you can transform him into his turtle mode
I do not have a favourite set, as I am not a TMNT figure collector. However, I am impressed with those cartoon based figures by NECA. Both the body proportions and the head sculpt look just like I remember the turtles looking like in the cartoon. They look so much more like the cartoon turtles than the original "vintage" figures, as you called them, that any boy would have been a target of envy if he had had them in the early 90's. On the other hand, those movie version figures by NECA are just as accurately sculpted. I am impressed by how well the manufacturer has managed to capture their look from the movies. So, depending whether a collector is a comic, cartoon or movie enthusiast, I would say the NECA figures are his/her best choice.
You really can’t go wrong with any of the ones you mentioned. NECA nails the likeness of each version so well. There have been more recent versions of the cartoon turtles released since I made this video, with some different head sculpts that let you swap different expressions on the figures’ faces, and those are even better than the ones in this video. Count your blessings that you’re not a turtle collector, it gets expensive haha. Thanks for watching, I appreciate you checking a video out when you don’t necessarily have much interest in buying the figures.
It’s funny that I showed our kid (7 now) a toy commercial from the 80’s turtles. Ever since your channel popped up in suggestions. So I thought a trip down memory lane might be fun… Now I am reading IDW’s TMNT and pre ordered The Last Ronin figs from Neca while thinking what other turtle toys to collect. So thanks dude!
That’s really cool! I read a lot of the IDW book but I stopped a long time ago, I really want to go back and read through the whole series including everything I missed. Hopefully you like the figures you end up getting!
@@CaptainMcKayRandom Having worked in a comic shop during my high school years I fondly remember the emergence of Todd McFarlane toys here in european markets and how my old room was decorated with them. So yeah some odd 20’ish years later I’m going to return to form with these. IDW’s Last Ronin is a masterpiece of Turtles comics (with 2 great figs comic to boot) 😃.
Oh wow! My kinda video! Great informative lil...thingy! Would have loved some comparisons between recurring baddies, like Shredder and the Clan, maybe Splinter and Casey.
I wasnt alive during the 80s but my first introduction to the turtles was og the show. I found a dvd of it in my garage and didnt know what to make of it and since i was a curious kid i put it in my dvd player and got hooked
I wish I still had all mine so bad. And I remember as a kid I went to a garage sale with my mom and the guy had potato sack full of TMNT figures plus all the vehicles and a bunch of random loose ones on a shelf and was just 50$ for all of it. I begged my mom to buy it and she said no. I tried to tell her they're worth way more but she didn't think so. It was so upsetting. They were all the classic ones too
There's actually more than a few differences between the initial SDCC/GameStop release and the last set they released. The molds became a little softer with those; so you're not seeing quite the level of detailing compared to the others. It's really noticeable with the plastron (the belly area). One great thing about that last set is how much better the eyes are. There's a very realistic gloss to them that the previous ones lack. So pros and cons of each. Oh yeah, Donnie's bandana is a lighter/more pinkish colour. I've gone through so many copies of each release (plus saving images), and there's even more specific differences. The same goes for other NECA releases. In some cases, they legitimately change the sculpt slightly. The original Leatherhead had a different hair sculpt than the later ones. They were supposed to be the exact same (like not marketed to be different), but weird things happen.
Was really surprised to see that there's two versions of Raphael headsculpt. I was lucky to pick up the initial sdcc release and never took a look at the later GameStop version
You seem very knowledgeable so may I ask you, what the deal is exactly with the roommates Raphael looking different showing way more teeth! I just received my turtles a couple days ago and my Raphael seems to be the exact same way.. ps all of the other turtles have the very glossy eyes as you described and Donatello has the pinkish purple bandana!
I gotta say...I’m in love with the Neca 1990 TMNT movie figures. I got all four turtles and had them for quite a while. Then I randomly found Splinter at GameStop (two weeks ago) and picked him up. Then I ordered Shredder on eBay. Then I randomly found a Foot Soldier at GameStop (yesterday) and picked him up. Looks like Casey Jones is next! Really hoping we get movie April eventually. I have a much bigger attachment to the 1990 movie than any other version of TMNT so this probably plays a role in me being biased. Cool video! This was a nice surprise!
