2 houndmasters with 2 abominations is an interesting Team I've used even in champion runs. Everyone is capable of healing and dealing with the stress. (I think its stupid that an abomination stresses out another abomination during the transformation though)
Abomination transformation should really only stress himself and religious heroes out. That way his beast form is actually usable outside of bosses or really bad situations.
Merciless probably refers also to the party nature that doesnt have hesitation to harm others? like plague doctor with her research and sample, highway man with his crime, hellion of her nature as barbarian and occultist who doesn't affraid to dabble with dark art even if it's injure his fellow team mates
Random fact: The plague doctors actually were from the renaissance era, not the medieval one. Also I love going with a flagelant and double bounty hunter using caltrops for bosses, stacking bleeds+damage taken I have made up to something like 100 bleed damage on a turn. The flesh heart was a breeze with that setup
Tricky Glory > Usual Suspects That's PD, Highwayman, Vestal, Crusader Obviously Highwayman's first turn is Duelist Advance, which moves Vestal to her preferred position and puts Highwayman in rank 2, meaning he can damage the backline on his second turn. If Vestal ends up going before Highwayman then she can still stun from rank 2, which is generally what you're doing most times with your Vestal's first turn anyway.
Awesome stuff. I didn't know the name would change if you just changed one position. The highwayman in most situations should go before the vestal so this should work more times than not making that a very reliable opener.
I like to use Marked for Death (arb, occ,hm,bh). Everybody can mark, 2 heals, 1 self heal and tons of dmg. It's amaizing against bosses. Mark-kill-repeat!
Wait a minute, I literally USED the same team but the difference was that i put Occ in pos 4 and Arb in pos 3 instead of vice versa. My reasoning was that i was considering the fact that the team might be shuffled and usually the backmost hero will be pulled to the front most position Long story short, used the team, it's great, and will definitely recommend to others
I could legitimately see Master of the Hounds working, hilariously enough. Keep the ones in slots 2 and 3 for utility and reserve the one in slot 1 (and 2 if you really need it) for DPS. You can, in theory, rotate them around to prevent Stress from stacking up too much, and Absolution can heal a good amount of Stress as well. Also, Master of the hounds seems like an amazing team for DoT especially if you like spamming Beast's Bile.
It could absolutely work. I think mediums and below it should be fine. A long dungeon may allow too many chances for big damage or too much stress build up on one person.
My favourite is "Sisters of Battle" (PD-V-SB-Hel). Even is the name is kinda uninspiring, the core functionality is very good in medium dungeon in the cove or even long ones in Ruins. Healing, lots of blight DoT, armour piercing, two double stuns and target row versatility, only lacking stress heal. For a little variation, swap SB for GR and use the PD as a "spotter" with blight to increase the damage of GR. Maybe it's not the best, but I quite like the overall strategy.
In DD2 the "Sisters of Battle" return with PD-GR-Runaway-Hellion. Because right now in Early Access these are the only four female playable characters.
First off, I love the party names in the darkest dungeon and there are so many more not listed here. To see my favorite useful name click see more! Mark and bark! I actually really love the combination of characters and skills. Also, doggo! Let me know which your favorite fun name is and also useful party. Thank you for watching and have a great weekend.
My personal favourite team is what I call the ruins ruiners (since it doesn't have an actual name), consisting of two crusaders in the back and two lepers in the front. I put accuracy and damage trinkets on the lepers and on the crusaders if I decide to give them rabies. Lepers have solemnity for stress and health heals while crusaders have battle heal and inspiring cry, but since they're all so tanky I rarely have to use it. Crusaders spam holy lance while lepers chop and hew the front. It's therapeutic seeing the big crit numbers and enemies instantly die.
I dunno if the party has to have a name. If not: Vestal-Jester-Highwayman-Man at Arms. You can replace the Jester with anything you wish for, but you cannot overlook these battle ballad's. If it has to be named. Well... When you go through it, And you can't go through it, And you can't knock it down, You know that you found: THE WALL, THE WALL, THE WALL.
