    What a wonderful sight .. Sigh I have to say, in my opinion , there is nothing more handsome or regal than a horse with a roman nose.

    I ❤the Gelderlanders, I used to live in Holland, but I'm going to say that I Adore the Cleveland Bays,I have worked with a Cleveland Bay stallion and he was a Gentleman!
    (He kicked a hole in the Stable walls due to the harvest mites though!!) Wonderful to see you and appreciate your kindness and understanding towards the horses!! Thank you very Much!!❤

    I was with them every hoof of the way Astonishing, driving - they look as if they have been a team forever. There is a drive you did in the New Forest that has stayed with me. These precious UK summer days, lovely to experience. Thank you, Barry.

    This has been a real treat watching your driving video. Just listening to your voice you have such a calm manner, and I agree with one of the other comments “ masterful”. Watching a master at work it looks so effortless

    Thank you Barry and Rhi for coming up with the wonderful idea of adding archive videos as this is marvelous for newbie watchers of your youtube chanel such as myself. I might not be a horse owner but I just love watching your calm and kind interactions with these beautiful creatures. As you often say you are blessed to have been working in a job that you love, and who couldn't love working with these beautiful animals? Fate sends us off in different directions and if I had my time again I would love to be on the same path, to find my niche in life sharing with equines. That said not in the future! lol. But back from the years when you also came into horse knowledge and I would hope to be given the wisdom that you have ❤🐎

    I remember those youngsters!! They had great movement to them!! And to see them going in the team of 4, and seeing you driving them all, is stunning to see, Baz!! I remember the funeral you did as well!! Now that's going back a few years!! Happy New Year Baz and Rhi, I wish you more great driving adventures in 2024!! Your friend the Retired Paramedic and a very tired Horse Trainer, waiting on baby number 5 to make its appearance, then I'm done for this year. In Ontario, Canada, Jenn 💖 🇨🇦

Before midnight, so, technically, still my birthday, on January the 7th. She has a Star and a tiny snip, and she's the same rich chest red of Secretariat!!

      The wheelers are possibly retired by now! The owner still has the leaders and still drives them as a pair last we heard.

    Could you sometimes explain how two lines in your hands attach to four horses? Beautiful film. Thanks.

    • @barryhook2
      @barryhook2  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That would be a whole video, but there are four lines in Barry's hands. The top two go to the leaders, the bottom two go to the wheelers (the horses behind the leaders).

    @pixie706 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Lovely to watch . Do you drive the leaders as a tandem first to get them used to a horse behind. We did that with youngsters. Those horses look well matched

    • @barryhook2
      @barryhook2  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Not usually, no. Just as a pair first most of the time.

    Beautiful team! Did you just happen by the guys that watered the horses or did you already know them? What a fun drive. Thanks for sharing!

    • @barryhook2
      @barryhook2  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Already knew them! They jumped down off the carriage to water the horses.

  • @debtompkins5363
    @debtompkins5363 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

    I could never understand 'headers' if those horses decide to leave there is nothing a header can do about it except maybe get run over. I was at a show once by myself with 1 horse and the show insisted that the horse had to have someone heading for the line up in the ring the fact that the horse could have been left there even without a driver and wouldn't have moved ... they insisted so they sent someone to stand there... made the show committee happy but didn't have any effect on the horse who ignored them as did I

    • @generalputnam2990
      @generalputnam2990 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Headers to the ring in lineup is customary in many shows/breeds/disciplines.
      I was always grateful for the practice, not for my horses, but the unpredictable behavior of others.

    • @barryhook2
      @barryhook2  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      We prefer never to go to their heads either, but to encourage the horse to use their own confidence and that they have in their driver instead. As you rightly say, headers are also in the most danger of being run over!