Hell yeah, Bash! Those movie figures are works of art. I’m really glad someone finally made some great quality figures from that first movie, there’s so much possibility for display with all the Foot and Shredder/Splinter. I’d love to see supporting cast like April, hell even Tatsu would be cool to throw in with the Foot. Thanks for watching man!
If you wait long enough, I am almost positive they will release the wave 2 Splinter/Shredder/Foot soldiers most likely in two figure two packs via Walmart, or target. Since they have pulled out of a partnership with the failing Gamestop.
4:05 I have these figures, and I gotta say, they're actually pretty good. definitely not as good as the neca figures since they don't have the precise paint detailing but they have some really great texturing
as a kid in the late 80s and early 90s, I always wanted "the originals", the ones that looked like they do in the cartoon. Sure, you could get turtle toys where you can open the shell on the back and it would have weapons inside. But those had no interest to me. I wanted them, how they looked in the cartoon and I had lots of them. it's funny, me being 40 years old now and looking back on this stuff, it was very fun. I'm even tempted to go see if I still have any toys left, I think I gave my cousin everything when I got too old to play with them. Same with my transformers. I'm a bit sad about that now.
Haha I know the feeling. The first ones I got as a kid were the wind-up ones, which I didn’t like as much because they didn’t come with the signature weapons. I needed to have the ones I saw on the cartoon, haha. I definitely wish I still had my old turtle toys. It’d be a blast to go through them today.
Nice! I agree! I do a lot of custom repaints of turtles and I did it with the Bay ones and I really loved how those turned out even tho at first I didn’t care much for those turtle designs
This is the best TMNT figure guide video I've seen. I myself always wanted since I was a kid and decided to go big with the ultra rare DreamEx 1/6 scale figures, which I don't see any videos on YT showcasing all 4 of them, guess I'll probably shoot one!
I really love those comic book style TMNT figures. I don’t have the NECAs, but I recently purchased the cheaper playmates box set that includes an original style Splinter and Shredder. Now I just wish they’d do a wave in the style as seen on the covers of the trade paperbacks.
Those slightly more polished comic versions would be great to see. NECA nailed the first issue look for sure, but I’d love seeing versions from when the art style got more locked into what we see today from Eastman and Laird. If I’m not mistaken, I heard somewhere that NECA may re-release their comic turtles. I’d suggest buying them if that happens, they really are great figures.
I have _so_ much to comment on with this stellar video, but I'll start off with this: 9:03 - The one your roommate has is the last GameStop release. What happened is the factory made a mistake and inserted Raph's teeth in upside down. NECA does this technique quite a bit, but they tend to not mess up. So by simply having them inserted the wrong way caused the mouth hole to expand open a bit more. I ended up replacing my initial on with the one your roommate has...although theirs is a way more extreme copy than most.
I just got my turtles and I just received mine and my Raph looks like the roommates in the video... I totally thought it was knock a off as I could not find any information on this until ur comment! Thanks! It’s not bad looking for being upside down 😂 rare to find now I guess! 🤷♂️
This is going to be one of your videos that I watch like 10 times. I love shit like this, and you're really, really good at these. You mentioned making more, and by all means, PLEASE DO! The writing is great, the music choice is great, the editing is tops, the presentation is sick, this is so good. Amazing stuff, brudda. And thanks for rocking the Patches shirt in the video.
Those designs are really cool. I’ve heard mixed feedback about the figures themselves, sadly I never got my own set and I forgot to mention them in this video.
@@CaptainMcKayRandom they're good set but there are a little pricey considering the each figure comes with a separate Batman figure and you have to buy four sets in order to get all four
@@CaptainMcKayRandom i recently bought the Batman vs TMNT figures and i love them, i've heard the mixed reviews and honestly don't understand the complaints other limited articulation but i will take somewhat limited articulation if it means a better looking figure.