The Femme Fatales is a fun composition. Vestal for healing Plague Doctor and Grave robber for DoT and burst (due to GR) and Hellion for big damage/Dot.
Gattling Gun is my personal fav. Ranks 1-4; HWM, HWM, Grave robber, Vestal. Make the Grave robber go first with lunge into rank 2 HWM riposte, then rank 3 HWM riposte which puts grave robber back at rank 3. High crits keeps stress low plus vestal makes the comp sustainable. And high damage keeps general dmg and stress low already. Would highly recommend in cove because you can always just pick to the face and point blank on repeat for the high prot front liners. Make sure you set the speeds of the grave robber at the highest, then rank 1 HWM second, then rank 2 HWM as the 3rd or 4th(because doesnt really matter if he's faster than the vestal). Cheers!
Weakness's would consist of stuns because it fucks the cogs that make this comp work, you can take shadow fade to combat this. This comp absolutly SMACKS the drowned crew btw
I had a really fun team comp that I would try on occasions in the Cove. Shieldbreaker rank 1, Abomination Rank 2, Plague Doctor Rank 3, and Occultist Rank 4. Healing for everyone in various ways, tons of Blight from everyone except Occulist, fantastic Damage including Pierce, and some movement just in case things get a little hairy.
- I know I've mentioned it to you before, but for total fun, I still love PD/JES/ABOM/OCC, whom are not named officially but I have christened No One Left Unstunned (N.O.L.U.), named after No One on the Steam forums, who unabashedly declares this to be his best comp - for official names, and for actual function and efficiency, I have to go with the Hunting Hounds of Hell. VES/HM/MAA/HEL is great for varied areas but particularly shines in Bleed-weak regions, is fairly Shuffle-resistant, had numerous ways to deal with backline opponents, has some Stress protection, and a form of Stun on everyone
Honestly. In my,own experience if the party has a name to it it can or will work well in any place or dungeon. I took the usual suspects to the weld for champion and crushed it. It was rng to be honest but the name is almost always a good sign.
I really like Bloody Banquet, Occultist Jester Highwayman Flaggelant. Focused on stacking bleeds, good stress heal presence and reach, heals are strong but not always reliable, falls short against high bleed resist, but all in all pretty good
lol i usually choose the party according to the place i'm going. So for ex, i would never take a bleed character such as the hellion, to cove. But it's interesting to see some really nice partys come out of unusual combinations.
Stun and gun: arbalest, plague doctor, highway, and hellion was in my 1st encounter with the prophet; blind luck to have a team really good vs the back line
Gatling Gun (Vestal-GR-HWM-HWM) destroys everything in it's path wile also having good enough healing and dodge chances. Being able to spam a move which i not meant to be spent results in pretty fun stuff. Also honestly Merchant Caravan (Antiquarian-Antiquarian-SB-SB) is probably the best money-making party and also somewhat viable anyway if you stack dodge however possible (but you really have to try). Similar consept with Gatling Gun now that i think about it - just spam impale until they're all dead.
I could see Master of the Hounds working because the human form Abominations have both stress and regular heal in the same skill. Hound master has a heal and stress heal in separate skills (stress heal goes for whole team and helps a lot). Hound master can also melt enemies fairly well with all of the bleed damage he does, we also have three stacks of blight on the middle section of enemies right off the top of the fights, plus stuns. I think the only thing that will end up making a run poor would be RNG, trinkets, and where you go. I wouldn’t use this in the Weald due to the fact that everything does blight damage and can easily brush it off. I WOULD consider using it in the Cove because while bleed isn’t a guarantee, you could realistically get away with at least one burst of blight round 1. But what will also kill this run would be the lack of dodges that these mad lads could pull off.
