Man, you're gonna make me want to get that ATV game for the GameCube. It looks great. Love finding hidden gems I'd never have thought to consider because of this channel!
It's so damn good, seriously. I was shocked at how much I enjoyed it - fully prepped to toss it into my trade bin and instead it's got a permanent home. :) Thank you so much for watching!!
Love how comfortable you are speaking. I feel like even without a script you have great flow and cardence to your discussions, it makes it so easy to listen to you. Excited to see what you got in this months box
That was a pretty awesome box Jay! That ATV one looks like a lot of fun. I had Timon and Pumbaa’s Jungle Games on the PC back in the day, so it was fun to see that one again for a minute. Great stuff man, really well done as always.
Great box Jay! I used to love the ATV off-road racing games back on my PS2. My buddies and I would take turns doing freestyle matches in between drinking and acting like the foolish 20 something’s we were. 😂 A couple solid cart games here too! Love that dude! And the new Gameroom is looking nice! 🍻🤙🏻
It’s been so long since I’ve heard that F-Zero title theme! Thanks for playing it. Nintendo could basically print money if they just remastered F-Zero GX or made an F-Zero Collection…
If I had a view for every tine I forgot to start the camera or turn on my mic, I'd be competing with Metal Jesus 😂 Very racer heavy thus mongh, but the box was saved with Flashback. Very interesting box art you guys got over there for Flashback 😎👍
Timon and Pumba's Jungle Games is a port from a PC title. This is why things feel like they're dragging on the SNES RUSH! Dude, I spent so many hours playing this as a kid. I also need to pick this one up. I'd say it's better than Crusin' just because it runs slightly smoother. Dude, Jay, the ATV games are solid racers with great soundtracks. How dare you try to dismiss them haha. The animations in Flashback look great!
Rush is so good. I'm more excited about that being in my collection now than I would have anticipated, even though it was on my wishlist. ATV games...I'm not sure what my disconnect is with them. I've never been into them, this is the first one I've ever really enjoyed in any way. I'll have to give some of them another shot - any you'd suggest? :) And seriously, Flashback is the definition of technological marvel. The game is great, but the background story on its development and how they squeezed every last bit of power out of the Mega Drive/Genesis is fascinating to read.
Pretty good box this month! I have to say Rush is the winner for me, such a really fun racing game and there were a lot of those on the n64. I've never played Flashback, may have to give that a try on the snes
You make a good point. And I would, but at this point I question if rebranding is smart since I've been Square Pegs for longer than that show was ever on the air. People know me as SP, and changing that might be foolish. I dunno, I'll look into it. But fun fact: that's why I always say 'I'm the one without Sarah Jessica Parker'. :P
Rush is a fantastic game. I'm actually more of a fan of Rush 2049. My brother and I as kids would rent it over and over and play the stunt mode which is kinda like Tony Hawk but with a car in a giant arena.
Rush is a sweet game and almost all its iterations are great as well. I really dig 2049 a lot myself. Flashback always reminded me of Jurassic Park on Genesis (without the dinosaurs) even though Flashback predates JP. Ib think I experienced them out of chronological order hence the backward remembrance. 😀 Definitely good stuff this month!
Most people consider the Sega CD superior, but the cut scenes have aged badly. The voice acting is ok though. On balance the Genesis version is better. That said, my own port is on the Atari Jaguar 🐆
That ATV game is the exact reason I like VGM. A game would have never bought turns out to be one you enjoy. I hate the character movements in flashback/ Prince of Persia.
Well I don't work for them, so I won't say you're wrong. I'd rather think of it as you won something cool and the service wasn't the right fit for you at the time. Nothing wrong about that at all. :)
Dude, they only give you good stuff because you have more viewers but anyone else they will cancel your membership if they don’t like your console choices. FUCK videogames monthly, it’s a ripoff
Hey JB, welcome back! Been a minute since you've been on here implying I'm a shill for VGM. Here's a few responses: 1. The 'Good Stuff' you're talking about only ever crops up on months when you feel like commenting. Assuming this month it's Flashback? Why no comments last month when I got Lester the Unlikely? Or the month before with the Berenstain Bears? Or, christ, this month with Timon & Pumba or Excitebike? Good lord, man, last month my big hit was fucking Tecmo Bowl. 2. My guy, I have ~13,500 subscribers. There are FAR larger channels they could send 'good stuff' to, and have them do unboxings. 3. I cannot in good conscience say that they don't know who I am anymore. But Joe is well aware that if I feel he's giving me preferential treatment that I'll call him out on it. 4. You always say it's a ripoff, but I'd counter that your expectations are wildly out of whack. You're paying a requisite amount every month, you should anticipate an equivalency based on what you pay. If you're expecting to get an inequitable return on what you put in, that's foolhardy. And seriously, dude...same comments for two years. You gotta move past this. I seriously dig your pickup videos - focus on the things you like.
Another solid box from Video Games Monthly. Every month, you are getting me closer to at least try the service for a few months. I agree with you about the racing games on the N64. The game you got, I like the second one better but the first is still really good. I recently bought back my copy of Beetle Adventure Racing I traded into my local video game store. Live and learn. Someday. Maybe. Take care! 🟧

Oh RUSH!! Love the Nintendo 64!
Best console for racing games? I think so.
I'm a fan of Excitebike, so I gotta love that you got that! Great video! Great framing!
At 7:50 I thought you were going to say you weren't in any kind of a "rush" to get the game 😆
Joe you're now hired to script all of my videos.
@@SquarePegs 🤣
There it is, Flashback! 🔥
Had to give you your flowers on that one, my guy. :)

I mean, the games were great, but the fact that I saw a little Ren and Stimpy just made my day. 😀
Rush actually looks like a pretty good racing game. Normally when I want a racing game I go to Playstation.
Rush is really fun - scratches the arcade itch very well and feels really fast, when a lot of games on the 64 can feel slow. Thanks for watching!
@@shadowstonettv the N64 has a great assortment of racing games.
@@outdoorsjoe I never had an N64 when I was little, I went from SNES to PS1
Great box
Glad you got something you really liked. I haven't played Flashback enough to give it yeah or nay.

I like these videos. I think with VGM you're also paying for the expectation - that's part of the appeal too. Flashback is an all-time classic.
I think this was your VGM racing box.....well almost.
I haven't played Flashback but I kind of want to play it now. It honestly looks pretty cool.
VGM time with Square Pegs
Time for a homebrew Mashup...Flashback the Unlikely
How dare you put that out into the universe.
Looks like a great box
It’s been so long since I’ve heard that F-Zero title theme! Thanks for playing it. Nintendo could basically print money if they just remastered F-Zero GX or made an F-Zero Collection…
We’re all bad at ExciteBike. All of us.
What a great idea for a video game service❤
SF RUSH! Love it! Thats why I have VGM is because I might not know a game that is a true hidden gem. Great video.
If I had a view for every tine I forgot to start the camera or turn on my mic, I'd be competing with Metal Jesus 😂

love the F-zero music!

Always thought it was an underrated game. ATV quad power racing 2 is gonna sky rocket in price now! hahaha
Probably you need to change your TH-cam username. Everytimes I search for square pegs it show another square pegs username (a tv series)

I think changing it to Square Pegs - Video Game Lounge or something would help the algorithm differentiate
Rush and rush 2 were great.

I bought that Timon and Pumbaa game for ProJared. He was not impressed.
I agree with you on the Jungle Games > Lion King. I have so much nostalgia for that pinball game, the rest was meh.
