    42:49 3rd gear blocker ring has worn on the inside cone causing it to be pressed onto the cone of third gear. The repair would be to replace both blocker rings and clutch dogs that the slider slides on. Also on the new blocker rings, using a small jewelers file, cut 3 or 4 grooves 90* to the ring to allow more oil to lube the cone area.

      @@LGKustoms I will tell you a secret that you probably won't believe. The 9 inch from a full size 77 Lincoln Mark V with disc brakes will fit under that 47 nicely. I have put one under a 41 sedan before but I converted the rear suspension to parallel leaf springs when I did it. Most people assume that big Mark V axle is way too wide for anything and if you see one in a salvage they almost always still have the rear axle under them.

    Last year I wanted a truck to use for work on the property and to haul my fishing boat down to the Strait. I bought a maintenance neglected 1991 F150 with an exhaust manifold gasket leak for $850. Over the last year the engine was replaced because of hairline cracks in the head and a pinhole in the block. When it rains, you're going to be poor...
    The last transmission I dropped was on my 1964 Falcon station wagon. Before I could get back to replace it my sister and her husband, at the time, stole and sold it. That was 35 years ago, and I cannot let it go.

    You have a lot on your plate but eventually if it was my truck I would have hydraulic lines of the kind that go on a tractor made up so that you can get rid of those rubber hoses clamped onto metal tubing. The factory trans lines from the dealer are expensive and aluminum and I don't like them so I replaced the ones on one of my Cummins Dodge trucks (the 96) with hydraulic hoses. That was 18 years ago and no leaks. Glad to hear you have a source for another trans for the '47. As easy as you made it look to pull it out you should have it on the road again next weekend.

    • @LGKustoms
      @LGKustoms  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yea proper hydraulic hoses was my plan if it was something more than a loose hose clamp. If it starts leaking again, that’ll probably be the solution.

    • @crazyoilfieldmechanic3195

      Twice is close enough to correct. Cummins is about 1200 pounds and a 390 is about 700 pounds which is about 150 pounds more than a flathead so the ole 47 sedan wouldn't gain much in weight with that 390 in it and with a cam and aluminum intake and headers it would easily explode that stock rear axle !!!
