Many thanks - this would not have crossed my mind. Just used the method on the old water main - It cut the pipe very cleanly and with very little effort - far better than a hacksaw. Tiptop.
Hi Oli, great video tip, wish I thought of it last winter!!! A quick, unrelated question pal, if I may. You mentioned in one of your videos that circulating pumps were purposely fitted on the return pipe, Vaillant or Glowworm I think you said. I've got a flexicom 12hx to check out, that only has hot water, when heating is on & I've noticed it's an old system with filthy system water, also noticed the pump on the return pipe. Any help is greatly appreciated fella & keep the videos coming. Any thoughts on your career moving forward Oli??? Peace brother to you & yours. Paul Savory
Before I pressed play I thought, bet he uses his plastic cutters. Never seen this one before I just had a gut feeling that's what it would be. Hope it doesn't knack the blade though.
Awesome never heard or seen that done before 👍💯
So simple yet not obvious. Are you a plumber?
Never seen such a quick video straight to the point brilliant mate 👍🏻
Thanks. So simple :-)
Have to hold my hands up here, plumbing 14 years but have never come across that trick! Fair play every day is a school day!
The amount of times I have used a Hacksaw!!!!! :-)

It will be a stuck HW 2 port or wiring issue. :-) Im going out now can't write any more. :-)
@@HeatingGeek Thanks for your prompt reply pal, something to check, when customer returns from hols. 🤔👍
What fitting do you prefer to use on a lead
I always use UTC's if I can. They might be bigger but they always work. Lead locks are a bit hit and miss.
Can you please do a video on calculating lead fitting sizes, it confuses the hell out of me!
Use a VERNIER
I use a tape measure and and guesstimate. I the buy both fittings it could be. I don't use Lead locks. I use UTCs. Much better.
@@HeatingGeek Fantastic bit of kit them UTC's ollie thats all i use now 7lb 9lb lead
@@keithbrueton Really easy to use and very forgiving. Lead locks are a pain in the ass. :-)

Get the £10 pair from screwfix if you're worried. These were expensive Rothenburger cutters but were absolutely fine after. Its just so fast though.
HeatingGeek it’s a fantastic tip, I’ll defo be trying it next time I’m connecting onto lead 👍
@@BABYCHAOS26 Thanks. I couldn't believe how easy it was compared to a hack saw.
Cordless grinder with a zip blade.......even easier.........👍
Not when Its live though. :-)
The cut will never be as clean and straight with a grinder..
Also Philmac joint better than lead loc.
Yes it is. :-)
I bet that turned a few heads