@@HiDdeNSQuiDZGaming are there any charms that would mesh well with them that would boost dodge? Cause I know that there are dodge charms but I don’t know if I wanna give up the padlocks lol

@@HiDdeNSQuiDZGaming However the party is a little weak in the ruins and cove because the houndmaster's main abilities are not as good because high bleed resist
My top party for everywhere and I think for many bosses: Vestal/OCC(ifyoureconfident)+HM+BH+Hellion. Marks, stress heal, good heals, with right skills on hellion and bh you can easily target 3rd position, stuns, -prots, dot if needed. This party never failed me
My two favorite teams are Jester -Abomination-Abomination -Abomination. First A always transforms(use restraining padlock) second A switchs between human and monster(optional restraining padlock), third A always does blight and stun, and jester for stress heals and buffs(since thats literally all he can do XD) i call it the Circus Act. Second team is Vestal-HW-SB-Grave robber. High damage good dodge heals but not stress heals, also fuck SBs sidequest. I call it the Dance Of Steel.
@@HiDdeNSQuiDZGaming it also has good damage if the rank 2&3 Abomination both use the blight skill for two rounds they can have the rank two and three enemies taking 18 damage a round and having the first abomination Rage on the first rank enemy you can have the first 3 enemies down in 2-3 rounds. Not great for mitigating damage but good for easy team sweeps.
I took an abomination, highwayman, hound master, and ocultist going at shrik for my trinkets and the name pops up „high way to hell” i that was bonkers
Typically this would be done in a short dungeon and rely on food for death's door healing after fights. In the fights you need fast characters or great scouting and surprise chances.
@@HiDdeNSQuiDZGaming i see bcs mostly i only make a party usually with healer and there one time i tried to make a party without a healer i lost 2 of party member. What a disaster
i think thatt the mercilless comp is called so because all the heroes kill people without really caring. Occultist believes in a pagan god and during his backstory comic we see his path full of skulls and death, the plague doctor has less to do with backstory and more to with the nature of her job, they killed people to stop spreading of plague, where mercy was not a thing they could afford. The Highwayman in his backstory kills people and feels no remorse until accidently murdering a child, what saddened him, but he probably had to accept it(my guess) making him even more merciless. the hellion's tribe(?) wasa shown to participate in many wars, while in her backstory it was a traumatic experience for her, we later on see her fight well in the dungeon so we can assume she overcame the trauma probably gaining even more hate to the living(as such her abilities to make them bleed).
Someone help me please!? I see all these parties people recommend without stress healers and I have no clue how you get through a dungeon without one unless your talking level one and short dungeons but anything after that are you just using camping skills ? Are you relying on killing them that quick ? There’s so many times I wanna use a party but then I realize I don’t have a jester or a Crusader or hound master and I have to change it :3
A great way to start reducing stress is prioritizing stress damage dealers and there are a few ways to do that. Fast speed which can be hard, or going with a heavy scouting party and getting a lot of surprises. Parties with low attack row diversity also run into the issue of not being able to kill stress damage dealers quickly so look into that. Lepers, crusaders, bounty hunters are great damage but often can lack the ability to really punish the 3rd and 4th position reliably.
OK thank you so much! Yah I feel kinda silly I commented too early and saw you did talk about that kinda stuff lol I really appreciate your response and love your videos man keep it up! I am planning on doing my first darkest dungeon run soon do you have any tips for me? I heard theres a lot of bleeding and stress and movement disruption?
Just replace hellion with shieldbreaker in merciless and high prot enemies stop being a problem ;) one more fun, mark-oriented party composition to try out: Occultist:BH:BH:BH. Pure savagery.
@@HiDdeNSQuiDZGaming Btw, have been binging your videos trying to learn the game and they have been a HUGE help!! Can't thank you enough for all your hard work in putting out quality guides for all of us. Cheers!
I've recently been getting really bad luck on 90% of my runs, but then I took a single Leper on a LONG CHAMPION RUINS RUN, and he completed the quest :D (the devs should add a party name for when you have a single Leper. PS, why do you think the Crusader is bad? Just wondering.
Hmm I didn't know I said the crusader was bad. I am usually a fan of them. I may have said he has bad row diversity which can be problematic but I do like crusaders very much.