A lot of the more modern ones do. A lot of NECA versions have them all beneath the shell, with the front being softer rubbery plastic so they can be posed. Revoltech has them also. But yeah I know what you mean, it’s gotta be tough to integrate articulation into such a big stocky torso.
As far as which are best: Objectively, I think the '12 Turtles are when it comes to posability. Well, _duh!_ on that one. Aesthetics wise, I say the '90 movie ones. I know so many collectors say these are the best Turtles ever; but my personal favorites are the NECA cartoon Turtles. The show versions, not the promotional colour scheme. For that, I have the Figuarts ones. They're more accurate to that source than the NECA ones. But like you, I was never over the moon with those. They were certainly the greatest versions at the time for me, but not perfect. Certainly beating out my Playmates Classics versions by light-years. I really didn't like the lower parts of the legs being diecast. And yeah, I despise everything about the Michael Bay Turtles. I straight-up watched those in theaters (and I go to the movies once every few years). How embarrassing it was to be there, especially that elevator scene......uhuhuhuhuh 😬.
Thanks so much for all the comments. This is a lot of great information, I wouldn’t have known all that about NECA and the various differences in their releases. Since putting this video up, I’ve learned a LOT about these figures haha. The SHF figures have a lot of strong support from some of the comments, admittedly if I see them for a good price I’ll probably pull the trigger. I just don’t NEED them at this point, especially since there are so many figures I prefer. NECA movie TMNT has a LOT of well-earned praise. I can’t say enough about how much I like them (along with the figures of the supporting cast), I have found that a lot of my friends love them because of how photogenic they are for figure photography, ACBA, stop motion, etc. People have made some truly amazing stuff with them. Those Revoltech ones are just so much fun. I completely forgot to mention the Batman vs TMNT figures, which I think LOOK really cool design-wise, but I don’t actually have the figures to compare. Thanks again for all the feedback, and for the praise on my presentation. Most of my content is stop-motion and the making-of stuff that goes along with it, but I occasionally do something like this (I’ve done a Batman figure retrospective a few years ago that I’d love to revisit at some point). And lastly, I’m glad knowing that being mistaken for a 20-something isn’t exclusive to just me haha. 35 and feeling every bit of it, but at least I LOOK young!
@@CaptainMcKayRandom Shit went to hell with me beginning at 30. First it was psoriasis, then bone growths, then hypertension, then rheumatoid arthritis...and a whole bunch of mental illnesses as well lol. But like I've said too, at least I look young. I wouldn't even bother with the Figuarts. It's not just that the NECA cartoon Turtles are better all around, but I _really_ don't like the lower metal legs & feet. I ended up probably ordering half a dozen of each from Barnes & Noble to get a set that didn't have shiny metal spots showing through where the paint was missing. So yeah, ppl praise that aspect cause of stability (which isn't needed), but I hate it. Not to mention the colour and sheen doesn't match the plastic skin. I was so close to getting those Revoltech ones the other year. I thought about getting the KO's, but just couldn't do that to myself. They do look to be the funnest to pose...by far. I ended up completing my Batman vs TMNT figures not that long ago when they got heavily discounted. So glad I did that since it's weird only having two of the brothers. I've definitely seen a video or two of yours before, and I'm sure I've watched the Batman figure retrospective. And no problem with the comments and praise...it's well deserved. Ohhh, stop-motion. That was my introduction into the world of film. I used to use my parents Sony 8mm camcorder to make stop-motion videos, Muppets style puppet videos, and a few other things. I'll have to go through your catalog and check out more.
If you ask my eldest daughter, her favourites come from that period where there weren’t really any TMNT shows, with her favourite figure being Blacktop Boardin’ Venus, she’s also a huge fan of some live action series that it’s tied to.
Haha that’s cool to know. I actually kinda wondered, is that show anyone’s definitive TMNT? Like kids who grew up at that time, was that the show they watched and loved? I can’t imagine it myself, but I can’t put myself in that age group so I’m not sure.
I still have quite a collection of tmnt stuff. Me and my brother absolutely loved them as kids. God rest his soul. I always think of him when it comes to the turtles.
