I strategically spent all my hobby money for the month the day before these were released so I wouldn't go too crazy and buy them all out of hype. I just bought Donnie and I'm quite happy with him. I spray-painted his fanny pack black 'cause I found the gray dull, forgetting that would make it sticky; the black then got on the figure's legs. Nothing tragic, but if I do end up buying the other three I may buy another Donnie since I messed mine up.
Got all 4 single carded Turtles as well as the Target exclusive Turtle Tots 2 packs. Now I have 3 different versions of each Turtle (baby, toddler, teen)!

Interesting fact, each of the turtles signature weapon is opposite of their personality, donnie is given the most simplest looking weapon despite being the smartest, mikey is given the most complex weapon despite being most childish, ralph given a defensive weapon even though he is the most offensive minded whereas Leo who is the most level headed is given the most devastating weapon. A lesson to embrace areas outside our comfort zone
Very excited for the new movie and I love these figures, especially after panel lining them with some brown and black gundam markers to make the finer details pop. Though I wish there was more range in the arms and legs and that there were hinges in the wrists and ankles, for 10 bucks there’s a lot of value in these guys. Suffice to say they’re a surprisingly fun set!

I've got two Raphs. One has an "R" on its belt like the one Dan reviewed in this video. The other's "R" is slightly more aligned to the right with more uniformly-lengthed descenders. Anyone else have a Raph with the belt "R" that matches this description?
I just picked up Donatello (my favorite Turtle) at Target today. He was the only one left. I decided to check out your review because your TMNT reviews brought me so much joy back in 2012 for the Nickelodeon line when I was in middle school. These new TMNT toys are so cool and remind me of that 2012 line. It feels great to see people getting excited for the new movie and seeing Playmates put such love into this line. Cowabunga!
When I started collecting Origins, the intent was they would mainly be for my kid when he got old enough, and I had been hoping to also do the same for him with TMNT. The reissues, while awesome, weren’t quite what I had in mind as far as a “modernized” toy line specifically for him. I think this line fits the bill though. I really like the way these look, and I think my son will absolutely adore them as well. Definitely gonna try to pick these up…at least the core Turtles. We’ll see where it goes from there! 🙂
I got to target first thing Sunday morning when they opened and was like a kid again at 35 being the first to get TMNT toys. It was a great feeling I didn’t know I was missing until that moment. Playmates did a great job with these at their price point.
Found these at Target today & these figures & the packaging are just good ol' action figure fun, not to sound cheesy but this is great stuff. Love the figures themselves too! I feel like the collector & toy community really needed this👌
Cool review and figures! I like how Playmates gave Donatello removable glasses. I understand that he wears glasses now, but I'm old school when it comes to TMNT. I prefer him without them.
I dont know why, but in my eyes this figures screams Happy Meal toy all over. Sure, they are a bit more articulated than a usual HM-toy, but there is something about that shiney plastic and the sort of "cartoon feel" about them that connotates to a McD HM-toy for me. But I have to say that I love the mini Turtles. Reminds me of the gift in the TMNT-slime from the 90's that come with a "Glow in the dark"-mini turtle. I always got the crawling on, just like those including in this box set. I dont even know if there was other, more "evolved" Turtles included in that Ooze slime.
Picked up Donny today and I haven’t picked up a Playmates Turtle toy in years… memories rushed through my mind, and I found myself immediately coming back here. I haven't seen these in stores yet, was just at Target Monday and Walmart Tuesday, but was surprised to see the online prices were only around $10. Playmates is really doing some great releases for that price point.
i found empty slots of them at every target i went to because people are buying tf out of these, and then blowing the price up online. and whats worse is target, wal,art, and amazon, still only have them up for pre order.
@@Pixel-dan It's the very reason why I always considered the Playmates TMNT stuff wasted money. I know it's for kids and not high end collectibles but even as a kid it bothered me those figures never looked like the cartoon.But since Rise they seem to make an effort in making more screen accurate figures and these honesty look very good. I might even pick these up which I never expected.
Everyone is finding these figures but when I go to my target there’s nothing, nothing at all the only thing they had is a retro storage shell Raphael. Which really sucks because I am really looking forward to these figures and they look amazing and I can’t wait to get them.

I was 6 or 7 or around that age watching u review all kinda tmnt 2012 stuff. I watched what seems like all of it. All the time, just seeing you review tmnt toys of my dreams back in the day, It was amazing for a kid like me to watch. Seeing you still doing it in the same style today in 2023 for mutant mayhem just is pure joy and a nostalgic sight to see for me. I just turned 14... time flies. Just wanted to say thank you for bringing me and so many others joy in our childhoods. Hope you keep up the amazing content for the present-day kids to enjoy.
Great Video as always! Would love to see other current toy lines in comparison time too, so we can see if they play well on the shelf. Obviously these guys wouldn’t fit next to Masterverse for example, but whether they’d be in scale with Origins or the Netflix MOTU would be cool to see
Since this version of the turtles plays up their youth, it makes sense to me that they'd be smaller than a human adult. I think there's an argument that they can fit in alright with a 1/12 line. (Not the villains though, unfortunately)

