What a nice little mare. You have said that people's home work, daily interactions and work, make the foundation for a good horse. Whatever street you are going down at 3:30, has all kinds of Barry situation favorites: a Trimmer roaring, all kinds of signs and working vehicles, etc.
What a pretty trusting dear little soul. A pleasure to watch her ever attentive swivelling ears, listening to your every gentle command, through her soft rubber bit. She must be one of your most rewarding students, and her owners must be utterly deleted with her safe confident happy progress. If any one deserved a big carrot, it’s Bird. May her onward career take flight on her joyful fulfilling path. Congratulations to your team who have shaped her loving character to best serve herself and humanity.
I love your videos Barry and I'm so glad you post them. Knowing there are people like you and Bird's owner in this world make life better. Congratulations on your graduation, Bird! 🏆
Enjoyed watching this solid citizen in the making! I've broken my wrist so I cannot drive my own horses, so thoroughly enjoyed going along for the ride!
Apologies, there isn't just one - by 'prior training' I mean if you have a horse's trust in 'scary' situations, when their own confidence does fail, they look to you for solace and instruction. As a flight animal, there is always the possibility they will bolt etc. however if they are used to listening to you and that listening to you means safety, they will 'come back down' from that heightened state much quicker. Apart from that, no screaming and shouting, no punishment for running, just firm, slow, calm, familiar instructions (steady, woah, etc.) until you have the horse's attention again.