My favorites were always the 92 Mutations. They combined the transformation aspect I loved about the Transformers and I just liked the bulky look of the Turtles when transformed Also I gotta add, I always liked how Donnie was often portrayed as either darker or outright brown in some of the toylines, never really understood why but I liked the decision nevertheless
Dude awesome video it was fun to revisit my childhood with lots of these. I especially remember the original Playmates line and the movie star line. That last set you showed based off of the Nickelodeon cartoon in insane I might have to buy those and start my own little collection. Cowabungaaa!
I had the Raphael and Michelangelo of the 2007 movie line. I had so much fun with those as a kid. I had those and when I finally got a copy of the 1990 movie I never stopped watching it. I’m getting the Neca ones now to always remember that part of my childhood
I really do hope that the 2003 show gets some love soon, I would love a modern adult collectors version of those designs; I personally don’t think it’s necessary to keep making versions of the 80s, lol I think we’re good now
Captain McKay Random true stuff man for example power rangers(which I love) they keep going nostalgic with the original series but, there are other seasons to honor as well. They are finally focusing on other seasons now but, still they keep releasing merchandise on the original series but, atleast it’s cool merch
I think that when San Diego Comic con 2021 Comes around Playmates should re-release the 2003 turtles to celebrate the show’s 18th anniversary. Maybe also they could hint a possible show or movie which features them in it.
i remember opening presents when i was a child. getting every single tmnt figure on the market each year. every vehicle and every play set. i had a huge bin of tmnt. i also had every g.i joe in a bin and a bin of every he-man figure along side of that. i always went back to my tmnt figures. the days when a toy was 3 dollars and not 30. i found a few of the backs from my G I joe figures about 15 years ago. marked down to 48 cents at Zellers. i believe i stashed them away so i could cut out the card off the back later on.
I'm in love with what NECA is doing with the turtles! I personally love the boxset of toon turtles they released for SDCC And those Super7 looks really promising!
“I have always liked.... Cowabunga.” This was great, Cap. You really do go into great detail about each line and your own history with them. I really love how many toy lines have had a crack at the shell of this amazing franchise. I wished the 2007 film had some better figures made. I dug the movie but totally understand why it’s forgotten. The Bay movies and their figures... the less said the better. NECA, like you said, really are the Kong’s of the Sewers right now when it comes to Turtle figures. There movie figures are spot on, the Cartoon based figures have all been great, and the video game based turtles are absolutely radical looking. I wish Revoltech got to make more figures based on the 2012 show. They raised shell and even though I’ve never seen them in person, seeing your pics and videos on them makes me want to get the cheap bootlegs on eBay. Just to wife their greatness like Miley opening a box of fresh Dominos. Speaking of bootlegs, I have a set of the NECA Comic figures (cartoon color headbands so you know they’re bootlegs) and they’re not bad at all. They feel slightly off from a real NECA figure but I dig them. Paint looks great on all of them and their joints and articulation feels like the real deal. I agree with everyone who’s said it already. Make more of these if you can. Get a Patreon, damn it!
I’ve heard those NECA bootlegs are good quality, that’s good to hear. It’s really crazy thinking how many sets of tmnt are out there, even beyond just the ones in this video. It’s one of those franchises where I’m always interested to see what comes next. Thanks for watching man, really glad you liked the video!
@Chayce Gayle They'll be worth it for me. I have a lot of nostalgia for those designs. Plus I've dropped a ton of cash on TMNT figures, the Revoltech ones cost me a fortune and I just got the SDCC 2017 Collector's Case for a pretty hefty price as well.
My favorites are the Neca Mirage and 1990 Movie Figures. I also love the Basic Turtles from Playmates and the ones with Storage-Shells. I'm so glad to have bought the Neca Mirage Donatello on a trip to London. It's showcased right next to the 1990 Movie Donatello on top of one of my DVD/Blu-ray Collection showcases.