Never gotten any TMNT Playmates figures before, but I was so excited for the movie and loved it so much, I needed some figures of these boys!They definitely don’t disappoint! They’re so nice I’m torn between opening them or not! Lol😅
So I bought all nine wave 1 figs. But before I bought them all , a few days before I ordered a separate Raph to open. Just got it in today and it has the sticker on the inside of the bubble that has some numbers and “TMNT movie Raphael”. Not only that it has the black pouch. This is a chase fig? Meaning it’s worth more? Now I don’t want to open it.
Donatello's purple is to dark in my opinion. It should have been a way lighter purple like it's supposed to be. They all look awesome though. I want all 4 of them 💙🐢🧡🐢❤️🐢💜🐢
I’m not gonna lie. It’s the movie that makes me want all of them. I really enjoyed the movie more than I expected. They got the teenage aspect so perfectly. But I digress. Aside from that, the figures look really good in general. If the figures looked cheap, I would pass. But again I’m not a huge ninja turtles fan, but this movie is sort of changing my ways. Yeah I grew up with the show and I am currently playing shredders revenge on the PS5 but I can’t call myself a huge fan. But I need to get these guys. Showing the articulation in the legs was a whole “take my money” scenario because I didn’t even know that was the case because I’m big on posing because I am a huge Marvel Legends collector. So this is definitely a must have for me. Thank you sir.

Hey Dan, here's a suggestion for another TMNT figure review which is the Donatello, an Michealangalo figures from BST AXN both of which look like they jumped right out of the 1984 comic books and include a comic book which features a few solo adventures of the Turtle within the packaging and on the packaging, interchangeable hands and heads are also included a long with one slice of pizza each and both heads have red masks so it's worth noting that they went full on 1984 Eastman and Laird TMNT on those figures
Pretty cool, considering buying these for my daughter -- oh, come on, FOR ME -- and this review was very instructive. I'm out of touch with toylines these days, the Leonardo from my childhood was from one of the oldest toy lines and that's the only one I've seen in the flesh (outside of cheap knockoffs).
One thing I saw is the tree weapon have similar ones like Tmnt 2012 like Leo’s having one small blade and three daggers and Donnie three section staff Mikey’s sickle blade and raphs hook swords

I thinkt the animation style translates really well for kids toys. And with the line up Playmates is doing. Verybeasy to end up with multiple basic figures of the turtles and Bebop

There are some Raph's out there that don't have the pouch on his belt painted brown, it's just black. The R on belt buckle is also smaller.
Very cute designs, but I wish Mikey had a smaller head. Otherwise very cool! Also, glad Donnie’s glasses are removable.

Just got it in today and it has the sticker on the inside of the bubble that has some numbers and “TMNT movie Raphael”. Not only that it has the black pouch. This is a chase fig? Meaning it’s worth more? Now I don’t want to open it.

Donatello's purple is to dark in my opinion. It should have been a way lighter purple like it's supposed to be. They all look awesome though. I want all 4 of them 💙🐢🧡🐢❤️🐢💜🐢
I’m not gonna lie. It’s the movie that makes me want all of them. I really enjoyed the movie more than I expected. They got the teenage aspect so perfectly. But I digress. Aside from that, the figures look really good in general. If the figures looked cheap, I would pass. But again I’m not a huge ninja turtles fan, but this movie is sort of changing my ways. Yeah I grew up with the show and I am currently playing shredders revenge on the PS5 but I can’t call myself a huge fan. But I need to get these guys. Showing the articulation in the legs was a whole “take my money” scenario because I didn’t even know that was the case because I’m big on posing because I am a huge Marvel Legends collector. So this is definitely a must have for me. Thank you sir.

Are the heads removable? Cause it's the exact mold from kick cycle and battle cycle only with just helmet.

Hey Dan, here's a suggestion for another TMNT figure review which is the Donatello, an Michealangalo figures from BST AXN both of which look like they jumped right out of the 1984 comic books and include a comic book which features a few solo adventures of the Turtle within the packaging and on the packaging, interchangeable hands and heads are also included a long with one slice of pizza each and both heads have red masks so it's worth noting that they went full on 1984 Eastman and Laird TMNT on those figures
Been almost impossible to find in Québec Canada now 😭..... Can't wait to get my hands on them!

My Leonardo has brown paint transfers on both his hands from his swords. Does anyone know how to remove them?
If that's what you think then why didn't you do that with the other Michelangelo figures in the past

Pretty cool, considering buying these for my daughter -- oh, come on, FOR ME -- and this review was very instructive. I'm out of touch with toylines these days, the Leonardo from my childhood was from one of the oldest toy lines and that's the only one I've seen in the flesh (outside of cheap knockoffs).

One thing I saw is the tree weapon have similar ones like Tmnt 2012 like Leo’s having one small blade and three daggers and Donnie three section staff Mikey’s sickle blade and raphs hook swords

I thinkt the animation style translates really well for kids toys.
And with the line up Playmates is doing. Verybeasy to end up with multiple basic figures of the turtles and Bebop

I am quite happy to sort of start collecting TMNT figures again, the new Mutant Mayhem designs look so outlandish and insane! Have Mikey and Leo coming to me tomorrow, hope that they’re good in hand!
