    Just beautiful, Brooke! Such fun to watch. May I ask if you always do a varnish coat on every painting? Is it necessary to preserve the painting? I love painting and use acrylics and sometimes I prefer the painting as-is and without a non-glossy look ... your artwork is so lovely! Always love your videos and absolutely love your painting classes! Just did the magnolia wreath and it’s gorgeous💗.

    • @kerengurionart
      @kerengurionart 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You could use a matt or silk varnish, so it is non glossy.

    • @CBrookeRing
      @CBrookeRing  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I added a little more to it at a later date! It was left pretty close to as is for a more abstract effect!

    QUESTION: what was used to draw the black drawing over the painting? WOULD also love a tutorial

    • @CBrookeRing
      @CBrookeRing  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I used charcoal! I also used a spray fixative so that it doesn't smudge. Great idea! I will definitely keep that in mind! Thank you!

    I know art is a very subjective topic but the first third to a half of the painting seemed pointless as it was basically completely covered by everything you painted in the second half and did not appear to blend with what was initially painted. I could see this as a creative process though.

      The reason for the underpainting in this case, I think is that is warms up the colours on top. You can also see the paint around the edges of the shapes that make up the landscape. The finished painting would look very different in tone if the under painting wasn’t there. You are correct that the way it is painted may also be part of the artist’s process. It may loosen her up and get her into the shapes and feel of the paint.