I’m a huge fan of the first incarnation of turtle figures I had them growing and was tempted to by the rereleased versions. Is that a 616 shirt ur rocking love it looking good Ian would be so happy
Clinton the rereleases are a nice set, honestly as nostalgia goes they’re great showpieces. Ian’s been a friend of mine for a few years, I love his stuff! Glad you’re a fan of his as well.
I actually have to agree with you here, I don’t have a favorite Ninja Turtles figure other then the REVOLTECH Figures, but that’s just because I’m nostalgic toward it, I personally think all of them are “pretty decent”. The 80s Turtles figures made by NECA are Amazing, “The 1990 Movie Turtles” Also made by “NECA” Are the best movie figures because they are movie accurate, The 2003 Turtles have a bit of charm going on through a 2000s lens, The 2007 “Movie” figures are actually pretty good, and the 2012 figures made by REVOLTECH Are So Awesome, but other then that I don’t have a favorite ninja turtles figure, they’re all the best figures for their respective series.
I have the playmates from 2012 and colored their eyes white, they look great, I want to get Neca's Shredder and Splinter and customize them in the style of the 87 series too.
Captain McKay Random yup they did make a prototype which came out on toy fair 1995 and you can find images on varner studios but why it never got released remains a mystery
the 2012 figures have a special place in my heart i have so many memories playing with them they weren’t the most posable but at 6 years old you never cared about that type of stuff
I only ever had the original Playmates toys. It looks like there's been some fantastic releases since then. The NECA comic style turtles are probably my favourite out of what's shown. I just really like that style. I did like how the original Playmates toys were kinda inbetween the comic and cartoon. There was a weirdness to them that appealed to me. It doesn't seem like that weirdness has carried over to newer toys, which is a shame. The NECA cartoon set looks great because it also has villains. I'm of the opinion of "What's the point of getting hero toys, if you don't have equally awesome villain toys for them to face off against?" It's a shame that Rise didn't do better. It was a fantastic show and had unusually high quality 2D animation for a modern kids show. That said, I'm not super into the designs of the show as action figures. I think they animate extremely well, maybe if the action figures were higher quality? Which is kinda funny because I hated the first Bay movie (the second one was oddly much better in my opinion) and I wasn't a fan of the designs seen in the movie (understatement), but looking at the toys...they actually seem pretty neat. They look like they have that mix of styles and added weirdness I enjoyed from the original Playmates line as a kid, but they look higher quality than that.
Thank you! Since this video I’ve got the Raph and Leo from Super 7, I really like what that line is doing but I’m limiting myself to just the turtles because of space and budget. They’re really nice figures!
In my opinion, the first set of the 2012 turtle are the definitive versions of the figures. I always love the detail and articulation of these figures. They're durable and they fit in great with my six inch figures.
The Playmates line? Those are fun, definitely. And the line went really deep, too. Some real gems in there!
those nickelodeon figures with the moving eyes are the goat. wow thats a crazy nice detail.
It’s surprisingly fun haha
I want Neca to make 2003 version of the Turtles, those are my best iterations of the turtles and I feel like they get no love and it would be amazing to see Neca or any other company make good quality 2003 Turtle figures
Someone NEEDS to make great, updated versions of the 2012 turtles. I think a lot of people would go for those.
@@CaptainMcKayRandom That too and I would love to have more high quality of the 2012 but I feel like 2003 really needs it more but I do see what you mean by they would go for 2012

Hope you get a set you like!
80's 90's style version is my favorite...
Man revoltech for 65 bucks a piece now there 500 a piece 😂
I have 3 different looking 1990 Raphael heads. All of them came in Gamestop Exclusive packaging. I have the two you showed, but another one with no teeth showing, a fully closed mouth which is my favorite.
I didn’t know about a third version. That’s really interesting!
This brings back painful memories of my mom giving away almost all my TMNT toys that I FRIGGIN PAID FOR MYSELF AS A KID. Then she realized later when we were older that these were collectibles not just toys when she saw other people's displays 🤦♂️
Great video Man !!!!!! As A kid TMNT....We're Always my Favorite......Can't Wait To Get My Set ! ✌️
Great video. I like the Neca movie version, the 2012 Mattel and obviously, the Playmates original version.