@@HiDdeNSQuiDZGaming Sorry I didn't make it more clearer, I meant why do you think he is considered "bad" like the Highwayman, and that the Vestal is good?
Ah okay. I guess it's subjective but he is a kleptomaniac in the beginning and the crusades were pretty brutal in terms of war. But holy men could also be viewed as good :)
I absolutely love your pronunciation. You're British, right? Or a non-native who had learned British English instead of nowadays widely spread American? Or an American speaking not so American?
Not to make it a long story, but the origins of my town were British (100's of years ago) and then it was populated by a heavy Dutch German culture/population (at least I have been told so). Therefore, some words and pronunciations can be funny. Edit: English is my first language but on the east coast there can be some interesting linguistic styles.
Also had a really good team comp that sadly wasn't named (order is front to back) Leper, Shieldbreaker, Plague Doctor, Antiquarian (u can make it better by replacing leper with occultist) Very strong blight team on high levels, literally just spam noxious blast/plague grenade, festering vapours and impale (it doesn't blight until lvl 3 which is weird but ok) i guess u can use serpent sway when impale moves you to rank 2 lol No healer, and i sent them to a long mission in the cove, although they absolutely demolished the collector
I'll be honest, I've sometimes taken a party just because it has a great name.
I think we all have :)

I forget the name of the group but I liked running a Vestal, Houndmaster, Bounty Hunter, and Leper
How is the Man at Arms utilizing the mark strategy? Or is it because he can bark as well?
His debuff skill makes enemies more likely to get crit on their face while marked
He can also mark himself, thus allowing enemies who use mark to focus him instead of the other lower hp heroes.
No
No matter how many one sees it, that 57 crit on the Skiver (without any debuffs, no less!) is just grimy
Dude, those Swine Skivers are annoying. If I can find a way to do that much damage to one on a regular basis, I would not object.
I believe I dog boned for that hit but with that and the collar it does huge work!
Great video, thanks
Thank you for watching!
Some interesting ideas here.
Thank you!
Witch hunt
Vestal - Plague - Crusader - Leper
Beauty
Nice. I could see why that is so powerful.
Just replace hellion with shieldbreaker in merciless and high prot enemies stop being a problem ;) one more fun, mark-oriented party composition to try out: Occultist:BH:BH:BH. Pure savagery.
Haha BHs are fun and that is an interesting strategy.
I'm a noob, where do I find the whole list of these comps?
You can type in party composition group names/list into a web browser. I don't think the game offers one
@@HiDdeNSQuiDZGaming Btw, have been binging your videos trying to learn the game and they have been a HUGE help!! Can't thank you enough for all your hard work in putting out quality guides for all of us. Cheers!
Thank you for watching and I am glad they have helped!
PD seems to stress so easily
Low dodge and stress increase trinkets are not a good combo
@@HiDdeNSQuiDZGaming I know. But thanks for the tip
I lost two of them because of heart attack:(
I've recently been getting really bad luck on 90% of my runs, but then I took a single Leper on a LONG CHAMPION RUINS RUN, and he completed the quest :D (the devs should add a party name for when you have a single Leper.
Also had a really good team comp that sadly wasn't named (order is front to back)
Leper, Shieldbreaker, Plague Doctor, Antiquarian (u can make it better by replacing leper with occultist)
Very strong blight team on high levels, literally just spam noxious blast/plague grenade, festering vapours and impale (it doesn't blight until lvl 3 which is weird but ok) i guess u can use serpent sway when impale moves you to rank 2 lol
No healer, and i sent them to a long mission in the cove, although they absolutely demolished the collector
I've found the lack of a strong healer can usually work up to a medium dungeon. Hopefully you got out of that long dungeon in a decent condition!
bullet hell: Musketeer, HWM, HWM, Occultist
Front row occultist, I love it.
Tomorrow the Pokémon mode will be released
@Bartosz Pelc I meant Butcher Circus, “tomorrow” was the day before its release
As fun as it is we will not see it on DD2. Oh what a dissapointment of a "sequel".
The party names will definitely not be as fun as these were sadly.