Even the basic figures have a lot of charm and fun with them. That’s part of why I like TMNT so much, every version has something to offer.
I'm a kid of the 80s but them Revoltech figures look fantastic.
10:50 i had all of these when i was 5! I REALLY NEED THEM!!!
Neca deserve to be bootlegged for really awful stock and business practice.
The only problem with this video is...
that it ends.
Companies need to make more turtles so this can continue! Thanks for watching man.
Right tho? This was a great video
I want more revoltech turtles from the 2012 series
Aw thts true and nice
@DTVKids Toy reviews I’m curious why I’m a noob
You do a really good job covering stuff like this! Please make more of them. Very well spoken and you make it entertaining!
Absolutely Agree 100%🤘😝🤘
I agree
@@TheRageaholic my bootleg Leo came with his scabbards but not Don.
@@TheRageaholic Sorry for the double post but some rumors have it that the bootlegs aren’t being made from stolen molds but actually being ran out of the same factory as the official figures, with others even saying that they’re doing it with NECA’s blessings since that line got cut short.
Neca has those issues with almost all their lines unfortunately
nice job man.... keep it up..
my fav definitely the Revoltech..the fun factor is thru the roof...
u got 1 sub!!!! best
Thank you! I love the Revoltechs
@@CaptainMcKayRandom wow Might ask for Storm Co Street Fighter Stop motion... I spot some during the vid.. ☇☇
I remember owning 4 TMNT action figures
Leonardo 80s cartoon
Robot turtle 2003
Shredder without helmet 2003
And Michelangelo with transforming gimmick where you can transform him into his turtle mode
I think the Robot Turtle might have been Metalhead. I think he had a figure for that line. It’s been so long, and there’ve been SO many figures haha.
Love this video!! Thank you for this! Production was great!
Glad you liked it!
@@CaptainMcKayRandom makes good sense, curious TH-camr wants to see if figures are worth buying , , , then scared off by the price 👍😸👍
It’s funny that I showed our kid (7 now) a toy commercial from the 80’s turtles. Ever since your channel popped up in suggestions. So I thought a trip down memory lane might be fun…
Now I am reading IDW’s TMNT and pre ordered The Last Ronin figs from Neca while thinking what other turtle toys to collect.
I used to be an adventurer like you that is until I started collecting neca tmnt figures
Oh wow! My kinda video! Great informative lil...thingy!
Would have loved some comparisons between recurring baddies, like Shredder and the Clan, maybe Splinter and Casey.
I'd have loved to include all of those, but sadly I don't have all the different versions from over the years. Glad you enjoyed!
I've grown up with the 80s & 2003 shows and 1990s & 2007 movies, but the 2012 Nickelodeon TV show is absolute my favourite TMNT versions of all time!
It’s a great show, I love how it blends all the previous versions together and redesigns some of the characters for a new audience.
I agree it’s a great show
They actually did some episodes with the 80s turtles!
I just bought the 2012 turtles off of ebay. I really like them.
Samee
6:30 I say you get both versions so you can recreate the spider man pointing scene
9:04 OMG THANK GOD! I thought mine was a bootleg for a sec (I have the one where he looks more angry)
Thankfully not, haha. Technically it could be a production error, I suppose, but it’s a legit figure!
They were all the classic ones too
DAMN 😏
What is your mom saying about that now ?
@@briom1425 "Get a job, buy your own stuff" lol
IMO, I really enjoy NECA’s 90’s & for nostalgia NECA’s Cartoon version. Thank you for the video
Great choices. Thanks for watching!
You uploaded this on my birthday. You spoil me, good sir. Going to check this out a bit later. Major league hyped.
my favorites tmnt action figures are:
3:31 neca tmnt comic book
2:08 playmates tmnt 80s figures
5:11 neca tmnt 80s figures
8:26 neca 90s tmnt movie
6:50 s.h figuarts tmnt
7:39 playmates classic tmnt figures
10:57 TMNT 2003 FIGURES
14:29 TMNT REVOLTECH 2012 FIGURES
they are my favorities
Great video man! love it when you dive into figure lines like this.
Thank you!
Your Wrestling figures in the background 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
Neca is a week only pre order for tokka and rahz from the second movie and a super shredder version
April O’Neil is coming. Judith Hoag is following the production process after being invited at Neca
4:05 I have these figures, and I gotta say, they're actually pretty good. definitely not as good as the neca figures since they don't have the precise paint detailing but they have some really great texturing
Since making this video, I’ve gotten to mess with the bootlegs and I agree, they’re really nice. Great option to have!
dude, this video looks like you recorded it in the 90's, amazing touch!!
A byproduct of having older equipment haha. Glad you think it adds to the presentation overall!
as a kid in the late 80s and early 90s, I always wanted "the originals", the ones that looked like they do in the cartoon.
Please do! I’ve been curious, I totally forgot to mention the DreamEx figures in this video. I do know they existed at the time and they look great.
I grew up on these. TMNT were my idols. Thanks for the video dude, brought back a lot of happy memories.
Really glad to hear that man, happy you liked it!
The revamped TMNT Cartoon line and the movie line by NECA are fantastic!
NECA has been doing a great job with their TMNT, definitely!
This is the perfect video I've been looking for and I might pick up those revoltech tmnt ones they look the best imo
I really like the 2012 ones because those are the ones that got me into collecting turtles
I remember playing with my friend's OG rubber head TMNT figures. I only had the hard plastic ones.
I have _so_ much to comment on with this stellar video, but I'll start off with this:
9:03 - The one your roommate has is the last GameStop release.
I couldn’t agree more with the black and white NECA turtles they are my favorite. I still need to pick up the revoltech ones.
Really glad you dug it, man. The Patches shirt being front and center needed to happen, haha. Thanks for sharing the link around too!
I personally like the ones that came with the Batman Ninja turtles animated movie toy line I like those designs
One problem I have with most of the tmnt figures is that they don’t have an ab crunch so you can barely get them in a cool pose
A lot of the more modern ones do. A lot of NECA versions have them all beneath the shell, with the front being softer rubbery plastic so they can be posed. Revoltech has them also. But yeah I know what you mean, it’s gotta be tough to integrate articulation into such a big stocky torso.
As far as which are best:
Objectively, I think the '12 Turtles are when it comes to posability.
@@CaptainMcKayRandom
Shit went to hell with me beginning at 30.
Those figures from the 2012 line were fun to collect and display.
I agree. I loved the mousers, you could use those with any version of the turtles. It was a fun line.
Awesome video! I loved the way you posed the Revoltech turtles in the van!
Thanks! Glad you liked it.
Bandai Tamashii Nations S.H. Figuarts TMNT Diecast core figures are the best.
Some other comments have said the same thing. I missed them on sale a few weeks ago, wish I was able to get them because the price was really good.
Yeah i feal your fealing!
I still have quite a collection of tmnt stuff. Me and my brother absolutely loved them as kids. God rest his soul. I always think of him when it comes to the turtles.
Appreciate you watching the video. Hopefully it could bring back a good memory or two for you.
The 2003 show will always be the ninja turtles to me, they were just done so perfectly
Okay.
For me I loved the playmates TMNT toys that were released when the 2012 TMNT cartoon was on
My favorites were always the 92 Mutations. They combined the transformation aspect I loved about the Transformers and I just liked the bulky look of the Turtles when transformed
Also I gotta add, I always liked how Donnie was often portrayed as either darker or outright brown in some of the toylines, never really understood why but I liked the decision nevertheless
Dude awesome video it was fun to revisit my childhood with lots of these. I especially remember the original Playmates line and the movie star line. That last set you showed based off of the Nickelodeon cartoon in insane I might have to buy those and start my own little collection. Cowabungaaa!
I think the 2012 Ninja Turtles by REVOLTECH are my favorites! Nice vid Cap
They’re so much fun! Thanks for watching.
Fr
LOL “that Damn water level”
Hahaha I know everyone my age can relate
Nostalgia hits harder than a rock
I had the Raphael and Michelangelo of the 2007 movie line. I had so much fun with those as a kid. I had those and when I finally got a copy of the 1990 movie I never stopped watching it. I’m getting the Neca ones now to always remember that part of my childhood
That’s awesome. Yeah NECA is great at recapturing that old nostalgia, they make it really easy to fall deep into a toy line haha
I really do hope that the 2003 show gets some love soon, I would love a modern adult collectors version of those designs; I personally don’t think it’s necessary to keep making versions of the 80s, lol I think we’re good now
Seriously, after seeing all the comments about those turtles, there’s a BIG paycheck to be made for whoever creates updated 2003 figures.
PlatinumKnight2003 like a turtles in time 2; the channel “turtleden” mentioned that. Definitely check him out if you havent already
i remember opening presents when i was a child. getting every single tmnt figure on the market each year. every vehicle and every play set. i had a huge bin of tmnt.
i also had every g.i joe in a bin and a bin of every he-man figure along side of that. i always went back to my tmnt figures.
the days when a toy was 3 dollars and not 30. i found a few of the backs from my G I joe figures about 15 years ago. marked down to 48 cents at Zellers. i believe i stashed them away so i could cut out the card off the back later on.
i wish they'd made versions of the comic turtles how they were drawn in the later comics where they wasn't as lanky and more thicker and muscular.
Agreed. I’d love some “City at War” looking ones.
This was such a great vid. I wished it was longer. Thanks for making this!
Thanks. Really glad you liked it!
I'm in love with what NECA is doing with the turtles! I personally love the boxset of toon turtles they released for SDCC
And those Super7 looks really promising!
I’m excited to see what Super 7 does, the throwback look is really great!
Interesting collection from Playmates I had Leonardo Hockey - The best ones are the ones made by Neca comic style and their accessories
This is made very professionally nice job
What an incredible video you made, many thanks pal!
You can get some of the SH Figuarts TMNT gigs on a website called Heromic.com though you have to import from Sweden.
No matter what, the originals will always be my favorite. I do wish they would make figures based on the original package art. That was awesome
The original 10 backs in card are the best!
love the retro type recording of the video
The 2003 ones have an armored version of the figures and if you take the armor off, it has way more articulation
I grow up with 2003 turles and brought there toy
Same but they're long gone now. Really wish we could get NECA figures of them.
Very nice! I had a soft spot for the Storage Shell versions as a kid, they were such cool sculpts.
Captain McKay Random Ian is the reason I know of your great channel so thanks to you both
Trip down memory lane, thank you!
12:48 these guys are my favortie bc of the flexibility
@Sarah Bilal why?
I love that your video look straight from the 90s
Yeah they’re all really well represented by great figures, I just wish someone would make great new versions of 2003 designs.
I have the playmates from 2012 and colored their eyes white, they look great, I want to get Neca's Shredder and Splinter and customize them in the style of the 87 series too.
Jim Lee by playmates in 1995 is so underrated. Wished Leonardo came out
I was surprised they never got around to Leonardo. Was it meant for release and just never made it out? Or did they never even make a prototype?

Captain McKay Random yup they did make a prototype which came out on toy fair 1995 and you can find images on varner studios but why it never got released remains a mystery
the 2012 figures have a special place in my heart i have so many memories playing with them they weren’t the most posable but at 6 years old you never cared about that type of stuff
I hear that. I had the original Playmates line as a kid, those didn’t move very much but I had so much fun with them!
I'm of the opinion of "What's the point of getting hero toys, if you don't have equally awesome villain toys for them to face off against?"
It's a shame that Rise didn't do better.
I began collecting the new super 7 ultimates and absolutely love them. Very knowledgeable and entertaining video.
Thank you! Since this video I’ve got the Raph and Leo from Super 7, I really like what that line is doing but I’m limiting myself to just the turtles because of space and budget. They’re really nice figures!
